This is the first time I have felt the staff listened to my glasses need and had a true understanding for how to fit a pair of glasses. The staff did not rush us and then fact emailed us after I got my pair of glasses making sure they really were the right ones and made adjustments so I felt great wearing my new glasses. The ecstatic reviews are not overstating it! This is the best optometrist experience I've ever had,…read moreand I've had glasses for about 40 years... (backstory of the store: Dr. Bernard P. Conway founded Specs 20/20 in Cedar Mill, after teaching pediatric and vision therapy for 20 years at Pacific.) Dr. Conway was willing and able to take the extended time to correct a prescription I'd gotten at a place I will never go again (for other added reasons) that has the intials EHNW... I had a weird, weird phenomenon happening with my glasses -- even though individually, each eye had the 'correct' prescription, the two of them together did NOT work. I said "I've never had this happen before" and he said "Neither have I!" but he didn't write off my experience as invalid or just ignore it -- he stuck with it, eliminating possibilities one by one until we got to the very weird, literally-first-time-for-him-and-me solution!! He was curious, caring, professional, and SMART, did I mention SMART!! He's also incredibly kind and gentle. (He's Canadian ) I have glasses that work better now than I have ever had before, and a path to even better next year. He's a GENIUS. The techs also sing his praises -- they say that the store philosophy encourages them to take whatever time is needed and actually use the skills they developed, rather than forcing them to rush people through and upsell as much as possible like where they worked before. Ivy and Joseph were so incredibly helpful and patient throughout the several visits it took to figure out the problem. EVERYONE is so happy there; it's an oasis of good energy and brilliant outcomes. And they have a great selection of frames for every style and budget. Well beyond the normal Luxottica collection. I couldn't stop rhapsodizing to everyone I met the day I picked up my glasses LOL - and yet it makes me a bit sad, because it reminds me of how medicine USED to be before rapacious capitalism got a hold of it and limited interactions to strict time and process constraints...actual care and patience, curiosity, and persistence in actually helping people...like stepping back in time...sigh... Anyway, if you need glasses and live anywhere near, book with Dr. Conway specifically (my husband saw the other opto there but his prescription is easier than mine) and you won't be disappointed

Holy Guacamole!!! i had been neglecting my vision for quite a bit longer than i should have…read more(yeeears). i waltzed into this lovely establishment, and immediately met with an incredibly mindful and knowledgeable optometrist, who assessed my vision using cutting-edge technology. they didn't even have to blow the air in my eyes! once my eyes were assessed by the pro, i was partnered with Leah Parker, who did an incredible job in helping me find the exact frames that met my very specific requirements. Leah hand-selected several glasses for me to try on, and gave a thorough rationale behind each intentional decision. Leah gave me honest feedback-- if i liked something that didn't work for my face, Leah helped me explore other options. Going to the eye doctor has always kinda been like going to the dentist for me. a dreadful, uncomfortable, expensive task. i walked out of the office today with a brand new pair of glasses, and my out of pocket wasn't as offensive as i feared. oh, and one last comment: when i picked up my glasses, Leah adjusted them to fit my face PERFECTLY. i always used to get my glasses from an online-only place, and i'll never make that mistake again. when it comes to correcting my vision, i want something both reliable and precise. my eyes can FEEL the difference between the accuracy of these lenses and the online ones. anyway, thanks for reading this far. here's a magic wish (as a thank you & parting goodbye) P.S. take a look at my photos, read the captions :)

This was a baseline first time exam, but he gave me a prescription for glasses and wants me to return in 6 months. I'm happy to be rechecked frequently because I have MS and sometimes you get optic neuritis. They have an extensive selection of frames to peruse, but you aren't required to buy frames there I used to go to another Newberg eye place that was filthy, had kids/interns doing the eye exams and sold old fashioned type frames. I have been wearing contact lenses for 27+ years, and already felt very comfortable with my faithful Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism. It wasn't until my first appointment that I realized, to my (and the doctor's) horror, that my lenses weren't monthly disposables but two-week ones! The first doctor was very kind about it, and recommended another brand of monthly disposables, Biofinity to me. Unfortunately, the fit was immediately uncomfortable and I was not seeing clearly from one eye, so I had to come in for a followup. The second time, I met with a different doctor who gave me a different lens for the problematic eye. The second lens didn't work for me either, so I reverted to wearing my glasses for two weeks until I got in for another appointment. I was starting to get a little frustrated at the number of follow-ups I needed for a simple lens Rx, but held out.The third follow up appt was with Dr. Hill, who I felt was the best fit for me out of everyone I had interfaced with. She is not only extremely competent and thorough, but she took her time with me well beyond what I expected. I had my kindergartener with me that day as it was right after school and I expected to be in and out within 15 minutes, but she fine tuned my prescription noting that I had an issue with the lenses not rotating properly to where they needed to settle, and spent an hour trying different things and testing until we got it right and I was comfortable. She had me trial four different lenses and luckily, one of them (lo and behold, it was my tried and true, Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism) worked out. I appreciated so much Dr. Hill's patience, calm demeanor and thoroughness - that third time was a charm! I highly recommend her if anyone is looking for a new eye doctor.
