Manoir Kanisha - SNAKE BOARDING AT MANOIR KANISHA

Absolutely disgraceful service. We organized for our small dog to be shipped from Montreal to…read moreLondon, UK this past September. How can we begin to explain the absolute disaster that took place? To start with, as others have said here it was a nightmare to try to reach the kennel to begin with. We spoke first with a Nicole who was very clear in her explanation of the details of the application but very rude and sharp with her words. We get it, they are busy and once we finally heard back after two weeks (Tim admitted that we may have gotten lost in the pile of applications) we were then dealt with appropriately, but after that, a lot of the correspondence was confused with repeated questions and repeated information. Everything was then set up and approx 4 weeks later our little Morty was picked up by Tim and taken away to the kennel where he would spend two nights and three days including a trip to the vet before then being shipped off to the UK with Air Canada Cargo. Morty spent one night at the kennel and the next day we found out through a friend ON FACEBOOK that our dog was MISSING from the vet that he had his check up with. What then proceeded was a web of lies, mixed information and stress/trauma that our dog is STILL recovering from nearly one month later. Essentially, the incompetent worker from the kennel who took Morty to the vet opened her car door and attempted to put a collar on him while he was free to run...which he did. Unbelievable. So imagine, we hear from our friends who have seen a notice on social media that our dog is missing and no-one NOT A SINGLE PERSON from manoir Kanisha contacted us to let us know. We rushed over to the vet (while calling the kennel who straight up lied that he was fine and well in the kennel) and through a process of elimination we found out which vet he was at. We arrived and the woman who had lost him said he was missing for one hour and had been found by her husband. Fast forward to when we managed to speak to Tim who said he was missing for three hours and had been found by a stranger who had seen the missing poster they had printed. Super super strange and highly unprofessional. You have to understand, while waiting to find out if he had been found (as the kennel lied and told us he was fine and well while we knew he was missing) we were trying to change flights to the UK with our baby, completely stressful and absolutely unnecessary. While we understand accidents happen...we shouldn't find out that our dog was missing through social media and find that the kennel was lying to us...we have paid $3,000 to ensure that accidents DONT happen. We wonder if the kennel would have ever told us about the incident as he was found in the end. He was then eventually brought back to the kennel for his second night where we are sent one photo of him (we were promised two to three pictures) and Tim's excuse was that the light was too poor to take photographs...we were getting more and more infuriated and nervous that we were being lied to once again. Then, our dog arrives in the UK and his blanket that he needs to keep him soothed was missing...we reach out the UK and they say he was never shipped with a blanket. Of course, the incompetent kennel had shipped our dog without it. They sent it and it arrived to us just a few days ago. This whole ordeal cost us so much stress and anxiety and to be honest, our dog has become incredibly anxious and traumatized because of this. This shouldn't have happened like this, we paid for our dog to be kept safe and well and to be shipped in comfort. Lastly, Manoir Kanisha offered to pay for the vet bill from the vet where he was lost...that was promised to us both in writing and over the phone from Tim and we haven't heard a thing. Nicole was one of the rudest people I've frankly dealt with in customer service. We demanded compensation and received 0, not even a response back. We advise anyone reading this to stay FAR FAR away from this kennel; unprofessional and rude and to top it off... lying to us about the state of our dog. BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT.

During a pressing personal emergency I had to have my standard Poodle boarded for almost six weeks…read more I wanted the best for her so I chose to board her at Manoir Kanisha. Their service was first class from the moment they picked up my dog from my family residence and took her to the Manoir Kanisha. During her boarding I had regular telephone contact with staff and received pictures confirming that she was doing great and in optimum care. I had peace of mind that she was in the right place and with the right professionals. When I needed to extend my dog's stay for a week during the holiday season, a place was made for my dog to stay at Manoir Kanisha. When my dog was finally delivered to me she was in perfect health and very affectionate. I would like to thank Johanne, Nicole and all of the staff at Manoir Kanisha. Happy New Year and Best Wishes! Never board your dog at Les Anges Gardiennes. They stopped having someone stay with the animals…read moreovernight over a year ago, but didn't tell customers. They just pretend nothing changed. They put the dogs in cages, stacked floor to ceiling, in a tiny room with signs banning entry, so owners don't know how badly their animals are being treated. From the time the daycare closes at 7:00pm until after 7:00am the next morning there is no one there, and the dogs are stuck in little cages for 12+ hours. There is just a camera in the room and who knows if they monitor that. They make a show of putting some cats roaming freely in an office off reception, but they won't show you where they actually stick the dogs who are boarding there: in tiny cages that are off-limits and behind closed doors. I saw the disgusting room because a lovely person in reception told me to avoid boarding there, and showed me the room even though they could have been fired. The people who work in the daycare are fabulous, but the woman who runs the place, Vanessa, is super sweet to your face and takes your money, and then shoves your dog, alone and scared, in a small room and lies to you about someone being there. Oh, also, Vanessa steals tips. The people who work there are so lovely (and you should tip them!!!) but NEVER let Vanessa see you do it, she'll take it for herself, because "they owe her." NEVER GO HERE FOR ANYTHING.

JR Dog Training

WORST dog trainer ever. Zero stars if possible. Do not take your dog to him unless you want to…read moreabuse your animal and make him afraid of you. I don't know why he's still in business. He should be stopped! He makes you pay full price in advance because he knows most people will quit after a couple of lessons. Which is exactly what I did. I may have lost $800 but at least I saved my dog from cruelty. He also makes you buy from him a choke collar, a leash, and another chain that he uses to scare the dog into submission. I beg of you, do not take your animal to him.

I'm a bit late to the party but I wanted to share my experience with JR Dog Training…read more I adopted a 3 year old Swiss mountain dog mix about 6 months ago. She has problems with reactivity and anxious behavior, but overall is the sweetest girl. We've been working on positive reinforcement, counter conditioning etc, and we're able to make some decent progress. But we were still dealing with some intense reactivity on walks, so we decided to look for a trainer. I spoke with JR on the phone a couple of times. He said that he didn't believe in the positive reinforcement philosophy. He mentioned that he did use a choke chain, but that it was only meant to "shock" the dog into listening. I read alot of reviews and most seemed positive. Coupled with the fact that he offered a lifetime guarantee and group classes (which would allow my dog to socialize with others) I figured I'd give it a go. First, JR came to my house to "assess" my dogs situation. This was meant to be a one hour session. He spent 45 minutes rambling on about miscellaneous stories and testimonies, which got pretty exhausting after a while. He then demanded up front payment of the full 600$, and had us sign a contract which removed any liability on his part if our dog were to get injured (major red flag). In hindsight, I should have decided not to pursue this any further, but I was really desperate for help. Upon payment, he told us we needed to purchase a choke collar and leash from him (another 60$). He then proceeds to put the collar on my dog and hold her close to him. He instructed us to call her over to us to see what his technique entailed. Once she got close, he literally yanked her as hard as he could back towards him. My dog was SO scared and visibly shaken up after that, and she kept trying to come back to me, but he kept yanking her away. She finally stopped and sat next to him, but her body language showed pure fear. The first group class was all about leash training. JR took turns showing everyone how to properly "correct" their dogs by pulling on the leash. When people had difficulty applying the technique, he would yell at, and flat out verbally abuse them. It was sickening to watch. But the method worked, as my dog was walking much better on leash, so I figured we should just tough it out. During the 2nd class, my dog got curious about another dog close by, and she wanted to approach him. I was ecstatic as she's never done this before. JR immediately came over, grabbed the leash and pulled her away. I was in complete disbelief. When I asked why he would correct behavior that we actually wanted to encourage, he said "he wanted to see how my dog would react". Just pure nonsense. He then spent the next 45 minutes explaining his next technique: the throw chain. He essentially uses a metal chain to hit the dog and force them into submission. The idea is that overtime, they associate the sound of the chain with the act of submitting and stopping whatever it is they are doing. He then proceeds to tell my dog to sit, which she immediately does, but whips her with the chain at the same time. The fear in my dog's eyes broke my heart. He applied the same technique to the other dogs, and went as far as throwing it in their faces when they wouldn't comply. I've seen him whip dogs as hard as he could and visibly hurting and scaring them. JR also told us he believed shock collars and electric fences to be appropriate methods to train dogs. I don't think I need to say much more on that. I could go on and on about JR's barbaric dog training methods, and his abusive treatment of his clients, but I'll leave it at this: if you love your dog, do not trust them with this man. I have stopped going to his classes out of fear that he would cause permanent psychological damage to my dog. There are so many trainers out there who will train your dog with positive, pain-free methods. It will take more time, but the payoff is worth it.
