Three miles past the sign for Olney is the start and finish line. Side roads turn off on the right and left (event is on the left if west bound). Turn off and park on either one. Just hold onto your kids when nearing HWY 93. The event is free, although the Fire Department has coffee for a donation, and some meals and snacks to purchase. Just follow the barking dogs lining the side road up to the event. Yak tracks for your boots are encouraged. The main staging area is a bit "busy" and can be a little misleading. You are encouraged to walk off trail, past the finish line, along the actual race path. Just a little bit in along the trail and it opens up considerably. There is much more visibility to see the teams as they make there way to and from the starting line. Tips: 1. Bring folding chairs 2. Bring a snack and warm drinks 3. Bring a bag for trash since you will likely be some distance in and away from any trash bins. Pack it in pack it out rules apply. 4. Handwarmers if it is cold The event was really active at 9 AM then seemed to settle down by 1 PM, although the teams were still racing. It was a gorgeous day out and we could have easily spent the rest of it watching the racers had we been better prepared. Be prepared to help the all volunteer Fire department which depends on your charity.

The reason I was given is that the church probably did not fill out a service form so that the mail service could start for them. Seriously?! I sent it priority and a USPS person called me and told me that the town was so small that they probably didn't have any carriers there so only PO Box's had been set up. A statement that I found was untrue when I called their post office.

Nice little library in our small town. They have fun…read morecommunity events and good community support. We like to come on Monday's for kids time and Thursday for more kids activities. Especially in the winter when we're all sick of being inside. Well organized and nice staff to help you find what you need. My kids like the loft area where there are toys and books to choose from. There is also a nice representation from the library on Thursday's at the Coop for kids during the summer. I like this very much. If you read to your kids they associate reading with love and then learn to love books too.

The best aspect/feature of this town is that it offers a nice little walking section of throwback western stores. I'd say the entire downtown area is comprised of 4 - 5 blocks where you can browse quaint shops, people watch and grab a few souvenirs. The backdrop of town transports you back in time. With parking spots lined up across every street...I simply got out of my car and started walking around and exploring. Some highlights included old fashioned saloons, outposts, casinos, chocolatiers, antiques, bars and grills, classic "old - time" photos, arts and boutiques. Strolling among town, a bunch of the stores and shops are authentically patterned as if you're surrounded within a golden/cowboy era within time. It was quite unique to wander up and down the streets. I hung out for roughly an hour....peering inside the windows of stores and enjoying the ambiance throughout before continuing on my journey. Overall, it was pleasant to visit the city of Whitefish and wander the charming avenues of downtown. For anyone passing through the area - this touristy section is a cool pit-stop to immerse yourself in some vintage surroundings among old fashioned venues.

Well now as of summer 2024,a lot of trees,truck loads,looks like they might be widening Hwy93 just…read morenorth of town ?they have cleared a large swath of pine trees mybe 25 feet wide for about 2-3 miles.looks like a major logging operation? Let's hope.And this is the section that is in desperate need of repair and the only Highway heading north out of town.
