However I am so appreciative of the folks over at Mayes Ward-Dobbins that I just had to write a review, so that others can see the wonderful services they provide. James and the whole team from Mayes Ward worked with our family through the entire end of life process. From the planning stages into the actual viewing/funeral/burial once my father-in-law passed away, they were right by our sides, providing excellent guidance and support. Their facility on Church Street is modern but tasteful, and provides ample room for even large scale visitations and funerals, such as ours. The staff worked closely with us to take care of all the little things, such as easels for pictures, TV hookups for a slideshow, and water and mints for... well, you can guess how we were feeling after several hours of up close and personal chatting with friends and relatives. My points of reference for end of life services are limited to when my grandparents passed away last year, however when I compare the experiences I cannot help but feel blessed that we were able to work with Mayes Ward-Dobbins for my father-in-law. They are kind but thorough, gentle but competent. My condolences go to anyone who is in need of funeral services, however if you are in that situation, Mayes Ward-Dobbins is a wonderful and compassionate place to go for the next phase.

I never thought I'd have to fight this hard just to say goodbye to someone I loved -- or to protect…read morethe truth about how they died. But thanks to Jones-Wynn Funeral Home and their director, Scott McBrayer, that's exactly what happened. My children's father, Kenneth Michael Massey, died under highly suspicious circumstances in January 2025. There was visible blood, trauma, and the cord used to allegedly hang him was still wrapped around his neck -- yet no autopsy was performed, the scene wasn't preserved, and the death was quickly ruled a suicide. When I requested to see Kenneth again to photograph the cord -- to preserve what may have been the only piece of physical evidence left -- Scott McBrayer denied me access, even though I was the legally authorized next of kin. He told me I would need a warrant or a special team, and claimed he was acting under the direction of Douglas County Coroner Renee B. Godwin. He later admitted in recorded phone calls that the cord had never been removed and that he simply followed the coroner's instructions. Despite knowing this was wrong, and despite my repeated efforts to stop the cremation until the body could be examined properly, he went through with it anyway. Since then, I have sent multiple formal email requests asking Jones-Wynn Funeral Home for the full file, documentation, and communications related to Kenneth's body. Not a single response. No records, no explanation, no acknowledgment. This isn't just unprofessional -- it's obstruction. Scott McBrayer knowingly followed illegal directives, denied us the ability to preserve crucial forensic evidence, and continues to withhold records that I have every right to receive. Jones-Wynn didn't just mishandle my loved one -- they helped cover up what happened to him. This isn't about grief anymore. This is about accountability. If you are looking for a funeral home to honor your loved one and respect your family, I urge you: Do not trust Jones-Wynn Funeral Home.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much care they took to honoring our girl. When it came to the memorial, they helped us so much make this whole experience not only bearable, but also helped really honor our baby in a way that she deserved. Brian and team, thank you.
