My wife has a homing device imbedded in her that absolutely lures her into West Elm every time we're near. By default, I've made my way in here and have to say it's pretty nice! In the IKEA/Target era where it's easy to furnish on the cheap, West Elm takes a different approach of pure quality, modern aesthetics and a price tag to match. It's not a cheap store by any stretch, and I think they like it that way. The kind of furniture or decor here is going to be built to last, and almost everything in the store is eye catching. I also like that they're involved with the local community. We've bought from local artists showcasing illustrations here, and are planning to come in for a pet & family photo shoot with donations benefiting a local animal shelter. For window shopping on the Plaza, West Elm can't be beat.

Really loved this location of West Elm. They are dog friendly and as we were traveling through town with our dog it made our mini vacation delightful to have him along with us to do every day things like shop and dine in KC. They have the show room set up really nicely, and we were able to find quite a few things in the store to take home with us. Staff kept checking on us to make sure we were doing OK and I saw them cleaning and disinfecting things that customers had touched in a timely manner. Great experience.

Sofa delivered with incorrect legs. Extremely too low to ground and not what we ordered.

WE JUST WANT SOFA LEGS! I ordered furniture from the West Elm KC Plaza store on 3/3/2020 prior to all of this coronavirus shutdown. I was told to please order from store instead of online due to the fact that "my customer service would be better" if I had a store to take care of my issues. My furniture delivered finally 5/12/2020 and the custom sofa I ordered delivered with 1 inch stub legs instead of the pecan higher legs. My husband is 6'3", so you can imagine it is like sitting on the ground. The delivery men were SO nice, and had me leave a comment that it was incorrect, and instantly called customer service. The only reason I give this store even 1 star is because of how delightful the delivery men were. I also called the store to let them know of the incorrect item and they also said they'd handle it and to leave the furniture at my house. I've been told countless times by the managers at the KC Plaza store that there are two teams working on it, and that they'll call me as soon as they have updates. Not once did a manager call me first, I've had to hound them over and over to please escalate this issue or to just give me legs from a sofa in their store. The lack of concern for the incorrect delivery is shocking to me. Joseph specifically said to me "are you aware that there's a global pandemic", "at least my sofa is structurally sound", and that they are "at a loss for words of what to tell me." He was SO blatantly rude and I couldn't believe that is how he spoke to a CUSTOMER of the store. I am so frustrated at how this whole situation has been handled. I've been told the legs would be overnighted, then I was told the legs would arrive in 7-10 days, then it was "we hope to hear that they've shipped after the holiday weekend", and now it's "we have no update!" I'm the customer that spent $2500 on new furniture and the company already has my money and has no urgency to fix THEIR problem, not mine. I waited 2 months for the furniture to deliver, and I've already waited 16 days for this to STILL be an unresolved issue. I will never purchase an item from this store ever again. This is some of the WORST customer service I've ever experienced.

We entered the West Elm and were initially approached by Zahaira, who was very helpful. She printed info for us, gave us swatches, offered to show us a video of her favorite couch, was patient and attentive and did not pressure us. Our sofa sectional requirements are specific since both my hubby and are not tall people (I'm 5' 3") so the seat depth absolutely had to be comfortable for both of us. The majority of sofas we've shopped are way too deep and won't support our backs properly. She pointed out a couple couches that we really liked, then when I asked her if there was anything else she thought we should take a look at, she raved about the Tillary. To be perfectly candid, I had dismissed this piece since it appeared too low at first glance. However, once I was introduced to it, I simply fell in love with the versatility of this 8 piece sectional. It was beautiful, comfortable, functional, easy to move around and separate, could turn into a guest bed, and the back cushions can be moved forward to decrease the seat depth to fit me!!! (Say WHAT?!?!?) See the West Elm video (TRT 1:35) by the designer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uh9P1ObpHYE#t=10 Sure, I'm a little concerned about taller friends who may push back on the sofa when they recline, but that's an almost non-issue for our family room, as we intend to have one of the sofa beds placed against a wall. We imagine it will look perfect; it's low back cushion design won't block the windows along that wall. Also, our last sofa was way too deep for us. Period. (Our guests were always comfortable, but WE weren't and it is foolish to make that choice again.) We went back three times to check it out after shopping around (we lounged on the floor model for a LONG time) and after comparing, nothing came close to the package offering of the Tillary Modular. So we went back to seal the deal just before the store's sofa sale ended. Krista & Michael helped us finish the purchase and and were also very gracious. Since we stacked the available discounts: store's sofa sale (15% off) plus the moving discount (15% off) and opened a West Elm credit line (same as cash for 12 months option) our irritation with the steep 10% shipping fees was soothed. We chose a custom color fabric which will take 10-12 weeks... we can hardly wait!

You'd think with the prices they charge they'd let a customer use the restroom and the drinking fountain...but.....NO. How rude.

Snap, baby, snap- Retro Inferno!…read more This store embodies the word, "sharp." I know not much about furniture "except what I like" and "what I like" generally that falls into the Art Deco/Victorian with a splash of vintage Chinese (a "splash" because I can't afford more than an accent piece or two) category. My perfect room looks like it would have been in an EJ Bellocq photograph (sans prostitutes), just to give you an idea. Of course this is the antithesis of what you'd find in Retro Inferno, but I can still admire... and appreciate. Sometimes, I enter a home that is the perfect Mid-Century Modern time capsule and for minutes, perhaps hours, I consider putting out all my furniture at the curb. If I were to ever follow through, I suppose I cold then hit up Retro Inferno and re-outfit my digs. Although the price tags here give me pause (keep in mind these are designer pieces in PRISTINE condition, so it's to be expected and this is not at all a complaint) I was incredibly impressed by the composition of things (on the main floor, which is the showroom. Upstairs there's plenty more to look at and downstairs seems to be the area that is less artfully placed and more affordable). The people who run this place are design phenoms, I tell you. Speaking of disco (sorry, this store really has nothing at all to do with disco), I kept looking around thinking that when Mr. and Mrs. Roper from Three's Company were newlyweds in their younger days, their house would have looked just like many of the "sets" in Retro Inferno. That is, I presume they had slightly loud. slightly swanky, yet outrageous taste back in their day, only by the time they were on Threes Company, the bamboo inlay dining room table with glass top got put to the curb for a wicker dining room set. It's just the natural progression of things when you are in your late 50s and down to make whoopee, you know?

Our consultant Lashell is professional and very knowledgeable. Recently we had a large staircase fixture with three shades to be replaced. Caton was very patient throughout the long process. The shades to be replaced were high and problematic to reach in the staircase. Senior Technician, Joe with Lance and Parker assisting, did a flawless and clean job during the replacement process. I highly recommend Wilson Lighting for your lighting, furniture and accessory needs. Thank You Bobby !

I purchased several light fixtures from them, only to later find the exact same lights at Home Depot for one-third of the price. On top of that, about ten of the fixtures were missing a small bolt/nut that holds the shade in place. This makes changing a bulb extremely difficult. Only one fixture included the correct part, which is how I even realized the rest were missing. I searched every hardware store in town for this tiny 15-cent nut--no one carries it. When I contacted Wilson, they told me to reach out to Maxim, the manufacturer. Maxim then told me to contact Wilson because they were responsible for making it right. In the end, I was told I'd have to pay $10 per light fixture for each tiny nut--something that should cost pennies and should have been included in the first place. This is unacceptable customer service. After paying hundreds of dollars for fixtures, the least they could do is provide the missing parts. You would think a lighting store would carry basic hardware for the products they sell. Instead, for what they want to charge me for a few tiny nuts, I could buy several brand-new lights. Absolutely ridiculous. Would not recommend this place at all
