My Primary Care Physician had opined that the rotator cuff might be the problem, and that cortisone might help. Within hours of the procedure, the pain was gone! At my second appointment at the Physical Therapy office a heat pack was applied to my shoulder for 10 minutes. The rest of the appointment proceeded as normal with exercises. That evening I felt some wetness on my shoulder. As I examined it more closely, I had a 3 inch burn spot with large blisters draining. I returned to that office the next day and was told that such a burn had never happened before. I then proceeded to the Urgent Care office and was diagnosed with 2nd degree burns. I was prescribed an antibiotic cream to apply for the next 5 days. So not only am I dealing with the pain from my surgery, I also have to suffer with the pain from the burn. I will never allow any therapist to apply heat during my treatment.
