We absolutely love WCDC! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and part of a real community. My daughter has been attending this studio since she was 3 years old, and we cannot be happier with the experience and the instruction. The instructors are fantastic--they not only teach dance wonderfully, but also interact with each age group engagingly and appropriately. There are many opportunities for students to perform, in a recital and 2 shows each year, and the shows are of professional quality. This studio clearly produces excellent dancers that are preprofessional, but also ensures that students who just want to learn and have fun can also do so in a fun and supportive environment. Also, in the last 4 years we have seen no negative body talk from the instructors or in this studio's culture, which is critical for young dance students, very rare to find in a dance studio, and much appreciated by us parents. Absolutely Terrible Experience - Do NOT Waste Your Time Trying This Place! I cannot express enough how horrendous my experience with this dance studio was. I signed up for a trail for my daughter who is not quite 4 years old and I specifically asked if parents were allowed to stay with their children. I was told that was "absolutely allowed for all children under 6". Imagine my surprise when I showed up and was told that was NOT the case. I was told I could wait outside and view from a small and very dirty window. I can't comprehend how they can expect a child under 4 to be okay on their own in a new environment and in a room full of strangers. Oh but it gets better, right as we were leaving I got a text from my husband saying "this place is gross" and he was right. From the moment we walked in, the place was filthy and disorganized. They explained that they were preparing for recitals but I don't understand how that would mean they couldn't maintain basic cleanliness. It's beyond me how they can call themselves a "studio" when basic cleanliness seems to be a foreign concept to them. The instructors also appeared to be not of legal working age so I'm curious how they get around child labor laws. I would NEVER recommend this studio to anyone. There are so many other places where children can learn in a clean, respectful, and professional environment. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this dump. Save your time, money, and sanity. read more

We started coming here in 2020 when my daughter was 6 years old and I can honestly say I can't imagine my life without West Coast!! My daughter now spends about 12 hours/week there and it has become her "home away from home." This will be her third year on the competition team, which she loves. If you're not interested in competition, it's still a great experience and an amazing value for your money if your child is attending several classes per week. The instructors are fabulous and really care about the kids. I should also add that my daughter has made many sweet friendships from going to this studio! We have been at this studio for two and a half years!! We love it. My daughter can take time to warm up and the teachers and the woman up front, Fela, made her feel welcome and like she belonged. The teachers are amazing. My daughter takes all types of dance, I never thought I would say that. She was not a dancer and when we stared she only took musical theater and jazz funk. The teachers shared their love of dance with her and she is now taking every type of dance offered. She spends about 20 hours a week here and had made some wonderful friendships as well as her teachers are amazing mentors . The entire studio has a great atmoshphere and there is no tolerance for unkind behavior. Again, I cant say enough about the teachers here, Ms. Shelbi, Ms. Gabby, Ms. Amanda, Ms. Erin. Ms Dalia, Ms. Ashanti and Mr. Ryan and of course Fela up front. This crew is consistent, same teachers since we have started and truly passionate about what they do. Both my children have danced at West Coast for over three years. The teachers take an active interest in each students personal growth while maintaining a fun and relaxed environment. We love the general education classes (lyrical, jazz, ballet, hip hop, and jazz funk) but have also participated in the Nutcracker and Spring ballet productions, which are incredibly impressive while involving such a wide variety of young dancers! Cant say enough good things about all the instructors... they truly care about their students and promote a positive studio culture. read more

This studio is amazing. When you walk in for the first time or call, You are greeted by the kindest people. Fella , Erin and Maddie are all so kind. The teachers are amazing- Shelby and Maddie have taught my daughter so much. Their skill level is next level. Erin , is also so talented and a great teacher . I highly recommend this studio. We tried two others but this one was the perfect fit for us. They have an unlimited package which is wonderful - my daughter can be shy but she is so comfortable here. My 12-year old daughter has been going to WCDC for 9(!) years. It has changed owners a few times, but it has maintained its heart and soul in the foundation and love of dance. The current owner is dedicated to foster and support the growth of her instructors and program directors. We can't say enough great things! My daughter has had incredible instructors (Ms. Amanda! Ms. Erin! Ms. Sydney! Ms. Ana! Mr. Ryan! Ms. Emily! Ms. Shelbi! Ms. Megan! Ms. Trish!) teaching a variety of dance styles, ballet/contemporary/character/jazz/hip hop, plus musical theater/acting/voice. The studio offers many more classes as well, including tap, lyrical, and others. However, my daughter has absolutely flourished in the Ballet Academy Training Level track, under the direction of Amanda Daly (who I often refer to as the "pied piper of mini ballerinas"). It's because of Amanda that we have been here since age 3! She has an amazing talent at capturing the interest and focus of the littlest ones. My daughter's growth and love for ballet has grown exponentially over the years. Another special shout out to Erin Arbuckle. My daughter has LOVED learning from Ms. Erin. Where else would you find a teacher willing to toss on pointe shoes to help demonstrate proper technique to her students? AND teach them to moonwalk on pointe?!? These are just a couple examples of the excellence in teaching this studio offers . The amount of learning and fun the students have here is ridiculously high. Besides the lessons, WCDC also offers 2 full-length story ballets per year, experiences that all the ballerinas (young and not-as-young, including adults) embrace! My child LIVES for these performances where the young kids bond with the older girls, who end up being their role models throughout the years. I am a dancer here and it is such a great studio. The teachers are all so kind and fun to be in class with. All of the classrooms (studios) have large windows so they have great light and they feel very open. Along with dance classes, they also have singing and acting classes! West Coast Dance Complex is a top notch dance studio with an excellent pre-professional ballet dance program. It has all forms of dance training available. It is truly the real deal. First of all the studios are stunning. Four new big, bright dance studios are filled with tons of dance options for the tiniest dancer through teens. They even have adult ballet. My teenage daughter dances with outstanding teachers who are incredibly kind mentors to her, very serious and supportive about her desire for a future in dance. This is truly like a home away from home for us as we spend over 10 hours a week at the studio between classes and then involvement in their two amazing ballet productions each year. Lastly, the best thing is that this is a drama free studio. No dance Moms, the administrative staff are so helpful. I truly believe WCDC is the best dance studio in San Diego, and we've been to many! This studio has been through many changes in the last year and a half but I think the current owners/management now have the studio in a great place to move onward and upward. There are 3 ballet tracks to choose from based on your interest/commitment level. There are also a plethora of other dance classes to choose from. The quality of instruction is excellent - a shout out to ballet teachers Ryan and Amanda; also Gabi for jazz. There are not enough stars to rate West Coast Dance Complex at an appropriate level. Everyone who has a hand in teaching classes, directing shows, running the front desk is exceptional. We tried two Dance studios before finding out home for the past 5 years at West Coast and I was not confident a studio existed to elevate dancers, mentor and coach, amd meet the physical and emotional needs of my daughters. Don't send your child here for dance, this studio is just ridiculous. The owner is very moody and the whole studio is very unorganized. They clearly have their favorite dancers and if you are not one, then do not bother. I would not recommend this place to anyone, there are much better dance schools in the area. read more
