Call me biased; I don't care. I am a graduate student at this university. I decided on WCU after a plethora of research, interviews and applications. I was pretty stubborn initially, and really wanted to attend a college in the city, but this awesome university nestled in this awesome town lured me in.
From my perspective (working professional pursuing a masters degree), this university did more to accommodate me than any other college in this area. They host several open house events throughout the year where a rep from each program is available. It may seem like a small gesture, but they put out all sorts of drinks, cheeses, crackers, veggies, cookies and other snacks. For a working professional going to an open house directly from work, this was really a nice added touch. Also, there was a water ice stand set up -- that was really cool.
The programs are excellent and the scheduling is very convenient. The added bonus is that WCU has a payment plan option that enables students to make payments over the course of four months. I honestly don't know of any college in this area that does that.
The staff in each of the offices I've dealt with have always been extremely kind. Even my advisor (who also happens to be the professor of the class I'm taking this term and is also the director of the program) offered to register me for my classes so I don't have to go online and do it myself (because that would be so inconvenient for me, right?).
It is amazing the lengths they go to in order to help students.
The tuition is competitive with other area colleges. I'm in a program offered by every college in the south Jersey and Philadelphia area. I could go to a school much closer to home, but WCU is where I want to be -- and it's totally worth the 55 mile commute each way. read more
