I visited West Broad Honda a few days ago around 11:45 a.m. for a simple windshield wiper rubber replacement. When I arrived, I was told the mechanics were about to go to lunch in 15 minutes and I asked to come back at 1:00 p.m. I returned as instructed and ended up waiting over an hour total. That alone was frustrating, but what made the experience worse was how things were handled once my car was finally being worked on. A manager named Steven was loudly yelling at two mechanics to hurry up and move my car out of the way so other vehicles could get through. This happened right in front of me and came across as very unprofessional. I understand that service departments can get busy, but the lack of organization and the way staff were spoken to in front of customers was disappointing. Went to go look at a new Passport. Salesman showed me the "offer". On the "offer" was: $279 - splash guards, $200 - wheel locks, and $1950 - undercoating. When I asked him why these were on here his reply was, "we put these on all our cars". NOPE. Service Department that once was stellar is now a total ripoff machine. You're lucky. Our Honda Dealer, Richmond West Broad Honda in Virginia, charged us $1500 for a routine maintenance on a '22 CRV that uncovered a damaged door cylinder that caused the battery to die. I spent 8 hours, including drive time, at the dealer. Was shown the $400 material charges but NOT the $1000 labor. There were fluid(differential), oil, tire rotation, and inspection (which they proudly said was free)! I'm writing this as i sit in the dealer waiting for them to "diagnose" and repair the EXACT same issue. I'm at 1.5 hours waiting so far. For 12 years, we owned a 2010 CRV from the same dealer, under different and from what can see better management (for customers). Ww never had this type of repare bill. I understand costs are higher, but this is 3x or 300 % increase over $488 repair at year five. Either Honda is suddenly making crap cars, or this dealer is either incompetent or dishonest. I hope anyone reading this never has this experience. Update being charged $270 for a new battery. Labor is free. All total I'm at 11 hours of waiting or multiple trips to this dealer. Another positive visit, this time for a recall of a seat sensor. Easy to schedule, took me right in and accomplished the fix in less time than I expected. I have been using the West Broad Honda service center for oil, brakes and state inspections for many years and will continue to use them. I have low and high milage Hondas and feel the dealer is a much safer bet then the average shop. They specialize in Hondas and are competitive if you factor in paying more for genuine Honda parts. Yes, genuine Honda parts are more expensive than NAPA or other after-market brands but I rather pay more for the real thing and have the confidence it was installed as Honda would recommend. West Broad Honda was heroic in their effort to diagnose and repair an electrical issue caused by a rodent. I would have been fleeced by other shops given the enormity of the damage this rodent caused but I had the right rep and the right shop. Go to West Broad Honda service center and ask for Waylon Lloyd. You will be treated with kindness and a big smile! You will not be led to believe you should make egregious or erroneous repairs. I took my car in for an oil change, my appointment was at 8:00 a.m. I have the service package and I feel that because they couldn't get any money out of me because of already being paid for my car was pushed to the side. I brought my Odyssey to West Broad Honda to check for a jerking motion during acceleration in the lower gears. This was fin the morning on 7/8/25 at 7:30 am. At about 9:15 I received a text message with recommended service to be performed. At the end of the message are two buttons. One with "approve all" and one with review all". The total price for all those service items is $2,977.24. Looking at the line items I discovered many items that ether had been done recently or have nothing to do with the trouble shooting of the jerking motion during acceleration. Trying to call the service advisor resulted in me leaving a message. I wanted to clarify what really is needed to be done to address the issue I brought the car to Honda. Since the service advisor did not call back, I called for the manager of the service department. Here again, I could leave a message only. Now I called again to ask for the manager of the entire West Broad Honda operation. Same thing, now answer. I needed the car back in the afternoon and got increasingly concerned about running out of time. I decided to have my wife drive me to that shop. Firstly I was told the service manager is not available. Than they told me the shop manager is not available also. After insisting to talk to ether one or both of them they finally showed up. I was greeted by the store manager in a very hostile manor and he talked to me in a threatening way. He blamed me for not being patient. As I asked why there are so many items on the quote that do not pertain to the problem There are also items like new battery, new tires etc. that just had been replaced recently. He could not offer a logical explanation. It all boiled down, according to the manager of the service department, that a transmission fluid exchange should take care of the problem. As I asked for the price of this fluid flush/exchange he could not give me a price. After waiting for a while without getting this price I decided to get my car, paid for the diagnostic and left. I will never return to that place and if I ever need another car it will not be a Honda. I feel the way West Broad Honda is quoting and recommending service can be very misleading. If one is not technically inclined and/or does not understand the scope of the recommended work, it is easy to just press the "approve" button at the end of the text message. When my husband tried to get a service person on the phone to discuss their recommendations to fix a jerking motion of his 2017 Odyssey, no one answered the phone. According to the text message, it would cost $2500.00. Most of the recommendations were things that had been serviced at another repair shop. We went there to talk to someone in person, and had to wait to see the service manager. In the meantime, we asked for the general manager, who got very angry with my husband when he challenged the recommendations. The technician gave me an estimate that included "here is the minor repair that you really should do" to "this is a part issue that is expensive to fix since the whole piece needs to be replaced for a small air leak on the connector, but it shouldn't cause any damage (and you can probably go for hundreds or thousands of miles) as long as the air filtration warning light stays on with a solid color. If it blinks, uou need to stop driving immediately and get service or major damage will occur.) I asked about alignment and talked about whether I really needed it and we decided it wasn't necessary. So I got some recommended maintenance done that was sooooo much cheaper than if the technician had advised me that expensive repairs were required. So I never have an issue here with being price gouged etc and making an appointment is easy. I will say the last couple of times I've seen my car sit outside for a while before going to the service desks to ask and told yes it's done etc. That's the reason for the 1 star dock. My wife took her car there for the oil change, and they found out the light bulb was out in the back. And they said the wipers were a little worn. They wanted $400 to replace the light bulb and the wipers. My wife said we will do that ourselves. Just change the oil. after the oil change, to our surprise, we found out they put a Virginia State Police Rejection sticker on her car without telling us. My wife called back later and they realized their mistake. They thought her inspection was expired, which it wasn't for another 5 months, so they replaced her lightbulb and gave her a new inspection for free. read more

[Service Center/shuttle review only.] I have an older Honda Civic, so every now and again I'll take it to a dealership for service instead of a more affordable chain option. This time, I chose the dealership for two reasons: 1) the shuttle to work and 2) I wanted to replace my windshield inserts in addition to other routine maintenance. The shuttle downtown leaves at 8:40 a.m., which already feels late, but my experience was fairly horrific. The driver (who I'll pass on naming) took Broad Street straight down to Scott's Addition to drop off the only other person in the car first. Why not take 64...? She was also super opinionated, and her thoughts on life in general definitely didn't match my own. She even made a crack against a new build in SA...the exact one I'm moving into soon. She said nothing when I replied with that. Then, she asked me for directions to the business district because she doesn't use her GPS. I was trying to tell her to stay in the middle lane to turn right from Roseneath onto Broad to make a left onto Hamilton to get on 195, but she made a left and then blamed it on me in disgust, as if I was the problem. Like sorry, lady, you're the driver. She then insisted on getting off at the 2nd street exit rather than 9th street because "it'd be hard to merge in." At this point I had already told her I was super late to work because of her lack of urgency and inability to follow a navigation system, but she didn't reply and took the way she preferred. (By that time, there was no traffic and she easily could've merged in at 9th...) Not to mention that she jumped the curb turning into the lot *and* blocked traffic earlier in the ride. Fortunately when the service center called to let me know that I actually needed full new windshield wipers because my mom's church friend didn't understand that "inserts" meant "inserts" back in the summer, and they were out of windshield wipers. I Ubered back after work (after explaining the nightmare ride in) and they refunded the price of my ride share cost, so that was nice. I later returned on a weekend for the windshield wipers, and was in and out in no time. Prices were high; what you'd expect from a dealership. Service center was fine, but I'd pass on the shuttle service unless it happened to be a different, more efficient driver. read more

Came back today in 2021 to lease a pilot. Nice test drive, but ultimately a waste of time because we learned from the sales rep that West Broad Honda doesn't honor leasing prices as advertised on tv. We took my daughter's Honda in for a condenser replacement that was covered under an extended repair program. As part of that repair, the condenser and the labor to replace it including the evacuation and refill of freon was covered by Honda. They noted that one of the refrigerant hoses that runs between the condenser and compressor was also leaking and recommended replacing it. The cost they quoted was $420. This hose costs $60 and they charged $360 in labor. One end of the hose was already being disconnected from the condenser as part of that replacement. The other end is attached to the compressor with 1 nut that is easily accessible with the other work being done. I would be surprised if it took an additional 30 minutes to replace this hose. They refused to give me a time breakdown for the labor to replace this hose, just said the labor is $360. This dealership has a complete lack of integrity and ethics for charging this rate for such a simple job. I urge anyone who reads this to consider finding a good reputable repair shop to service their vehicle over this dealership. read more

We purchased our Odyssey from West Broad Honda back in 2020 and have begrudgingly been getting it serviced there since... until today. After several poor experiences with their customer service, they have finally pushed me over the edge and I will never step foot in their shop again. The situation was this: our sliding door wouldn't properly close. We paid $170 diagnostic fee for them to come back with a $500 sensor repair. Not fun, but ok. We went to test the door at pick up.... Still wasn't closing. They took the car back to the garage (a perfect flat surface) and voila it worked. Here's where they lost me as a customer - the customer service rep tried to tell me that their diagnostic only took into consideration elevated surfaces if we, the customer, specified that was a problem. So we should have known that our door was operational in the clinically perfect conditions of a car garage? For those familiar with West Broad Honda, when we "tested" the door, it was in the side parking lot. If you asked me, amateur that I am, I would have told you it was a flat surface, but there was enough of an incline that the door would not close. Money aside, West Broad Honda did not perform a diagnostic. We said in researching the issue we "thought" it was likely one of three things and they chose to do the quickest fix without any further consideration/exploration (or perhaps even doing a little post install test 10 feet from their garage. We would have waited the extra 10 minutes). We are not mechanics. We paid West Broad to diagnose the problem, but they chose throughput over service. When we bought the car, we should have seen the red flags - as we signed the paperwork and declined additional mechanical coverage, the Honda signing representative actually told us that Honda computer systems are likely to fail... great sales pitch! Of course the computer system wasn't our entire issue today, but when the people working there don't have faith in their product, it does make you think. We probably should have paused, but we've had/loved Hondas for years and chalked it up as she wasn't too good at her job. If you buy through them, just think really hard if you want to service your car there. Sadly, after three separate visits, I cannot give this Honda dealer anything more than a 1 star review. Please do not bother coming here. If I lived in Richmond, I'd travel to my usual Honda Priority in Newport News - only came here as they had the vehicle we wanted (the only red one for miles, too) in stock. Firstly, Mike was great with my husband on his first visit - did not force him into buying a car from him. My husband said his experience was great that time. However, when trying to schedule an appointment to have the package that we bought with the car arranged, the lady on the phone scheduled us on a Saturday "choose a day... any day, I don't care... sure. Saturday is fine." (let's just say her customer service was SO poor. Never experienced anything like it before.) That Saturday came, we got up at 6am from N.News and drove to RVA for 8.30. When we arrived, we weren't in the system for the pro pack - but for an oil change? A car with barely 600 miles needing an oil change? I think not. So we left the car for the pro pack (which would take a whole day we were told) and also told the service team member we had issues with the GPS too, it wasn't syncing or doing its thing - the main reason we chose the H-RV, and it's only 3 weeks old. We were called about 30 minutes later by Mike, the manager, to say he was sorry but pro packs are never done on Saturday's... he seemed genuine, so we just put it down to the lady on the phone being terrible at her job. So we rescheduled for the following Friday. That Friday came. This Honda dealer does not provide a courtesy car, or even a shuttle run to take you to somewhere to kill time. He was called at midday and asked what was wrong with the GPS, because they couldn't figure out the problem. They also told him, they hadn't started on the pro pack. Midday... and nothing sorted. They then called him back to tell him that we hadn't paid or there is no record of paying for the package... unbelievable! We bought our car with the package. Whatever is going on here is ridiculous. A few hours later the car was done, and upon picking up the vehicle, my husband wanted to talk to the manager, whom gave him a few seconds of his time before blowing him off for a couple that just walked in through the doors... Thank goodness we never have to go back to this dealer again - unless something happens to the car whilst it is under warranty (pray for us it doesn't, please, we don't want to ever have to come back here again.) If I could give zero stars I would. Brought my car in for maintenance, oil change. They tried to tell me I needed brake fluid exchange, done on last service 9 months ago, and transmission fluid exchange, done a year and a half ago (needs to be done every 3 years). Three days later every warning light came on in my car but car was running just fine. I took it to a mechanic for a diagnostic and they told me there was nothing showing up and to take it back to the dealership to have it reset. I explained everything to the Honda service department about what happened and they insisted they needed to do their own diagnostic. $182 and 3.5 hours later I was told it was fine but rear brakes needed to be replaced. They were fine a week previously when I had my car in for the oil change. Also stated valves were leaking and keep in mind the car needs a major tune up very soon at 110K miles. My car is 7 years old and has 71K miles so 110K miles isn't around the corner. They are a total rip off charging $182 to reset the warning lights that just happened to go off 3 days after having my car in for service. I won't even get into how rude everyone in the service department is. ABSOLUTELY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR THERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME! read more

The cell phone interface system in my CRV went out. I contacted Honda directly and they went through the linking process with me, and said there was a problem with the car. I called Wallace Automotive and they told me I needed to go to dealer to get it fixed. I went to West Broad Honda. They told me it would cost $50 to do a diagnostic check, and asked for my phone so they could make sure the problem was not with my phone. I told them the problem was the car. I assumed they would determine what the problem was with the car. They did their thing, told me it was the car, and I owed them $50. . They then told me it would cost $250 to do a diagnostic evaluation to determine what was wrong with the car, and the cost to actually fix the problem would be considerable. Had to fight tooth and nail to get them to do fuel pump recall repair. They kept saying they didn't have enough parts, recall stated they had to replace the part if car was having mechanical issues (it wasn't starting and would consistently stall when it did) after speaking with service manager I finally got scheduled to have it fixed. Since it has been fixed (10 days) it has failed to start 7 times and seems to not be getting power to battery which is brand new. When speaking with service manager Eddie, he was extremely dismissive, said they didn't do anything wrong, fixing fuel pump shouldn't cause what was happening. Told him I understood this but it wasn't an issue before they touched the car. Battery is brand new so shouldn't have the problem. He then proceeded to call me a woman, multiple times, and did not apologize and fix his attitude and misgendering until I said I'd be filing complaint. West Broad Honda Richmond, wasn't a bad place to buy a car from. It's one of the smaller Honda dealerships in the area, but it was spacious enough inside. The free water and coffee was nice. The salesman that I worked, Cory, with was nice and accommodating to all my needs and questions. I had a strict budget and against all odds, Cory was able to work the car I wanted down to a price within my budget! He also continues to provide support post-sale, so that's really nice of him. The process with going through buying a car here was pretty standard. They'll handle the paperwork and such for you. If I were to rate this dealership alone, it would be a lower rating. However, because Cory was pleasant to work with, I'm going to boost it up because he made the experience much more enjoyable. We need more Cory's in this world! read more

After several trips to West Broad Honda for scheduled and unscheduled services, I can confidently advise people to drive the extra distance for maintenance at another facility. For scheduled service, the wait time is not horrific and the staff usually remains punctual. However, the customer service is appalling. From the start, the receptionist had an attitude on the phone and couldn't schedule me for two weeks. When advised my inspection sticker would be expiring, I was told that was poor planning on my side (even though it was mid-month). I was yelled at to get back in my car and wait for an advisor to come to me, mid conversation personal calls were taken, the car was returned dirty with a smoke smell, and so in. Personally, I am use to facilities that go the extra mile from accommodating urgent matters to a friendly demeanor to returning a clean car. If you have an emergency, forget it! They are never able to help day off and often say you can come a week later for a scheduled visit. With a dead battery and/or car that needs towing, that doesn't help at all. I have been a loyal customer to West Broad Honda for 4+ years. Customer service (especially over the phone) is awful. They act like people really want to have to call/make an appointment for their vehicle?? Not I. Don't even bother trying to wait there for a simple oil change or state inspection unless you want to wait 2+ hours. The coolest part about the waiting room is the fish tank and that's about it. However, I had a pleasant experience today working with the service department member Leslie. I was late to my oil change/state inspection appointment today because my 2017 Honda Civic wasn't starting. I had tried to vacuum the car out before I brought it in and apparently the battery died somehow and needed to be jumpstarted. I explained to Leslie what happened and she was not only super nice about it, but understanding and did her all to accommodate me. She's awesome. I'd give this review 5 stars if it were only about her. Brought my 2016 Pilot in for scheduled maintenance, in addition to looking at a leaking Windshield Wiper Reservoir. Was told it was shot, and needed to be replaced for $500. Seriously??? Never had a Wiper fluid reservoir fail in any other owned vehicle in my life. Paid for my maintenance and got home to enter notes into my vehicle spreadsheet. Noticed they didn't do the oil change and tire rotation I requested. They had the vehicle ALL day and still screwed up. I'm never buying another Honda or dealing with these clowns again. The customer service is absolute garbage. They answer the phone with an attitude, answer questions with an attitude and overall just rude. You have a job to do, you're representing Honda, if you don't want to deal with people, get out of customer service. Treat people the way you want them to treat you. I've never seen such unprofessionalism. I'd give this place 0 stars if I could. read more
