The good: They do good work. I've had excellent tax help from them every time. Getting the most refund possible. In fact, the one time I didn't use them because they were full, I ended up paying a ton of taxes. Dale is absolutely fantastic. He's what keeps us going there. The not so good: they take a long time. They're not great at communicating when they're super busy during tax season (but REALLY great communicating the rest of the year). They will not deliver on the expected date, but it will all get handled eventually. read more

Notice the trend here: very poor reviews with West Accounting responding how it isn't their fault. Bottom line is, they are absolutely terrible, unorganized, mismanaged, and apparently overrun by too much on their plate--basically all the characteristics you look to avoid in selecting an accountant. Went in the middle of February for my appointment. I was new in town and asked a friend who he used for accounting (he has since fired West Accounting and profusely apologized to me for sending me there). My appointment was to set up a new LLC and get advice on starting a new business. During the appointment, Reed West asked if I wanted them to also do my taxes as I said that would be fine. A month passes. No word. I call and they say it will be a couple more days. Another two weeks pass. No word. I'm emailing, I'm calling, nothing. Finally an email from Reed: we are too busy with tax season to deal with the LLC, will get that after tax season ends. In the meantime, I FINALLY get my taxes back the night before the deadline--basically no time to review anything. It took two months to do my taxes, all the while I'm stressing because they suck at communicating. Jump ahead a month and I go into the office to pick up my source documents to take them to another accountant to redo my taxes and finally get my LLC set up (he did it in 10 minutes while I was sitting there), and West Accounting couldn't find my source docs because they are so frickin unorganized. I had to come back three days later to give them time to look for them. Hey, it's your choice. Go here if you want, but please read the reviews and think long and hard about it. There are wayyyyyy better options!!! And since I'm still sitting in their parking lot writing this review, if any of you do feel so inclined to still walk and trust your finances to these clowns, tell them to hire a landscaper. I have used this company for 4 years. They get worse every year and I am done. they can not get taxes completed on time, even if you give them documents ahead of time. They cover their ass by filing extension. trying to contact them is a jok. I had to hound them for 3 month, rarely return calls to get my taxes done. then they added charges to my bill for "excess time and energy". my taxes are so basic, no business, no complicated investments, no school/scholarship payback, just basic taxes. how the hell does that require extra effort? this company is lazy and crooked. do NOT go here unless you want to get brushed off and ripped off. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE! If only I could give them Zero Stars! Wow what a horrible experience. Made an appointment to get my taxes done. Met with Dale West with 3 weeks to go before the filing deadline. He assured me I would have preliminary numbers to look at within a week. I called numerous times over the next three weeks, culminating with 5 calls the last week. Finally on Tax Day I was told that if they didn't have the taxes done that they would file an extension for me. At 9:30 pm that night I was told that Dale would email me a payment voucher so I could pay my taxes. I had no opportunity to view the taxes prior to filing or prior to making a payment. Since then I have repeatedly asked to see my tax returns and to get my supporting documentation. It has been four weeks since tax day, still nothing. I called again today, they said they would print them and mail them today. Sure they will. read more

I give this business a "Vote of No confidence". So sorry I used this business. I was referred by a family member since I am new to the area. I've had to contact the office manager to even get a return call and thankfully she has kept me informed. But we are at the Friday before Tax Monday. Really wish I would have looked up the rating on this place before I used their service. Will NOT be going here again. I was told 2 weeks to file and I would get an email. 2 weeks go by and nothing. Someone I know had an appt to get theirs done 2 days after mine and they are all set. Figured they would work mine before theirs since my appt was 2 days earlier. Called on wed was told everything was fine just finishing up and I would have my figures Thursday at the latest..... nothing. Friday called twice they assured me someone would call me back. Because of poor communication, service and an overall feeling that I was unappreciated as a customer I chose not to do business with Dale and West & West Accounting again. No need to get into the details, but we are very displeased with how the people of this business operate. For the price the preparation of your taxes is good. But the customer service and time in which your taxes are filed is atrocious you're lied to from the very beginning. They file extensions without even speaking with you first and it doesn't matter when you set up your appointment whether it's the beginning of the tax season or towards the end it doesn't matter. You sat down with them they type in the information but in the end you find out nothing's been done. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone just for the fact their customer service is the worst I've ever seen in my life. read more

This place is great for personal taxes. And even small businesses. But for sales and use tax. It's a no go. You can drop off your paper and give them all of your information and yet they still don't follow up. I think they are too busy and need more staff. Worst service EVER. I have had them do my taxes for several years for both my personal and business taxes. The first year was not bad, the next year our taxes seemed to get passed around the office and when I would call with questions I could never get a straight answer and the receptions were rude and unprofessional ( in attitude and dress). I turn in my tax information the first or second week of January so as to get things done promptly and it took until well into February to get filed, our taxes are not that complicated. This year, which will be our final year with this company, I turned my paperwork in the second week of January 2017 and we didn't get filed until March 28! I was repeatedly told when I called for updates that an email had been sent requesting information (emails I only got one time), I requested phone calls instead, this never happened. This made our 1120s late, I received a notice from IRS stating we had been fined for late filing. I called West and West and they lied and said our return had been timely filed and the notice was incorrect and they would handle it. May 19 I received a notice of intent to lien from the IRS due to non-payment of my fine. This time I personally contacted the IRS and was told that my return was in fact filed late and the fine was valid, no extension had been filed or any contact by West ad West other than the efile on March 28. I contacted West and West and was this time given the story that they had filed and extension and contacted them regarding the fine, neither of which was supported by the IRS. I asked if a copy of the extension could be emailed to me so I could personally take care of this, because with all of the run around I have gotten I no longer have faith that they do what they say. The only thing I did like about them was that they didn't require the bill paid until I got my refund, so Reed informed my that I could get the extension only after my bill was paid. They have been paid for every service they have provided in the 4 years I used them, so to be told that they would do nothing until they had my money like I was a new customer was beyond rude and inconsiderate considering I was so upset because of their late filing. I ended the phone call because I had customers calling and was left a message by Reed threatening legal action if they didn't get their money, without mention to the fact that the IRS was trying to put a lien because of late filing that they lied to me about. Save yourself the time, energy, and frustration and USE SOMEONE ELSE!!!!! read more

Complete awful customer service. The first year I went to them they lost my tax packet. When I called to see what was taking so long they indeed informed me it was lost. Why didn't they call me to let me know? Poor customer service. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. This year I got audited education of $2000. I had no idea what to do, what it meant, what info to provide or anything. I called multiple times, got hung up on, said I would get calls back.. nothing. I also sent detailed emails to reed asking for help. The audit had a deadline so I paid the $2000 2016 audit with my 2017 return. Once I received a bill I explained why I didn't think I should pay it because I hardly got any service and the service I did get was awful. Also I had asked for my packet to be sent to me through the mail... NEVER received. (Another reason I shouldn't have to pay for something I never received). When I brought this to his attention he said I could log into the client portal or pay $15 for it to be sent through mail. Another thing they NEVER mentioned. Why tell me you will mail it if you have no intention of doing so? Awful customer service. Through email he offered 15% off and when I said I was going to write a review he then decided to no longer give me a discount. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE. They do NOT care about their clients. I had referred people there and now those people i will have go to my new tax person. I'm sure they will write a response trying to justify this but obviously by the poor reviews I'm not the only one! Safe yourself the hassle! Used to be great. This most recent time, they took forever and even filed an extension for my uncomplicated taxes. They didn't even tell me. I called and was told that, when my taxes were dropped off, whomever dropped them off signed an acknowledgement that my taxes might have to be extended. My father dropped them off and he told me he didn't sign a thing. The time I called after that, I was lied to about paperwork I needed to provide, only to find out that I actually DIDN'T need to provide such paperwork. Then, after THAT, I was told their computers were down for a week. I emailed Dale to convey my frustrations, but was never contacted back. It took my father calling them and demanding answers before they finally got my taxes done. Awful, just awful. I never got so much as an apology for their unprofessional practices. Plus, I was charged more this year than any previous year. I'm taking my taxes elsewhere from now on and my family members said they're doing the same.
