He LOVES video games though, and we were excited to hear about Code Ninjas, where he could take his passion and learn something new and fun with others. We signed up to get information. And when I received an email about an upcoming Among Us event, where kids would play the game digitally and in person, I knew this would be right up his alley. We signed him up. Registration was easy - we signed up online, and they called to confirm. When the day of the event rolled around, we dropped him off and within minutes received an text that read simply, "I'm having a really good time!!!" (Followed by various emojis) At the conclusion of the event, our son could not stop raving about what a good time he had. Code Ninjas called us a few days later and offered us a free coding session. Every child seems to have a place in her classroom, and every child seems to thrive under her care. What stands out most to us is how genuinely kind she is. Children know when an adult truly cares about them, and our son absolutely adores her. Even though she is no longer his regular classroom teacher, he still runs to hug Miss Babita every time he sees her. That tells us more than almost anything else could. As parents, there is an enormous amount of trust involved in leaving your child with someone every day. With Miss Babita, we always felt that our son was in the hands of someone who cared about him, understood him, taught him, guided him, and wanted him to succeed. She is patient when patience is required, firm when structure is needed, encouraging when a child needs confidence, and loving throughout all of it. She has that rare ability to command a classroom without ever losing her gentleness. Miss Babita is an exceptional educator and an exceptional human being. The Goddard School is incredibly fortunate to have her, and any child who gets to spend a year in her classroom is fortunate too. If we could give her more than five stars, we absolutely would. We waited a few weeks after withdrawing him before sharing our experience because we wanted to be sure he was adjusting well in a different environment and he truly is. Pros: Good curriculum and a clean, secure facility. Cons: From the very first day, his teacher (Angela) repeatedly told us that he "doesn't listen," and that first impression never seemed to change. Instead of partnering with us, we felt that our son was being singled out with a continued negative focus. We tried to discipline him more at home based on this feedback, and in hindsight, we regret how this affected him. Communication was almost nonexistent. We asked for weekly updates and only received one. The school app, where teachers are expected to communicate, had very limited personalized information. Interactions with his teacher often felt unfriendly. When we greeted her in the mornings, she provided cold response, which made us feel unwelcome rather than supported. Management was unaware of these ongoing issues until we brought them up. While they expressed willingness to help, but we felt that their suggestions were not convincing. We completely understand that teachers can be firm, that is perfectly fine. But fairness and collaboration matter. When a child is viewed through a negative lens from day one, that can impact not only their confidence but also the parent-school relationship. We ultimately removed him because we did not want him in an environment that felt discouraging. He is now attending a new Pre-K program and has adjusted wonderfully. In several weeks, we have not received a single complaint from his new teachers. This reassured us that his struggles at Goddard were not due to who he is as a child, but the environment he was placed in. Most reviews for this school are very positive, and that is exactly why we feel obligated to share our honest experience. If we had known, we would not have enrolled our son here. We are pleasantly greeted every morning by Ms. Sheema, Ms. Rissa, Mrs. Gayon and the owner which makes my son so eager to come to school. Special mentions for the schools chef Ms. Jojo she prepares healthy fresh food daily that smells delicious everyday. It can be a task to feed the little ones and she does so with grace. Our child's class was also moved for two weeks into a younger classroom that felt overcrowded for that age mix. For a toddler who needs routine, that level of churn was disruptive. When the second lead resigned abruptly, we chose to withdraw. The school enforced a 45-school-day withdrawal clause, effectively billing families for two school months after notice. Hard to reconcile was the asymmetry: families must guarantee 45-school-days of tuition, yet leadership at times appeared to give staff as little as one week's notice of termination; in other cases, staff were listed as "on vacation" and didn't return. Whether that reflects limited loyalty from management toward staff or low staff loyalty to the workplace, it ultimately points to a management-level failure to foster a supportive environment that keeps staff committed--while families are asked to shoulder the cost of the resulting staffing and retention issues via the 45-school-day policy. If you visit the school, ask detailed questions about current turnover, staffing ratios, contingency plans, and how the 45-school-day policy is applied when staffing changes disrupt a classroom.
