Very dated decor. Rooms are large w a refrigerator. Not the Ritz but the owners are VERY nice. The location is close to shopping.

A nice place to stay in Middletown. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. On…read moreChristmas morning, we were pleasantly surprised with a stocking that included a bottle of water and some candy, which was a thoughtful touch. There was ample parking available, and the lobby restaurant was adorable. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The only minor issue was some chipping on the bed's headboard. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay.

My wife and I booked here when our preferred hotels in New Haven were sold out. Our room with two…read morequeen beds was reasonably clean and spacious. The hallways and the room itself had a strong smell of bleach. I appreciate having a clean and disinfected room but this was a LOT of bleach. Our room was also showing signs of age: mold on the caulk ring around the tub spout; one upholstered headboard had what I can only describe as claw marks; and there was a line on one wall running along the ceiling that probably wasn't mold, but looked too much like mold not to resolve. There were also two hairs on the shower enclosure by the shampoo dispenser etc. Noise was tolerable. Occasionally car or motorcycle noise was quite loud. The usual children running in the hallway at 9am. Didn't hear anything from adjacent rooms other than door slamming, but we did have white noise playing pretty loudly. There was a wedding so I have to guess that we were far away from the guests. You have your choice of paid valet parking or Self parking in the back. We chose self parking. There aren't a ton of spots so I don't know what happens if they are full. Your room key gives you access to a rear entrance from the parking lot. There's a sign--we found the door, but the door itself was not clearly marked. It also lets you into a stairwell that feels slightly sketch. If I were a single woman I might feel uncomfortable using it. Perhaps a silly point but I hate that they pipe in music in front of the inn. It feels so cheap to me and so unnecessary. Just a pet peeve. In conclusion, I would avoid coming back. This feels like a place where standards and maintenance are starting to slip.

I would not stay here again…read more Pros: - Close to quick eating places - Close to Walmart - Right off the highway - The guy who works in the Bistro in the evenings is great! - Sauna in the women's locker room - Fridge and microwave in room - Cups are "sealed" as cleaned Cons - room 322: - Old hotel that has been lightly spruced up (you know the term - putting lipstick on a pig - yeah, this is it) - see pic with old electrical - Beds are super uncomfortable - 1 of 4 pillows needed to be replaced years ago - Mold growing in the shower (on the soap dispensers and on the shower curtain) - Bath tub needed to be scrubbed (looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months - good thing I had shower shoes with me) - Furniture is super old - Shower head needs to be replaced - No heating in hall leading from elevator to rooms - Shower did not have cold water - it was scalding hot (glad I didn't have a kid I needed to bathe or the kid would have been seriously burned)

Our room was spacious, on the third floor and was very clean, however one of the lamps in the room did not work. There was a small coffee bar with pods provided, and water cups. Shower had good water pressure and there was ample towels provided. The bed was comfortable but the pillows sucked. The room they had our event in was spacious, and clean as well. They served food (one meat (chicken), mashed potatoes and two different times of veggies, three different salad options with dressings and an assortment of breads. Dinner was great, desserts were so so. But they did have a large assortment of those as well. Water, lemonade & iced tea were all available on each table and there was also a bar available for cocktails or beers. I'd recommend using this space for future events for anyone looking.

This Hampton Inn is only about six years old, but feels older and not as well maintained compared…read moreto other Hampton Inns we've stayed at. We usually stay here when visiting friends in the area. The rooms don't seem well constructed-while were were simply walking around the room for less than 10 minutes the front desk called to say the guests below us were complaining about stomping. At that point, we were already siting down, which suggests the floors are poorly insulated. Breakfast was the standard Hampton Inn offering and fairly average. The location is the bigger plus-close to friends, along with several of our old favorite restaurants and coffee shops. The staff is friendly, and the hotel does offer a workout room and pool. Overall, its a decent place to stay, but there's room for improvement.

Andrew the General manager can stop scamming guests! Watch out. Customers beware…read more Andrew, the general manager is a scam artist. He likes to charge people's charge account after the booking was canceled in advanced and yet claims they checked in, but somehow cannot show proof, license, or video that the guest was there. And then when asked to provide proof, he sends me and the bank somebody else's information. Definitely a privacy and HIPAA violation. Glad I have that customer's name, address and number, I sent him a nice letter to inform him. Funny part of this story was I cancelled the original booking because of a location error and rebooked to a Holiday Inn but a different location and checked into that location... lol so I guess I'm a magician that can be at two places the same time!! Scan and fraud.... Wonder if corporate knows he violated someone's personal privacy.

The front desk…read moregirl with less than stellar customer service told me this right off and I said but I don't have a car, I use Ubers... she then said, "oh okay I'll take it off then." This made me curious so I asked more questions. I asked her is this something that you add automatically? She said yes, then I asked how do you know who even has a car parked and who doesn't? She said it's just an automatic charge. I asked, is there some type of form you need to fill out with your license plate number or something? She said no. This is the craziest policy I've ever heard and It made me wonder how many people have been ripped off with this ridiculous fee lol. I was literally dumbfounded. Our TV didn't work in our room, I call front desk and spoke to the same "ball of fire" at the front desk to let her know this and she said, "I'll send maintenance up." Maintenance came up just to tell us he doesn't know how to fix these smart tv's and its supposed to be another company that fixes them, he said he would let the front desk know it's not working lol I never received a call back from the front desk. Wasted time! Long story short I fixed the tv myself by unplugging it for about 10 minutes so it could reset. I hate staying here but it's literally the only available option that's close to my family when I come in from out of state. Each time I hope for it to get better but it doesn't lol. Not to mention every time I have come to this hotel to stay and it's a lot, The staff are always different there's never long term employees here, which says a lot.

Something has changed for the worse. We have been regular customers with stays about 5 times per…read moreyear and during our last two visits we have noticed a dramatic decline. Breakfast has become severely limited in comparison to previous years. All safe gluten-free options, once plentiful, are now absent with the exception of apples. Individual yogurts have been replaced by a communal cross-contaminated container, etc. Even for my husband with no food allergies, the options have dwindled to powdered eggs and waffle or cereal as more desirable items are not replaced for the following day. Checkin was difficult as the staff was not ready and rooms were not available until 4:30pm. Housekeeping must have been rushed because there was goopy mess on the bathroom faucet and spills on the nightstand. I found a housekeeper in the hall who gave me tissues sprayed with cleanser so I could clean the surfaces. Vomit on the sidewalk at checkin remained throughout our stay despite notifying the front desk. Our sleep was impaired by a flapping sound coming from the bathroom vent which continued throughout the night and day. The nice perks we used to receive (a goody bag with snacks and waters at checkin) no longer happen. We are disappointed because this had become our home away from home - but our last two stays have us wondering whether we need to find a new place for the future. Certainly no longer worth the $270 - $370/nt we have paid, depending on timing. We are hoping that a negative review will result in improvements.
