It's hard for me to believe I'm downrating a financial institution that I've been with for over thirty years. In the past, I used to speak of Wescom's great service and helpfulness. I contacted the local Laguna Niguel branch in order to obtain information concerning a new mortgage. My property is currently free and clear. I waited a day to hear from the loan officer associated with this branch. When no call came, I called his cell phone number, and indicated on the business card I'd received at the branch. The loan officer gruffly replied that my condo would not qualify, most likely, since it was a coop. I pointed out that I had a condo and not a coop, despite being in Laguna Woods. He said, well if you do qualify, you'll be getting the loan at these rates and costs, but probably may not qualify due to age restrictions. He promised to call back with all of the details. I never heard from him. Is this how to treat a loyal customer who has been with you since 1981? I had a real estate loan with Wescom for years and had no problems. I've had thousands of dollars in Wescom's care over the years. What did I do wrong to deserve this poor treatment? The worst experience!!!!! We spend most of our day attempting to complete a simple transaction! The agent we dealt with was Maribel, who did not know how to operate a computer and required help throughout the process. After spending most of the day there, we received a call that there was more paperwork that was NOT completed. I previously written awful reviews regarding Wescom Credit Union and while those review are still valid I must give credit to where credit is due. A recent auto accident left me in a place where I have no choice but to purchase a vehicle While at the dealer my husband ask if I called the bank for an auto loan, I said no. 30 minuets prior to the bank closing the girl on the phone said I was pre-qualified but I had to get to a branch before they close in 20 minuets. I got there in 5 minutes and was out the door with a blank check in under 10 minutes 100% approved. Thieves! Potential CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT in the making!! Any good lawyers should consider this a fantastic opportunity to get involved. In Nov 2007, June 2008, Sep 2009, and in Feb 2010 we requested to remove "overdraft" protection. Each time we received verbal confirmation while in the branch that the overdraft protection was removed, but it was not. I would use the Visa debit card to buy a $2.35 item and the charge would be approved, only to find out that Wescom would charge $30 for the service that we had removed several times before. So you end up paying the $2.35 + $30 in total. Afterwords I would request the service to be removed and to be reimbursed for the $30 since I never wanted the service. Wescom would consistently remove only half of the $30 fees that should have been removed. After hundreds of dollars paid in fees and multiple request to have the service removed and multiple confirmations that the service was removed, it still remains. If there are enough of us that have had this experience lets ban together and file a class action law suit. I expect to pay fees on services I requested or even fees for services that I did not request. I should NOT be paying for fees for services that were clearly communicated as unwanted and confirmed as being removed. Considering this took place over such long period of time we can only conclude this as theft. read more

I too like many have been a member for over 30 years and multiple (6) accounts. Tried applying for a loan recently and they wanted all kinds of docs and requirements like income, bank statements, and so on.. Income ( yet I have direct deposit). The funny thing is all my accounts are with Wescom and they acted like they don't know a thing about me. They also hire employees who have major attitude problems. Lisa at the Mission Viejo branch is a perfect example. Every time I went to that branch she made her point to make sure I got her so she can be the rudest person and try every attempt to make a simple transaction very difficult. She had it for me and not sure why. Could it have been that as a member for 30 years I knew more than average member and called her out when she made mistakes and got corporate office involved once. Yes I agree with other members and fellow yelpers in that Wescom lost its roots when it was Telephone Employees Credit Union some years ago. TECU was founded by 3 telephone workers for the purpose of helping others get away from big banks horrible service and fees. Well I must say Congrats Wescom you scammed us all by believing your different than the big banks. You just made yourself equal with all the fees and horrible service. Just by having an account for 30 years and your whole family banking with same bank means nothing anymore. Your just a number now, even when all your banking is done with them. They still don't know you.... No wonder why members leave.. It's Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citibank all over again. Time to look for a new bank.... read more

What can I say I have been with Wescom for a decade. I am much happier with a credit union then a regular bank. Although I have moved to San Diego I still haven't brought myself to leave Wescom. I recently had my card number stolen and had to cancel it. I did this on the over night fraud line. I was informed I could come into the branch and get a replacement card or wait in the mail. Luckily I was headed to Orange County the next day so I decided to stop in. The replacement process was simple after a few quick verifications. They also have a coin star machine in there and for members it is no charge to use so it was nice to deposit $50 in change hahaha. Thanks for always being so easy to use. read more

Walked into the branch with Cashier Check in hand looking to open an account and also refinance an existing auto loan in the next few months. I was told that I had previously had an account (which I did not) I was told I needed to write a letter to the bank explaining why I thought I should be allowed to have a bank account with them. I walked into US Bank and they were more than happy to accept my deposit and earn my business. Any bank that I need to convince to take my money does not deserve my business. With so many great financial establishments do yourself a favor and stay away from this one. read more

******READ******* I have been a member of Wescom since 2014. Ive never had an issue with this bank until now. Lets start off with my HOME branch is the one off State College and Katella. My account was WRONGFULLY CLOSED because someone at this location READ the check systems REPORT WRONG. I had an account with another bank and let it slip once. I paid the account then closed it because that bank did not have a lot atms that i could use close to me. I sticked with wescom but wescom branch threw me out. I tried everything they asked me to do BUT my account was still closed even after showing the teller who showed the branch manager I did not owe the older bank money. To whoever decided to make that decision. You have made me waste time and gas trying to resolve this issue. Made run around only for my account to be closed regardless. Lets not forget the bank teller who claimed to have given me an extension but did not do so. Thank you Bailey for lying to my face and leaving me the most happiest voicemail that i am no longer a member. I was NOT offered to open an account as a new member or told one will be made for me due to the BANK REPS ERROR. I was bot told what would happen to the money that remained in the account ($150). I did my research and was well pleased with the result. Wescom treats me right, and is very low stress. They set me up with a low interest car loan, a great savings and checking account, and some very helpful staff. I've never seen the line in this place get that long, and if it does, most of the service can be provided by the two ATM's outside or the computer stations inside. read more

Wescom sucks! I had 180 dollars in my checking account and a $28.41 transaction was declined. I subsequently had my evening ruined by a third party call center disturbing my Saturday night about the SAME transaction. Maybe I should blame the economy for the 3-star review. When I first became a member, I was very happy. I kept a minimum balance to avoid paying fees and enjoyed having a picture of my dearly departed kitty on my ATM card. The were open on Sundays and life was good. Then they stopped being open on Sundays. And most recently, they changed their "point system" (which is too detailed to get into here), which prompted me to close my account. I went in there expecting to get the runaround, but I felt kind of depressed when I walked in there. First, I think I was the only customer in there. Second, there were only 2 tellers. I told the guy I wanted to close my account, and there was no trying to win me back. I just filled out a form and VOILA! I had a check in my hands! Then a few days ago, I got a comment card on why I closed my account. But there was no begging to get my business back. That kinda made me think maybe I should re-open my account and close my account and my other bank. I love that they're not groveling at my feet and pestering me! read more

Stay away from Wescom as your Insurance Broker! I have had Mercury Insurance with Dempsey Insurance Brokers for decades. I have multiple houses insured through Mercury. One property has two houses on the same lot. The addresses are 916 and 9161/2. One house is insured now and now one isn't. I sent payments as usual when billed. One must not have been received by Wescom. I called Wescom and was told that they had tried to contact me by phone and email. I never received an email or a call from them regarding the one house they did not receive payment for. When I questioned them Wecom gave me a phone number that was incorrect and an email that is incorrect. Wescom said it was a mistake and a typo. Now they said they have to rewrite the one that was cancelled. I was told my policy would raise $150.00 per year due to the rewrite. I have had no claims on this policy ever. It does not take a great intellect for them to question why one house was paid and one not. I was promised a call on Friday at 9am to resolve. No call. I am going to pursue and probably change all properties to another company. Do not tell me you will call if you are not going to follow through. read more

I, too have been a member for many years and the my experience over the last few visits a r this location have been awful. Their customer service is worst than a large bank and they offer no solutions. Just a simple sorry or promise to do better next time. Maybe it is their lack of trained representatives or that they don't care about its membership. I tried to use my Wescom Visa Gold card (that I have held for 14 years!) the other day only to be told it was expired. When I called Wescom to find out why I still had not received the new one, they informed me that they had closed the account! They claim they hold the right to close an account for any reason. I told them they have to NOTIFY me! They claimed they sent me a letter w/ a particular date. When I dug up the last statement I had just received, it was dated AFTER this supposed letter...yet, oddly enough, did NOT reflect ANY changes to my account! You would think it would state the account was closed! As I was speaking to the customer service rep, I told her I was looking at the account online and it showed an available balance. All of a sudden, the screen went blank and then said it had logged me out due to inactivity for too long a time. When I logged back in...what do you know! The account all of a sudden said zero balance! As if my phone call had initiated all of this! After researching Wescom, I have found that they may be the next bank to go belly up! They make bad loans to themselves (Board of Directors) and have too many credit accounts opened. To pay for all of this, they are now charging monthly fees for services that used to be free. Or if you jump thru 5 fiery hoops, you can get free checking. Whoopee! They also are doing the whole BofA trick of holding ATM debits too long and then putting them through out of chrono order to gain as many fees as possible. They actually held an ATM debit for 17 days on me, once! They claimed they had no control, but the store said they had never heard of a bank holding one for so long and there was no reason why it should have sat there like that. AT&T Union needs to rethink their association with this "Credit Union"! They have gone way down hill! Look them up in any review and watch the REVIEWS GET WORSE as time progresses! I predict they will go belly up very soon. read more

Couldn't figure out why my son's $40 co-pay at the Dr. office was declined when I know I had over over $2k credit available...for emergency purposes. Called the bank and they decided to cut my credit limit in half so now I am over my limit...after just having made py next months payment early. Been a member for 20 years and carry my auto loan and insurance with them... Going on vacation for thanksgiving and was counting on my card for misc. charges...like the airlines who charges us per bag... Sooooo incredibly disappointed and disgusted that this is how a Platinum Signature member is treated who has never missed a payment. Thank you Wescom. Looking for another bank for the new year. Good luck getting the two asian ladies to crack a smile. One of them, the older one, is a supervisor or manager or something. And that's not saying anything about their attitude; it's just demeaning. Not to single out the two, I walked in this afternoon with a wad of cash to make a deposit - I earn gratuity and at times I would have a whole stack of dollar bills piled up. I could not believe my eyes when I caught the entire staff of about 5 cashiers, taking discrete glances at me and looking away to hide their giggles. It was very disrepectful! Having been with BofA and Wells Fargo before, Wescom came as a relief; a different kind of bank that's not as fee-hungry. Until I recently moved, I banked at their Costa Mesa branch. Such as friendly staff they have over there. But I'm really disappointed with the staff at the branch in Irvine. read more
