I had a leaking toilet emergency in Jersey City this morning and called Roto-Rooter because I was…read morecompletely out of my depth and needed professional help. I explained multiple times that I'm a renter, that I was panicking a bit, and that I genuinely did not know what to do. Instead of helping, the woman on the phone told me they wouldn't be able to assist because I'm a renter and because my building has maintenance/property management. She even incorrectly told me "that's what your lease says," which was not true. My property manager had already told me I could handle the repair and deduct the cost from rent. What frustrates me most is what happened next: I called Dr. Drip Plumbing & Heating, and the VERY FIRST thing they did was calmly explain how to shut off the water to stop the leak immediately. Roto-Rooter never once mentioned this -- despite knowing I had no idea what I was doing and that water was actively leaking. That basic advice could have saved me a lot of stress in the moment. It really felt like Roto-Rooter only cared whether they were getting paid, not whether a stressed customer actually needed help. Meanwhile, Dr. Drip Plumbing & Heating immediately treated me like a human being and helped me solve the immediate problem before anything else. If you're in Jersey City, I'd strongly recommend supporting a smaller local company that actually cares about people.

We had a flooding issue in our basement apartment that required the floor to be dug up and the pipe replaced. Tom and his team completed the work quickly and for a very fair price and we have not had any flooding issues since. We have also hired Tom to replace the sump pump in our basement and to fix our sink and were very pleased at the quality of their work. If you need a plumber, give Tom a call. You won't be disappointed!

He did some trouble shooting on the furnace, testing different potential causes, and keeping me well informed along the way. I asked to be walked through the troubleshooting first-hand, and I figured he would probably hate that - but actually Tom is a super friendly guy, and it was fun to learn about the furnace components and joke around with him. That was fixed pretty quickly. Then the tub took a bit more effort - The poor guy was trying to save me money by reusing components in the existing plumbing setup, but it just wasn't working. But since he was letting me be so nosy as he was troubleshooting, I learned a lot along the way! :-) Thanks for being so thoughtful with explanations and thorough with the work!

They asked me to send a video of my problem and they would waive any assessment fee. After they received my video they quickly returned with an estimate of $300 to $400. Considering they really couldn't fully evaluate the problem without seeing it up close I agreed. They gave me an appointment for early the next day with a one hour window. They called 20 minutes before they arrived Promptly within the planned time. They diagnosed a PVC pipe that came unsealed from the trash disposal, this loose connection was causing the leak. He repaired it and then called Sal to assess a revised fee. They charged me $225 which considering their professionalism was fair and reasonable. I would most definitely use them again and I would recommend their services to anyone in need of plumbing in this area. As someone who has used professional services in multiple states for construction I found this company to be a straight shooter. If you're looking for a bargain you're barking up the wrong tree here. Pay a fair fee for a fair service. Sal Trippi has earned my trust.

The issue: Water stops flowing from the kitchen sink, and dishwasher drainage backs up into the sink. It is a 15-year-old condo unit; this is the first time the waste pipe has been completely clogged. I tried baking soda and vinegar, but it didn't work. I also detached U-pipe and cleaned it but didn't work. So I needed professional service. How it worked: About 90 minutes after leaving the message, I received a phone call from Mario, the plumber. In another 45 minutes, he is at our doorstep with a drain snake. After the first cleaning, the situation remains. He explained that the issue might be happening too deep, in which case I needed to call a different service, but to make sure, he tried again. In the second attempt, it looked more difficult to send a snake head inside the pipe but I guess it is because the head is hitting the exact place the issue is happening. This time, it worked. After reconnecting the pipes carefully, he cleaned up professionally.
