Now, over the last few weeks I've had the opportunity to glance at a few interiors shops, and of those I've seen this one didn't seem to stand out as much. I guess these things are a little more aesthetic based than anything else, so saying this place was ok is really more reflective of my taste than their product I suppose. My taste said, "these guys are ok, not as exciting as some of the others, but not bad."
I'll explain. It's not as if, in this dream home of mine, that I've planned the kitchen or anything. The opposite in fact, to me it'd be the least exciting place to design. But there are kitchen styles that I would like. The ones on show here, at the time of my browsing, just didn't spark my imagination too much. They looked clean, tidy, perfunct but not exactly stylish to my standard.
They had one on show that was a bit of a bizarre one - a jade green work top on some black storage cupboards. Not my choice. There was also one with a white work top sink area, redefining 'white goods' no doubt, and then a sort of white/ivory storage area with oaky coloured units and handles. I guess it was all quite nicely arranged, with neat tiling and useful features, but to me it lacked the personality that I'd like in my kitchen.
Crikey. When did society get so demanding of a blooming kitchen? I feel awful for even having thought such choosy and decadent thoughts! Still, that's my judgement. And if we're honest, that's the way it works over here, right? read more
