I guess these things are a little more aesthetic based than anything else, so saying this place was ok is really more reflective of my taste than their product I suppose. My taste said, "these guys are ok, not as exciting as some of the others, but not bad." I'll explain. It's not as if, in this dream home of mine, that I've planned the kitchen or anything. The opposite in fact, to me it'd be the least exciting place to design. But there are kitchen styles that I would like. The ones on show here, at the time of my browsing, just didn't spark my imagination too much. They looked clean, tidy, perfunct but not exactly stylish to my standard. They had one on show that was a bit of a bizarre one - a jade green work top on some black storage cupboards. Not my choice. There was also one with a white work top sink area, redefining 'white goods' no doubt, and then a sort of white/ivory storage area with oaky coloured units and handles. I guess it was all quite nicely arranged, with neat tiling and useful features, but to me it lacked the personality that I'd like in my kitchen. Crikey. When did society get so demanding of a blooming kitchen? I feel awful for even having thought such choosy and decadent thoughts! Still, that's my judgement. And if we're honest, that's the way it works over here, right?

The style here is quite pretty and tasteful with vintage-inspired patterns given a modern twist, with many floral and leafy designs featuring cool and calm up to date colours. Blinds also have a modern feel with mainly neutral colours and simple design. Prices here are very reasonable, so for anyone looking to spruce up their home with some pretty curtains or upholstery, you could certainly do worse than a trip to E.G. Interior Fabrics. A huge bonus in my mind is that this shop also provides a sewing machine repair service with no call out charge...and with the repairer having had 25 years experience you know your sewing machine is in safe hands!

Having said that, in general terms in life you get what you pay for, and that's certainly true here: the proprietor is a fantastic bathroom/bedroom designer and we are delighted with the quality of the bathroom we now have. Langleys don't do tiles: they have their own special equivalent called Versatil which comes in a single bespoke pieces -- you can get an idea of what this looks like from their website. It costs more, but it's so much better than a tiled finish -- (a) it looks better, and (b) there's no grouting so the cleaning's better too. This is typical of their approach: they compete on quality, not price. The shop is worth a visit as the showrooms they have there give a good reflection of what you're likely to get. The customer service is good too: once you go with them they'll sort out everything for you and make sure you're reasonably well looked after all the way. The workmen they employed to do our bathroom were excellent and left the place clean, tidy and safe each night. In short, if you've got the money, investigate Langleys: they're very good.

A sleek, chic, show house type furniture store on Whitworth Street West, with nothing but estate agents around. Located under the arches, it's location is pretty different and a great place to wander on in. Established in 1996, Ferrious has a great portfolio of fans including the Home Office and Chelsea Football Club. Ferrious prides itself on showcasing works from quality, innovative companies. I don't know a lot about domestic interiors but it sure looks and feels very exquisite in taste.

They have some incredible pieces here, large, marsh-mallow sofas, oversized doughnut chairs, clean kitchens and sleek, modern lighting. They stock some of the most innovative brands in home design: Paula Lenti, Moroso and Marset. If you have a down town warehouse apartment, practically anything you purchase in here will look incredible in it. Of course, nothing comes cheap in here but if being individual means a lot to you then there's nothing for it: get out your credit card.

They design and make their own kitchens, bedroom furniture and other stuff. Every piece of furniture is perfectly hand crafted. They are a family business and work with every customer in interior design to make them get what they want. They have some fabulous pieces of furniture and I think this place is amazing.
