The disturbing concrete fry in with my cold fries
    Alison K.

I'm ever the optimist and always give places 2 or 3 chances, thinking maybe they were just having an "off" day, but tonight was the last straw. I had gone to the Waldo location simply because it was a straight shot up 301 from my work and a nice divided 4 lane; hence, easier with traffic to get to. No more. From now on, I'll make the more traffic-clogged drive to Keystone. Why, you ask? Well here's one example of the dinner I ordered, but the dinner I got. (I always order one extra sandwich to have as my lunch the next day) I ordered a #10, which is an Asiago Chicken Bacon ranch sandwich. Same as my last visit, I got a sloppy ranch burnt to a crisp piece of bacon, chewy old piece of chicken sandwich. And the fries that are supposed to be crispy? Kind of hard to achieve that when they're cold and a free dark brown, fried to a state near concrete, what maybe USED to be a french fry thrown in for good measure. Oh wait! That's not all!! Nobody asked me what size I wanted so I ended up with a small of everything...ordered a Sprite Zero and obviously got a regular Sprite. How can I tell? The sugar syrup immediately tasted wrong and BAM! Instant migraine. That's why I don't drink sugar sodas. Next came the sandwich I ordered but never got. I ordered the #11, just the sandwich -- it was supposed to be a big bacon cheddar -- another chicken sandwich. What did I get? A single patty burger with cheese and bacon on it. The patty looks like yesterday's sausage sandwich. Ugh. I hate their burgers, that's why I always order the chicken sandwich! Extremely upset and frazzled from a very cold day out working in the rain and sloppy roads, I drove to Keystone Heights just to prove a point to myself. I ordered the exact same sandwiches and received them hot, fresh and EXACTLY what I ordered. Imagine that. And much to my surprise, not only were their sandwiches perfectly wrapped and carefully put together, but that Asiago Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich was supposed to have lettuce and tomato on it! Mine in Waldo did NOT. Goodbye, Waldo. I'll not be coming back for sub-par food ever again! Definitely NOT worth even close to the $16 price tag. Great way to spend my birthday. YUCK.

This was the lettuce they gave me on my salad. Also the ranch packet looked like it had mold on it.

I am very disappointed in my family's meal. We're on a 13 hour trip and we wanted an easy stop for lunch and we where there for over an hour because they couldn't get our order right. When we tried to ask them to re make our sandwiches the workers snapped back and started raising their voices. Over all we will not be going there again.

    Nobody at the register

Horrible customer service. I spent 10 minutes at the empty drive trough and nobody took my order after that I got out to order inside and the employees were extremely rude and dismissive. The location was empty and they were singing in the back. Please get better employees

Terrible service I ordered my food and it took 3 corrections and 20 minutes to get my food. The lady getting my order was very sad and dull.

Stopped here around 10:50pm at night and I've just gotta say, whoever is cooking back there needs a hefty raise.

It's the only burger place around here! Years have passed, and competition has moved into town... and yet? I'd rather go here for my hamburger crave than anywhere else around. Why? They've never compromised on how they make, wrap or deliver their delicious burgers to you out the window. They are just as delicious today as they were 20-odd years ago when I first tried them and got hooked! How does someplace maintain this? Good management and ownership. Not compromising on quality, ingredients or changing how it has always been done and done right. The same burger I bought from there over 20 years ago is the same delicious burger I buy today. Sure, the prices have gone up, but they have to in order to pay upkeep of your premises, taxes, your staff and the suppliers of everything you have to have in order to run your business. I still remember someone complaining about how much it was for a burger there when they first raised their prices to at least be somewhat competitive with the "Arches" down the street. Look. You can go down there and buy something that someone flipped around, pre-processed somewhat filled with questionable meat or soy protein, loaded with msg and salt, who knows where it all was already made and pre-cooked before it even got there... I've seen the process from start to finish at our Burger Barn. They cook your burger fresh once you order it. If it were made already, it'd be ready for pickup at the window when you pull up to order... sounds like someplace you know? I've got the patience for something fresh, something consistently good and priced a lot cheaper than down the street, considering you're getting so much better quality! So you do you and go wherever you like... me? I'll stick with the best burger in town that's oh so good from the first bite to the very last bit. I thought about that, looking at the bite I had at the end with still plenty of creamy cheese, tons of meat and a few delicious pieces of pickles, onions, lettuce and even a sliver of tomato worked into it! Good to the absolute last bite. It's amazing to me that no one realizes how lucky we are that we have a family owned and mostly run business right here serving quality to our community for how many years now? Anyone know? I'll have to ask them. The window servers may change but the food is always the same goodness it always is. Thank you guys for maintaining your place in our town!!

But, beyond the expected hamburgers and a great selection of shakes, they have chicken 'n' waffles, fried shrimp, and other dishes. Everything is indeed fast food yet at the same time tastes homemade. My shrimp were good though a bit too salty for my liking, the waffle fries fine, the bread roll (really? not hushpuppies?) ok if weird to me to include in a seafood basket. Their house MotLee's Sauce is certainly the sauce to ask for, by the way. All in all, a good, economical choice for fast food plus to support something local and unique.

Husband got a smash burger with sweet potato fries and a Heath bar shake. Everything was served quickly by the nice young man behind the counter, all was hot and looked great. Everything was delicious, with the highpoints being the sweet potato waffle fries, the biscuit, and the milkshakes. I got ranch and the Motlee sauce for my chicken and both were excellent, the ranch is def homemade. We'll be back around the next time we head in or out on I-10, although it's only 30 minutes from where I live in Jax, so we might make the drive just for dinner one night.

As a high-performing young person in the food industry and retail industry in the past, I usually give young people the benefit of the doubt working in a setting like this one. However, this most recent experience was an absolute sh*tshow from beginning to end. It cannot possibly be that difficult to take an order from the counter or the calculate the price of 3 items. Somehow these team members made it look like it was more difficult than rocket science, and did so at the slowest rate of any burger joint I've ever seen in my entire life. From not being greeted once, to taking 10 minutes to even get to pay, to absolutely no apology for how long it took or even a "thank you" or "have a nice night." I can count on one hand the times I've ever left an establishment without leaving a 20% tip but I've never seen a more deserving group of people to do it to. As for the food - who would've guessed that bagging corn nuggets before getting the burger it took 10 minutes to make would result in a barely warm bag of corn nuggets? More mysterious, however, was how in the world the burger wasn't hot after all that time cooking. Do yourself a favor and walk away if it takes you 3 minutes of standing directly in front of the team members who are at the counter with no greeting. Don't give them the benefit of the doubt, no matter how much you once loved it. I'm grateful for the experience to teach me to stop vouching for small town stops if I haven't been there myself recently. Here's to hoping no one I recommended this place to recently has gone, or that they had a better experience than I did!
