Since the pandemic started, I have been visiting Whitchurch-Stouffville practically every week. I drop by Giant Tiger on Wednesdays to get groceries, because both the prices and quality are decent. Across from Giant Tiger is this Wendy's.
I have analyzed business at this Wendy's for a while. Not in full stalker mode, but enough to figure out that going through the drive-thru at 6 pm is a crazy time and should be avoided unless you enjoy lining up with your car practically in front of Giant Tiger.
For the past 1.5 weeks, I have started my workday at 7:30 am to train a new colleague joining our team in India. We have a 9.5-hour time difference. What's cool about starting my day early is ending my workday to start running errands early.
I ended up at Wendy's just past 5 pm. I hit the drive-thru. I have not seen the lineup so short here. Ever! A single car was ahead of me.
I ordered a small strawberry frosty. It's new and here for a limited time. I had a friendly guy take my order.
I paid at the window with a debit card. The transaction was seamless. I got my frosty, with a straw, spoon, and napkin. I thanked him. He wasn't talkative at all. Weird.
Maybe I'm used to the Wendy's at Steeles, several blocks west of Weston Road, and how cold the frostys (frosties?) are. It was my usual place to drop by on my commute home after work to get my dinner fix with a frosty for dessert. I had to eat my frosty with a spoon. It was so cold that you could never use a straw.
Well, this location is different. My frosty tasted great. I absolutely love the strawberry flavour. I wish it were permanently on the menu. I like it better than the vanilla.
It was more on the soupy side, though. I actually took the lid off and chugged it as if it were a cold beer, but I was driving and would never do that with a spirited beverage. It was my first time chugging a frosty. I enjoyed the experience. It was different. It was kind of like a milkshake with extra soft serve to make things special.
I have yet to order a meal here. I should. I'm craving the baconator these days.
Other than the lack of warmth from one staff member and the soupy frosty, I'd come back and try other menu items.
