I used to love the Wendy's here in Corning. It was a reliable option for fast food, but my recent experiences have left me frustrated and unimpressed. From the declining food quality to the consistently poor service, it's clear that this location has lost its edge. Today, I was "helped" (if you can call it that) by Ryan and Mikaela. Ryan walked away twice mid order. Mikaela then helped us at both windows and seemed extremely aggrivated for some reason throughout the entire transaction. I ordered a Ghost Pepper Ranch Chicken sandwich. It looks as if the cheese has a bite gone out of it, and it tasted like fish. I don't know why, I dont know how and frankly at this point I do not care! I'm allergic to fish and had to take benadryl just on the incase. The food has consistently been either wrong, cold, or looks like it was thrown together by someone who stopped caring halfway through their shift. There's a lack of training, coaching and customer service in general. I'm hoping to hear back from corporate and would love to talk to an Area Coach about the lack of professionalism dispalyed at this location.

June 11, 2016 Saturday - 12:15 PM for lunch 4 Adults and 3 kids Atmosphere - 3 stars Food - 2 stars Service - 3 stars Background - We are visiting my parents on our vacation and on Saturday's they watch my nephews. Part of the routine is that my nephews get to pick a restaurant for lunch. Atmosphere - A Wendy's that has not been upgraded to the new black and red exterior theme. The place was actually in good shape and large. They place was busy and getting dirty but they had a lady out cleaning tables when we were finishing up our meals. Food Drink - A Coke as part of my combo meal. Lunch - My wife and I both picked combo meals but split them between us. I got my standard Spicy Chicken sandwich. The bun was smooshed in typical fast food fashion. I also upgrade my combo to baconator fries. The bacon was a salt stick, otherwise the cheesy gooeyness was good and what you expect from the cheap cheese sauce. My half of my wife's bacon mozzarella burger was surprisingly good, again though the bacon was way too salty and dropped the experience down a bit. Service - I think our cashier was a rookie as he needed help several times. Somehow he even locked up the POS device while my parents were done ordering and had to key it all back in. The kitchen is always a bottleneck at a fast food place. But today it was the Coke machine and all the rug rats. The coke machine is one of those new ones with five billion choices. With the buttons on the machine being too high for some and others machining their perfect suicide drink mix just made the like too long. Future - Probably, when we visit the area again.

Needed a break on a trip. We stopped for some fast food and waited for a long time (20+minutes?) before it came out.

Definitely a spot where you could linger for a while. Food-wise, we ordered the fried rice with crispy chicken (breaded in crushed Cheerios--yes, Cheerios, and yes, surprisingly delicious!), the bánh mì, and the crispy chicken sandwich, which ended up being the star of the show. Every bite of that sandwich was perfectly seasoned, crunchy, and satisfying. We upgraded our side to the greens, which came topped with some mysterious orange ingredient--maybe a grated carrot dressing? Whatever it was, it was scrumptious. We also ordered a side of pickles, which were surprisingly affordable and so flavorful that they disappeared fast. We didn't try any drinks, but the menu had plenty of interesting options to choose from. One of my favorite parts of the experience was how family-friendly the place felt: while we waited, the kids grabbed a new-to-us game (The Enchanted Forest) from the board game shelves, which made the time fly by. Service was attentive and friendly without hovering, and overall we had a fantastic experience. If we lived closer, this would be a regular lunch spot for sure!

The ambiance is dim and quiet, but they were happy to have us. My 4 year old used colored pencils on coloring sheets we brought with us. For babies and small kids, they have ingelisa chairs that clip on the high tables and I was concerned about the high chairs for our 4 year old but it was fine. She devoured her entire meal(chicken tenders) and a half of our 1 year olds' (they have a kids menu with chicken tenders, grilled peanut butter and fluff, noodles with butter, hot dog..). The service was fast and great. While I am vegetarian and my spouse is gluten free, we are always pleasantly surprised when we both find delicious food. I loved the general tso's poboy with cauliflower and tofu. I wish there was more cauliflower since my 1 year old took many of those pieces. My spouse got something with "pulled pork and quinoa" and he said it was very good too.

The tables looked like the lunch rush had just came through and were not wiped all the way clean. Now one thing I never seen anywhere else was they had cleaner/sterilizer at every table with a roll of paper towels. Maybe they assumed each customer would clean the tables themselves or it was to make it easy for whoever was cleaning the tables. They have a normal amount of options for a burrito shop. What they don't have is salsa with the chips. I know places like Chipotle and Moes (Chain places) have the salsa bar. Most other burrito places I have been that are not chains will give you a small container of salsa or queso being an additional charge. We both got steak burrito's and I should have tried something else so we could review two options. The burritos are bigger than what the chain places offer. Flavor a little different. My wife said something was off with the steak I just thought it was over salted. It was very soft and was in an almost gravy looking juice. I have been to some places that ask every option and places that stand there and wait for you to tell them. This was a little of both. Not as many options as a chain restaurant. The staff seemed pretty friendly and we didn't have any issues with anyone. The food was at best ok. Great for the area it is in. All in all an ok experience. I will probably try them again with a different selection.

We tried the 1/4 lb platter. With fries and potato salad. The pulled pork was amazing. Great flavor and very tender. The smoked sausage was as good as any smoked sausage I have had in upstate NY. The chicken was also very tender and had a good smoked flavor. The ribs had a lot of flavor and were not over cooked like some places do. The brisket.... Was brisket.... Maybe it wasn't made today which is fine. It tasted more like a roast than a brisket. My wife and I differ on our opinions of BBQ houses. I like to try the meats before I put any sauce on. My wife like it covered beforehand. This place doesn't smother it but does put it on before I got a chance to try the meats. The potato salad was ok but not bursting in flavor. The pieces in it are cut fairly large. It was ok. Fries are fries. A little over salted. But they did have malt vinegar. We might try this place again.

The ice cream counter also has novelty candy and ice cream for sale, but if you go in back to the cafe counter, they have higher quality locally produced and imported candies along with other pantry stuff like jam and tea. I've stopped here a few times. The sandwiches have been fantastic (globe sandwich and Moroccan wrap). The carrot cake was just okay, a little dry if I remember correctly, but the coconut custard pie I tried this time was perfect and not too sweet or heavy. They also do a good (and pretty big) malt milkshake. Service is fast enough and generally friendly.
