She not only welcomed us in with open arms, but she made sure that we and my dog, Mojo, were comfortable before she began. She was calm, caring, and genuine throughout the entire appointment and really explained all our options and what she was doing thoroughly. She started with gently feeling his body and assessing it, quickly noticing that his spine was probably causing him some pain. We moved onto acupuncture, where she explained all the points that she was doing and how it would benefit him. She also had some treats readily available to distract him as the needles were going in! After about 7-9 minutes, you can visibly see Mojo just... relax. Completely calm. Not squirming or fidgeting. It was honestly like magic. She was able to do cold laser therapy while the needles were in and then she whipped out KT tape.. Which I didn't even know you could do on animals! As she taped his spine, she gave us instructions on how to help him up the stairs and to lower his pain in his hind legs. She also suggested that we start cooking his meals as well with turkey and some sweet potato. After she taped him up, we carried him out to the car where he immediately took a little nap. While we were in the car, she came out with a lot of medicine for him to take for his nausea, alongside some inflammatory medicine and Chinese herbs. Within a few hours of taking the Cerenia that she gave us, he was able to keep food down (which hadn't happened for about 4 days before this, he was throwing up everything he ate). Not only that, he was able to sleep without any disturbance and seemed incredibly relaxed. Dr. Bertolone treated us with kindness and genuinely cared for him. We will always be indebted and appreciative to her and cannot express the amount of gratitude we have for her. She is undoubtedly one of the best veterinarians that we've ever encountered.

I really appreciated how thoughtful and patient they were throughout the process, and how they took the time to explain things clearly. He received necessary procedures including blood transfusion to stabilize his condition. I did not want to leave him at ER for more tests and observations because I have never had any pets survived ER stays alive. We did receive medications from ER which seemed to be working and were told that he needed medical attention in order to survive. Since his regular vet was helpless, I decided to look into alternatives. I found this place on Yelp with raving reviews, and like most pet owners in desperate situations, I decided to give it a try. I first spoke with I believe her name was Lyric. She was very charming and well spoken, and made an appointment immediately. I also recieved a call from Yael after I emailed over my cat's medical records and was told that she thinks my cat simply had urinary track infection and she can help. During our visit, Yael and Lyric worked together and performed a basic exam, then I was told that we need a biofeedback scan which will tell us exactly what's going on. This " procedure " consist of sticking two wet pads somewhere on the underside of my cat, and the wires connected the wet pads to a laptop which supposedly would feed all the information to a program. I thought that seemed overly simple, but I was in a state of panic, I chose to believe it's some advanced science that I didn't understand. I was told that they will rush the result but it will be later that evening or next day. Then Yael proceeded to prescribe a list of remedies which is mostly supplements including a gar of homemade yogurt. The visit, including all the remedies I was told were necessary, came to just under $700. They also only accept cash or Zelle payments, no credit cards. The instruction I was given was to stop the medicationd from ER immediately and only take what was prescribed by Yael, and I did. At home, shortly after I gave my cat what Yael prescribed, he started vomiting violently and was visibly weaker. I call and told Yael what was happening and was met with loud, non-stop yelling, telling me that her remedies were right and I must follow her instructions. The biofeedback report showed pages of colorful breakdown and included readings of "pepsine secretion coefficient" and "small intestine peristalsis function" values, plus "protien metabolism value", "liver fat content value", plus kidney, lung function analysis, even blood circulation system analysis, etc. This program of theirs can read all these from two wet pad sticked to the skin of my cat? I ultimately decided to consult with a licensed vet, and luckily I found Dr. Sharp from a referral, and my cat's conditions improved without complications within days at a quarter of the cost. He is healthy and happy today. As pet parents, we are vulnerable to be taken advantage of when our pets become critically ill. I hope my experience is helpful to anyone in similar situation and can make proper decisions for both your pets and you.

At first I thought it might be a strain, but the episodes became more frequent, sometimes waking me up in the middle of the night. I was extremely worried and just wanted to help her. A friend recommended Dr. Pasternak because he really has been incredible with her dog who was suffering from similar symptoms. she also said he takes a more holistic approach and avoids unnecessary pharmaceuticals. When I called the office first thing in the morning, the front desk staff were incredibly kind and told me to come in right away without an appointment. When we arrived, the front desk was just as compassionate and they were able to get us seen quickly, which I appreciated. A vet tech came in first to take Piper's vitals. At the time, I thought he might have been the veterinarian. When Dr. Pasternak came in, however, the interaction quickly became uncomfortable. It was primarily the demeanor of Dr. Pasternak that made the experience so upsetting. He was dismissive and abrupt from the start, which my neighbor--who had accompanied me--also noticed. He immediately asked why I hadn't brought my dog's previous medical records. I explained that in the urgency of the situation that was the last thing on my mind, but that the VCA emergency hospital across the street had them and could easily email them over. He appeared irritated by this. I also explained the medications Piper was currently on and that I had given her a full dose of trazodone before the visit to help calm her anxiety. Piper is blind and has high anxiety, but she is generally very gentle with people. Dr. Pasternak then stated that he would not treat her because the stress of the visit could potentially cause her to have a heart attack. The vet tech, seeing how distressed I was, tried to comfort both me and Piper and gently held her to help keep her calm. The only thing Dr. Pasternak offered was an injection, which he administered. Feeling shaken and still desperate for help, we immediately went to the VCA hospital across the street. The staff there treated Piper and were surprised by how the situation had been handled. Piper ended up needing about three weeks of recovery. Those weeks involved many sleepless nights, often sleeping on the floor beside her to keep her from jumping while she healed. I'm sharing this experience simply to encourage other pet owners to thoroughly research veterinary providers and consider multiple opinions, even when a recommendation comes from a trusted source. I didn't bother to read the reviews before our visit with later regret. Giving 1 star vs none as the office staff and vet technician were very kind during this extremely stressful and worrisome situation.

Anyone familiar with the unique nature of Xolos knows how special and sensitive they are, and Dr. Tran understood that immediately. She handled them with patience, gentleness, and a deep attentiveness that made us feel completely at ease. Dr. Tran possesses that extraordinary combination of clinical mastery and genuine warmth. She listens carefully, explains thoughtfully, and approaches every patient with patience and respect. We took her to a conventional vet to rule out UTI/kidney issues and had X rays done to ensure there was nothing grossly abnormal structurally with her bones. Everything checked out and I knew I didn't want to start her on a medication with significant side effects or have her on pain meds indefinitely, so I searched for holistic vets who did acupuncture and was so happy to see Dr. Rose was local to us! . On our first visit, Dr. Rose did a thorough exam of Nikka and informed us that Nikka had an unusual heart murmur. A different vet at a conventional clinic that had seen Nikka just a few weeks earlier also mentioned the heart murmur but said it was very mild/quiet and didn't seem concerned about it all and didn't give us any indication that it needed to be investigated. I thought that the murmur must be no big deal based on how the first vet handled the finding. Dr. Rose immediately told us that Nikka's heart murmur was quite pronounced and unusual sounding and she gave us a lot of info and recommendations on next steps. . Well, today we took Nikka to a cardiologist where she had an ECHO and it turns out she has dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), which, thankfully, has been caught early and might be able to be improved with medication and dietary changes. . Dr. Rose literally saved Nikka's life with her attention to detail, her excellent clinical skills, and her prompt and informative follow up and recommendations. I will be eternally and forever grateful to her competence and expertise. . Nikka has also had 2 sessions of acupuncture and cold laser/photobiomodulation and she definitely has more pep in her step. Nikka also loves coming to Serenity Holistic Vet, she isn't anxious or nervous and just settles right down and relaxes when the acupuncture needles are in. Not only did Lindy find a loving placement for our friend's pup who lets our friend visit him when she wants, she also offered free training to the new dog parent and took on additional responsibilities that are practically unheard of these days, especially from businesses focused almost solely on the bottom line.
