This version is a bistro so one can expect lighter fare and lighter prices. The airy sky-lit main dining room is as charming and attractive as ever and a reservation is necessary to snag a table here. A great deal here is the Chef's menu. This is five courses where the chef will serve up dishes not on the regular menu. As with all chef's tables, you don't choose. You eat what is served. Each of the five courses was very delicately prepared and tasty and I could have eaten more of each one. Thank goodness for the generous bread basket. The meal began with a totally delicious erdäpfelsalat (potato salad) followed by a vanilla and green spargel (asparagus) salad. The next course contained wild broccoli with sweet potato chips and grapes. The main course was a fantastic concoction of karfiol (cauliflower) cooked in an olive crumb marinade with a parsley sous-dressing. A pomegranate sorbet with apple slices ended the feast. Service was friendly and impeccable and I can safely say Tian Bistro lives up to its hype and is one of the best vegetarian restaurants I've ever eaten in!

I made a reservation for 1 before coming here and when I arrived there were two empty tables outside. I asked if I could sit at one and they declined saying it was reserved. Okay, got it, so I took a seat inside. No problem. As time went by and I waited on my food, a couple walked up and asked if they could take one of the tables and sure enough, they were accommodated. I believe, because I was solo, they wanted to reserve the outdoor tables for couples. It was a lovely evening to sit outside. I ordered a traditional Austrian dish and I simply did not enjoy the combinations of flavors and textures. I would try something else to see if it was just that dish I did not enjoy. The time came to pay when I was informed that they were cash only. There should be better signage outside and possibly inside stating that it's cash only. I had to go to an atm to get cash out as this was my last evening in town and I didn't have any more cash on me. The meal price went up due to me incurring atm fees. I posted a picture of the "cash" sign they have outside; can be easily missed if you're not looking up. Sure enough when I left, there was still a table available outside. (-_-)

The restaurant is casual and hip hop music played over the speakers during our visit. I ordered the setian steak, and it was fantastic. However, when we got there they said their kitchen was backed up and that we'd have to wait at least 30 minutes. Instead, we looked online, crossed the road, and found this place within a block. This is a no-frills Chinese eatery. They have 3 - 4 tables along each wall as you enter. There is a central aisle that takes you up to the counter for to-go orders. The staff is all Chinese. They provided a menu that had a mix of Chinese, German, and English. We were thus able to find a few dishes to share. Three of us split some noodles, fried dumplings, and one or 2 other dishes. We were hungry enough to finish everything. It was quality food. Prices seemed fair. They seemed to do a steady stream of take out as well as what appeared to be locals just stopping in briefly for a bowl of noodles or the like. If you like Chinese food and are just looking for something simple and quick, this is a good choice.
