This Wells Fargo location was remodel and updated their ATM machine that withdraws $1s, $5s, and $20s. They also relocated the ATM Machine away from the door. I had a teller ask me about my opinion on the ATM machine being aware from the door and I thought it was a good idea that they moved it. The line to see a teller can be long but thankfully I do not have any questions to ask the teller and I just go straight to the ATM Machine to withdraw money. I am inside and out right away. I like going to this Wells Fargo location. It is a busy bank with parking easy to find here. Here is what I like about this location...I can walk from Lucky or Traders Joe to go here. I do get a good exercise if I park where Barnes & Noble, Traders Joe, or Lucky to go to Wells Fargo. I have to say that it is a curse that Starbucks and Peet's are not far from Wells Fargo Bank...it is a good excuse to withdraw cash here. read more

Granted, many of the customers have little idea how to take care of their business, (The guy in font of me wants to know if his checking account is balanced.) but management should be able (and willing) to step in when a surge in customers occurs. Drive thru ATM is ok but don't come here at 11am in a weekday. Obviously everyone is coming during lunch but wouldn't you staff accordingly? I have never felt more insulted, discriminated and disgusted. This manager needs to be re-evaluated and demoted to a position she can comprehend. I requested management because the teller was unable to perform the task I requested( first sign of poor leadership) the manager comes over after being briefed about the situation and returns to regurgitate the exact false information the teller told me. When I asked why she wouldn't perform the task she has the ability to overwrite, she reverted to stating she could but wouldn't. I asked for an explanation and she couldn't come up with a valid reason other than she didn't feel she wanted to. As a long time, good standing customer of the bank , with funds and facts to prove she had enough information to make a decision i immediately felt the discrimination. She was basing her decision off of my age, attire, gender and ethnicity. Had I been someone who looked " the part " she would have had no issue clearing the issue. Been a WF customer for at least 20 years now and never really had an problems. I went into make a cash deposit and it felt like I was bothering the teller. At the end of the transaction Isabel, the teller tells me to use the atm next time. I tell her I don't want to wait to put in multiple items in the atm and then she proceeds to tell me the atm can take up to 30 cash/checks at a time and I only had 45 so it wouldn't take me that long. This review is for the drive up ATM. (I had my blind dog, Iggy, with me and he gets really anxious when I leave him in the car even for a couple of minutes so I always have to do drive-through). I don't bank at Wells Fargo. I did for 20 years but stopped when they started bilking their customers. But I do use this ATM as I now bank with a credit union that reimburses me the service fee. This ATM is always clean and stocked. The location is easy-in an easy-out. The only problem with this particular visit was the idiot walk-up guy that was too lazy to go 20 feet around the corner to the four unoccupied ATMs. read more

I've been a customer for 12 years... 12 YEARS. This is honestly the worst branch I've been to. There is always a line the corner and only one person at the counters. Anytime I with an associate they are unhappy and short tempered by simple questions like, "may I make change." They all follow different policies and rules and can never give a straight answer. I try to avoid this particular Wells Fargo bank in the El Cerrito Plaza as much as possible because of the very slow service and constant long lines. This recent trip saw a line of half a dozen customers in line to the entry, and only two windows open. There was a white hair Boomer on one window telling the teller her whole life story for half an hour. Totally oblivious she was holding everybody up in line. They should have a special hour at the bank just for senile old people so they don't waste other people's time! This one teller served just one customer and the other teller worked the whole line, where was the branch manager on duty? This is unacceptable for a bank to have long lines because they don't have a special hour or window just for geriatrics which there's a lot of here. I have come here to make a deposit once a month for several months and consistently have to wait 30+ minutes in line because they are NEVER adequately staffed with several staff members (presumably managers) just standing around in the back. Have been a member of Wells Fargo in El Cerrito for decades. To evaluate it as NO GOOD would a an understatement. Went to the bank to see an officer for a brief question. Did not have an appointment but there were just a few people waiting for officers. Waited well over 2 hours Wanted conformation that I had paid IRS for my last tax return. At a WF employee told me that they were busy snd I possibly could POSSIBLY come back ONE and ONE-HALFF or TWO WEEKS weeks later. When I protested saiid that I wanted to withdraw all of my nomey from the bank (is close to 100k)m an employee immediately said she would give me paperwork but DIS NOT! A male employe about 5"05, saw me, looked up my needed paperwork and provided me with the needed paperwork in JUST A FEW MINUTES. Will still withdraw each an every of my my money from Wells Fargo. If note, the manager was out of the bank and perhaps was gone the entire day. A quick and simple request for paperwork that only took 1 minute was totally ignored.When I asked to withdraw all of my money from the bank, the employees seemed very casually ready to give me a withdrawal paperwork but also DID NOT give me the documents. The WF employee who resolved my problem after just ONE MINUTE is awesome but the rest of the employees and the bank are unacceptable, Could also have accepted making an ointment for a future date but hey never offered that option. Wells Fargo is totally unacceptable!WAs pretty vocal while I was walking out of the bank and verbally said I am taking ALLl of my money out of this bank!. If it was possible to rate negative stars I would do so for this Wells Fargo branch. Below is an email I sent to the District Manager explaining my horrible experience at this branch. Hi I am writing you this message in hopes that you are aware of how your employees are threating valuable customers and correct this ASAP. I am a loyal successful business woman. I have been a loyal customer for years and never expected to be treated like I was on 09/04/18. On 09/04/18 someone broke into my car and stole my computer, purse, wallet and keys. I have banked at the Wells Fargo El Cerrito branch for several years. I went there to freeze my accounts and get all this sorted out to avoid any fraudulent transactions. They all know me. Sadly I was failed miserably in my time of need. Hassan Ali your Senior Branch Manager did the opposite to help me. When I ask Mr. Ali to block my accounts, he said I need ID to block the accounts. My ID was stolen and they know me. I understand I need an ID but I only asked for him to freeze my accounts. He said not to worry, that Wells Fargo will cover any fraudulent transactions. He suggested I call the 800 number to get further assistance. When I asked him if he can help me call them he very rudely threw the phone at me and told me to do it myself. The time I spent being treated in a rudely manner, 5 fraudulent transactions went through. I still have not received this money back. Your branch manager was rude, inconsiderate and demeaning. When I asked Mr. Ali for his business card he threw it at me. I had to go to a second Wells Fargo branch to get any type of help. I will be canceling all my accounts with Wells Fargo and move to another bank. My entire ordeal at Wells Fargo made everything an already miserable situation even worse. read more

I dislike large banks. I have a long history of changing banks when mine has been taken over by a larger one. I've been happily settled at Mechanics Bank for several years now. My mother banked at World Savings, which was bought by Wachovia which was later absorbed by Wells Fargo. I was on my mom's account because she was unable to manage her own affairs. After she died in May we opened an account at Mechanics Bank while we settled her estate. I went to this branch of Wells Fargo and thought I had w/drawn all the money in the account. It was an easy enough transaction, although I found the young woman banker who flirtatiously tried to entice me to stay w/ Wells Fargo more than a little irritating. I thought I was done, but kept getting statements showing a balance of 3¢. Today I stopped by the bank to close the account. I walked in and was greeted warmly by a young man who turned me over to another banker. I explained what I wanted to do. Mr. Freeman understood and took care of it, giving me 3 pennies and joking that I shouldn't spend it all in one place. He was friendly yet professional and I expect I won't be receiving any more statements. read more

Been banking with these dickheads for years. I don't know why, I guess it's just too much hassle to switch to some other bank which probably would be just as annoying as Wells. Deposit money in ATM. 24 hours later get told that because it's over a certain amount, they're going to hold my money for 14 days and it wont be available. The money (checks) have been taken OUT of another bank's account and cleared, so where's my money guys? It's utter BS. I've also been over-charged with fees that were invalid and after spending 45 minutes on the phone with 3 different people, had to drive to the local branch and act like a crazy lady until a manager came and reversed the charges within seconds (I assume to shut me up and keep the peace and quiet in the branch). I went in to get a cash advance on my Visa debit card because my online bank doesn't have physical branches. Apparently the teller couldn't process it because of "insert whatever whatever here", and sent me to a banker to see if there's any way they could help me. Okay, that's nice. My bank said Wells Fargo could do it easily, but whatever, I'm no expert. I talk to the banker, she looks at my card, sees that I'm not a WF customer, and immediately tries to sell me their bank. Great, like I came in today for that. I need cash, not a sales pitch. After I rejected her offer and told her my reasoning, she had no reason to give me the time of day anymore. I felt rushed out, with no access to managers or supervisors. Awesome, I thought this was a serious financial institution, not a Best Buy. After five phone calls between myself, two telephone-order companies, and Wells El Cerrito, I have finally achieved the correct address documentation which should have been registered at the end of my one hour visit to this branch three months ago. Wells has really taken a dive over the past few years; not just the El Cerrito branch, but every branch I've dealt with in four different states. From the annoying voice of the twelve-year-old on the phone menu to the slow-as-continental-drift web page loading, the quality of service has plummeted. It would be a bit more confidence-inspiring if the main office would adopt a policy to hire adults. Alex made it a quick and easy process and was very informative about what I can do to help build my credit and now to keep myself from going crazy with it. A few days ago, I brought my boyfriend in to open his first credit card and requested for Alex again since he was so helpful with mine! The bank itself is great. Worst bank branch ever! I've never been more serious about how much I hate this branch. The manager is very condescending and the least helpful person in the entire Wells intuition. I've had problems with the branch since the day I started coming here. The last time I came before my recent Wells debacle, was to deposit a check. It took 25 minutes. 25 minutes to deposit a check, I kid you not. My last experience when I tried to close the account was the worst. This branch told me that their branch has different policies than central Wells Fargo and that was why they unable to help me. They also told me I couldn't close my account with a zero balance. Lastly, they told me that I couldn't close my account with them but that I could do it by calling customer service. When I called customer service, the one human that I've actually talked to said that what the branch told me was preposterous. That indeed you have to have a zero balance to close the account and that they shouldn't have different policies. In the end, worst bank branch ever. read more

My sister was in line at this bank since 11:30 am today and she was at the door few minutes before 12 but the security guard didn't let her in. The bank needs to inform the customers standing in line outside if they can't serve them. The manager should take the responsibility to step outside 30 mins before the bank closes and tell the customers if they can serve them or not so they don't stand there in line and waste their time. The service at this branch is abysmal. I went there on 6/30 because I received an email that my plan was going to change. I had not requested, approved or authorized any changes. The new plan requires $250,000 minimum or a $35 monthly fee and right now I pay no fees with a $50,000 minimum. When I got there I stood by the front door for 4 minutes before I was acknowledged. A few employees walked by with their heads down and didn't attempt to make eye contact I explained the issue and the lady said stand in line 4 and she will help you. I waited for 22 more minutes and then when I explained issue again she has a manager come over and he pulled up my account and tried to tell me it might be a better plan. He didn't do anything to resolve the unapproved plan change. He said I would have to make an appointment and come back. I saw that they had 2 windows open with at least 5 employees back there. There were 3 people just talking. There were also 2 men near the side entrance just talking to eachother and not helping anyone. One of those men had time to walk over and pet a dog. I expressed my wanting to correct the banks fraudulent unapproved mistake. He said he would have someone call be that day by close of business to fix. He confirmed my can be reached number and I left. I still haven't received a call 2 days later. I have returned there both 7/1 & 7/2 and the lines were out the door so I didn't even try to wait in line all over again. I have been a customer for 37 years and can't believe I can't get their unauthorized plan change fixed. I will make another attempt to actually get helped there on 7/5 and may just need to speak to their district manager or transfer all of my accounts to one of my other banks. This is the same branch that just a few years ago tried to get me to open some ghost accounts. They asked to to open additional saving and checking accounts.
