Alex Lippard worked on me using Shiatsu/acupressure treatment for headaches. I have an incurable Brain Illness known as," Refractory Chronic Cluster Headache." Otherwise known as, "Suicide Headaches." This Brain condition earned the nick name by being, as my Neurologist, Dr. Peter Goadsby writes, "Refractory Chronic Cluster Headaches provide the worst pain known to man or woman on Earth." So, now I'll finally land the plane... While I was headed into a Cluster Cycle, I decided to receive a treatment from Alex. Mind you NOTHING works to relieve me of this excruciating pain besides some pretty heavy duty, prescribed pain medications, and an oxygen tank to boot. Even with pain meds, these headaches usually last for 3-4 hours. However, when I got the Shiatsu treatment, Alex was able to shorten the length of time and the intensity of this Headache! It was like a miracle!The period of time this cycle lasted was only an hour as well as the pain level going down from a 10 to a 5 within the first 10 minutes of my massage, absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! I wish Alex lived closer to me (I live in San Diego, CA), as I would have him use this particular massage therapy on a regular basis. As this is the first time in 4 years something other than pain medication helped me to get this horrible pain under control. Of the many massage therapists I have worked with, I consider Alex one of the best. I had a torn ACL, and Achilles Tendonitis, and for two years I used regular massages to aid in rehabilitating my injury. I first met Alex at Equinox where I am a personal trainer. During one of the monthly Trainer Forums he presented functional exercises + stretches, I was immediately impressed. He introduced me to various different massage styles and showed me how he could combine them to help me (and my clients) recover from injuries and to prevent future setbacks. I always keep Alex in mind when referring clients with alignment issues, repetitive stress injuries, or who need more flexibility. Depending on the day, I either go to him to relax with a Shiatsu mixed with some classic deep tissue, or if I'm having discomfort I ask him to do medical massage. It's nice to have someone that can accommodate your needs when they change. Right now I'm seeing him on a weekly basis for sports maintenance to support my regular physical activity. read more

Pain is difficult to deal with on a day to day basis and when you come across someone as gifted and intuitive as Alex, there is a blessed feeling of relief and joy. I am a writer stuck to a computer a large part of my day and although I exercise regularly to relieve the tension, a few years ago I developed an constant pressurized pain centered in my neck which travelled down my back and was just non-stop. I had x-rays, sonograms, pain injections, you name it -- nothing helped. Searching an alternative to drugs (which didn't help much either) I went and had a massage by Alex. The relief after the first massage was instant. I went a whole week without the constant pain. I rarely write review but this experience with Alex was amazing. My girlfriend purchased this massage primarily because my complaining of back and my laziness to do something important for myself!! The massage was professional and the referrals were super nice. I am not gonna lie I did not do what Alex suggested like take it easy and drink a lot of, water ! did I do that NO! I have worked with Alex a few times, and he is fantastic. Appointment booking is easy, and while he isn't cheap, he is well worth it. He has extensive anatomical and bio-mechanical expertise, which enables him to find the source of trouble even if it's not exactly where you tell him to look. He understands how muscles and fascia function, and different ways they can be dysfunctional. He is not a "beat you up" body worker. Alex is the best masseur I've ever experienced - and I've tried quite a few. It's not just his technique, but he's incrediably intuative in sensing the areas that need and require his attention. He has been instramental in making me aware of the various factors causing my pain and discomfort. He's annylized and assisted in correcting posture and difficency issues in my posture, how I walk, and how I've build up some areas of my body to the detriment of other areas. Texted Alex and was in with him in under 25 minutes, late on a Friday night--his flexibility was a godsend. I had already gone to urgent care earlier today and gotten muscle relaxers but his orthopedic massage was the thing that allowed me to walk without flinching and finally turn my head without horrible sharp pain.
