I came to massage warrior & I was super impressed... This is the type of massage I've been jonesing for for years... Brian was amazing! Now I'm usually a girl who prefers silence during her massages but with Brian, I enjoyed the conversation. We chatted the entire 90 min of my massage about travel. He is hilarious, well versed, and well traveled... I digress...the massage was deep tissue indeed. The conversation was needed to distract me. He hit everything: neck, upper back, lower back, feet, legs, IT band, etc. I felt super relaxed after my massage. And I did it early on a Saturday evening, which derailed quite a few party plans cause I was so relaxed after he did such a great job. I was like, 'Parties? Eh, just one. Would rather veg out.' But you feel really good after leaving albeit a bit tired from spending almost an hour in pain. Brian did not coin himself the "Massage Warrior" in vain! In my opinion, he did that name justice! I have been having a horrible crick in my neck for weeks now. Just when it seemed to have subsided, I did an upper body workout that brought it right back! I was in so much pain I could barely move my neck from side to side. I felt like I wasn't going to be able to function at this point and decided to call Brian, who I had bookmarked awhile back. I wasn't interested in a " feel good experience" I was looking for a " feel better experience" you know the difference right? No? Let me explain.. "Feel good experience" you walk in where you are greeted by a receptionist who escorts you to a little dark room and hands you a towel and slippers to the sounds of Enya softly playing in the background. The aroma of eucalyptus, ( or maybe lavender) are wafting in the air.. you lay there while the ever so accommodating massage therapist rubs smooth warm stones on your back, or tickles you with what they call a Swedish massage. Yes, I said tickle because that's basically what it feels like. Yes, relaxing though it may be, it accomplished NOTHING.. ok well maybe you did " de-stress" a little because you snuck in some nap time while enya lulled you to sleep.. but that's about it. That relaxation quickly comes to a halt and reality sets in when you are in the lobby realizing you are handing over 100 or more bucks and all you got was nap time.. you walk out with that knot still in your back as you wonder what was the purpose of it all!?? Ok, ok maybe I exaggerate just a tad but you get my drift! So now on to the " feel better"......after..... experience.. I'll describe that by sharing my experience with Brian.. Thankfully you don't have to compromise the ever accommodating Masseuse with him. That he is.. none of the frills but who needs those? He works out of a very nice and safe high rise building. His work space is extremely tasteful and comfortable. No, he's not gonna give you the fluffy slippers.. but that's ok because what he IS going to give you is soooo much more.. can you spell R.E.L.I.E.F? ( I hope so cos I'm not sure I did but I digress) Yes, you WILL feel relief! He will listen to you and get a feel for what your problem is and then use his technique to work it out. At least this is what he did for me.. there were a few moves that he had me do with my arms as he worked the knots out.. some might call those moves painful ( not me cos I'm a thug) but let's refer to this feeling as pressure. So yeah, you could feel quite a bit of pressure. As I did these few moves I could feel the pain gradually subsiding. Then the rest of the massage he worked his magic. He wasn't rough or harsh. He simply addresses the needs. Well, long story short ( haha just kidding, I know it's too late for that) I felt sooooo much better immediately. Brian has an awesome energy and you can tell that he has genuine interest in people, I think that is, in part, what accounts for his skill, because he truly wants to help you feel better. I am so happy that I am able to write this awesome review because when you initially try new places and establishments, you never really know what you are walking into, especially when you are entrusting someone with your body in a vulnerable state. Yet Brian quickly earned my trust and made me confident that I was going to get good results, and I wasn't wrong! ( Now I'm moving my neck back and forth just for the fun of it! I better be careful I don't get that crick back lol) I already scheduled another appointment with Brian, not per his request, or any pressure on his part for me to do so, but because I really wanted another massage from him. I found Brian through a Lifebooker deal for two 90 minute massages. This is definitely for therapeutic purposes - not a spa-like experience with a gentle body rub. The office is very clean and comfortable, albeit simple. I hold a lot of tension in the neck/shoulders/back area, and sometimes I leave a massage feeling a little underwhelmed by the lack of pressure that has been used. However, Brian really gives you a deep tissue massage that works out the kinks and knots. I will definitely book an appointment again in the future. read more

I've been visiting Brian for massages for 6 months now. I love that he offers ART (active release technique), and really appreciate when he uses this myofascial technique on my traps and shoulders. I like my massages hard (deep) and I love that sore feeling the next day. I feel like new after a massage from Brian. I also really like it when he works my glutes. He presses several trigger points and it releases the tightness I have in that area. He addresses exactly what I need during each visit. And the pressure is just right. A friend had referred me to Brian several years ago before he set up Massage Warrior, so when I saw the Amazon deal, I jumped on it. Now I'm hooked! I've got back issues that result in a lot of nerve pain in my left hip and leg, and after Brian worked on it, I woke up in the morning not in pain for the first time in, honestly, I can't remember how long. As others have said, Brian's technique is not a spa massage, so if you prefer soothing and relaxing and incense and Enya music, he may not be your man. But if you've got specific knots and kinks you want worked out, it's well worth your time and money (and he's not even that expensive by NY standards!). I find it very tough to find a masseuse who gives a therapeutic massage that is also enjoyable! I was having a lot of discomfort in my shoulders and back for weeks, and after a deep tissue massage with Brian I felt amazing. He knows exactly what to do without you having to point him around to the sore spots... It was painful at times, but in a good way - in a way that meant he was getting out the knots! Amazing. Went to him after I got a voucher on Lifebooker. Best $35 I've ever spent in my life. I'm a long distance runner and I always have aches and pains. I went to him after my last half marathon and I never knew I could feel that good! Holy moly...hands down, the best massage I've ever gotten!! All I had to do was tell Brian that I was a runner training for the NYC Marathon and he knew EXACTLY what areas to work on. Just to name a couple of reasons why Brian is so great, his technique is such that he kneads your tense muscles and knots into submission. He also works on areas that I've had ignored in the past - like my IT Band and adductors since I have been dealing with a bout of tendinitis and encountering tightness in my hip flexor. Really disappointed. Skipped a lot of the areas I really wanted worked on. Once I asked him to lighten up on the pressure on one particular muscle he never went back to the technique he had started with. I had really looked forward to working with him but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I also don't like talking during a massage but that's all he wanted to do it seemed. I've been remiss in reviewing this place, but after a recent massage at another business I remembered how excellent my experiences with Brian were. The difference between what you'll receive here vs a typical NYC massage parlor is enormous. The effects of Brian's massages stay with you well after you leave. Brian is the most gifted masseuse I have ever seen; he is equally comforting as he is knowledgeable about using therapeutic massage to help the body heal. I was referred to him by my favorite bikram yoga instructor (who is also a personal trainer) after developing a particularly nasty repetitive stress injury in my upper back. I trusted her implicitly, and she trusted Brian. Physical therapy had not helped my injury get better, and when I first went to Brian I could barely raise my left arm a few inches. After only 4 sessions, I noticed a considerable improvement both in my range of motion and pain level. As my upper back healed, I was able to return to bikram, as well as beginning other forms of exercise in the gym including weight training. Brian also advised me what exercises I could do between sessions to help strengthen my back and prevent future injuries. He is nurturing, funny, reliable, and extremely supportive. I still travel periodically to Tribeca to see Brian although I live in Riverdale, the Bronx. I give him the highest possible review without hesitation. read more
