The owner Leanna wasn't clear about a lot of things regarding the treatment to my hair i entrusted in her. She wasn't the best in working with relaxers at all and chemically burned my scalp leaving several painful scalp sores. Hair was okay when I left the salon chair but that was due to styling. In the end my hair turned out bad and I was very unhappy. After a little bit of a fight she finally relented into giving me a refund for only the relaxer part of my visit. Leanna is a great hairstylist. Omg !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when I say she can do hair, I mean it. I had a 2:30 appointment and was out by 3:30pm. I have never gone into a black hair establishment and been out so quick. I brought my laptop to finish up some work because I thought I would be in there the whole day. I was surprised when she laughed and told me it wouldn't take her that long. I chuckled because I didn't know what she meant. Did she mean she would be done in 3-4 hours, nope it took less than a hour. My hair was washed, treated, straightened, trimmed, and laid. My baby hair was blending with rest for once. lol. She is sweet and social. I felt like I was at home talking to an auntie.She is a beautiful spirit and woman. The price is a deal. Im from Los Angeles and I just moved to Sacramento so I was a little hesitant. As a black woman, I don't let anyone into my hair that I don't know but Leanna is different. I think I have found my new hairstylist. I plan to make it official and book a new appointment in a couple of weeks. If my hair wasn't wrapped up right now I would take a picture to show her work. I'm not big on reviewing unless, I come across something exceptional: Leanna of Modern Edge Salon is AMAZING! I really wish I had before and after pictures to post of what this lady did for me last week. She gave me a Brazilian blowout early February. I was washing my hair every other Saturday or so and my hair slowly started going back to natural state. Roughly 6 washes later my hair did not look like hair anymore but like straw and felt like a Brillo pad. I texted her on Saturday morning, she offered to see me that same day. I couldn't go in so I went in on Sunday. I asked her for another blowout but after inspecting my hair for about 90 seconds she told me we'd try a simple shampoo and blow dry. After she blow dried my hair I could've seriously walked out feeling beautiful. And after the flat iron, OMG! My hair looked like I had just gotten a relaxer! I could not thank her enough! I can't vouch for all her services but, if you need a Brazilian blowout and you need maintenance on it then LEANNA is your girl. Icing on the cake is how fast this woman works! Thanks again Leanna! Fantastic! Went in for a Brazilian blowout and loved it. I've had quite a few before and this was definitely one of the best. I have pretty curly/frizzy hair, and this has made my hair so much more manageable. Picture is from a 4-5 days after I think the third wash and about 4 days after running a straightener through it. Leanna is charming, fun to talk to, and great at what she does!! She gave my daughter's hair a Brazilian Blowout, and the look and feel of her hair is so much better. She had gone from Natural Blonde to Dark Brown to Bleached Blonde to Vibrant Blue to Bleached Blonde to Hot Pink to Bleached Blonde again all in one year! So you can imagine how dried out and damaged her hair has gotten! I apologize as this review is long. Leanna scheduled appts for my sister & I at the same time w/ the idea to switch back & forth between the two of us. This didn't go very well as my sister was constantly left to the side like the forgotten step-child. We both wanted the groupon for 105 which included a cut, style, & balayage treatment. She asked that we not buy through groupon & pay her directly. This regret immensely & do not recommend to anyone. The night started innocently enough when we first got there. She asked what we wanted & we each showed pictures of one w/ pink and one w/ dark purple. She started w/ my auburn hair (the one that wanted purple), asked how short I wanted my hair cut, & proceeded to do a preliminary straight cut w/ the promise she would go back & style it after the color. She then immediately proceeded without doing a test strand or consultation for how my hair would turn out and did a sloppy, uneven, & streaky bleach job (a technique none of our friends who had similar color done have experienced). After bleaching my hair, she then proceeded to my sister's hair & because her color was more difficult, she said she would do a test strand. However, to the stylist, this meant giving her an even sloppier & uneven/lopsided bleach job. After which she tested a bit of the pink on & said she could either deal w/ the barely there pink or keep the poorly done blonde streaks in her hair. In no way should this technique be acceptable for any professional. After the bleaching, she the put in SEMI-PERMANENT color (we were never told this would be the type used & had we known we would never have agreed because this means after a few washes we will have disgusting orangey blonde streaks in our hair). She then proceeded to dry my & make light of the fact that the colors were uneven, the one I wanted with darker purple, has more blue & blonde coming through than any purple. There are even patches of chalky light blue. And because of the technique she used to add the purple color, my base color even changed to an indigo (a color I specifically said I DID NOT want). Even though my sister was still sitting w/ bleach in her hair, she proceeded to try to style my hair. She asked what cut I wanted & I said layers that were long enough so I can tie them back in a pony tail because I work in a science lab where I need to keep the hair out of my face. She left the straight cut at the bottom & did one cut down each side of my face. Now when I put my hair up, I look like I have come out of a 90s boyband because pieces fall down towards my face. There is no way to remedy this because she already cut it too short & I cannot risk going shorter. When it was my sister's turn, as I said earlier, she put a little pink on one of her bleached strands and said "oh well, it won't turn out." My sister had no other option but to go through with the non-pink pink or else be stuck with brassy tiger hair. When she was finished w/ the dye, she had an even larger array of colors in her hair. While the stylist said the bright pink was not achievable, it was obvious it could have been done because she has two strands on the bottom part of her hair that are cotton candy pink. She also has blonde still poking through & a mess of colors she never would have wanted. She also asked for layers, but instead got the same boyband haircut and at least 2-3 inches shorter than what she asked for with a straight cut. Both of our haircuts and colors look so amateur that our teenage niece could have achieved the same result with kool-aid and a pair of child scissors. To add to the horrible night, she had a faulty cape wrapped around my sister that came undone frequently that allowed my sister's dyed hair to stain the brand-new sweater she just bought. We spent nearly 6 hours there and by the time we left it was dark & we were exhausted. The next morning when we walked out in the sunlight, is when we realized how bad it was and we both felt so embarrassed, we had to wear our hair up. We immediately texted Leanna & showed her pictures and asked for a refund. She messaged back that she would not offer a refund and that she did everything that she could as a professional for the price we paid with the groupon. My sister and I are still disgusted by the way she has handled the situation and refuses to take ownership of a bad job. We understand all professionals can have an off-night and it is never a good thing to have to give money back, but she needs to acknowledge that she did not provide her best efforts for our hair. We now are forced to look into small claims court, & we have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as well as the Dept. of Justice. We are also fighting the charge on the credit card as we already received estimates for how much it would cost to correct (we are talking hundreds of dollars each) and she refuses to pay full price for the sweater stating it somehow loses value after 1 wear. DO NOT GO HERE!! read more

I had lighter hair which had grown out so I went in to get a balayage to combine be and create that look. I specifically mentioned I didn't want orange/brassy look. Not only did it come out orange brassy it didn't really look like anything was done to it. Still looks like my hair is growing out and needs to get redone.
