Amazing work the team displays here at this community. Alzheimers and Dementia is not a easy task to do daily for loved ones

This requirement was not shared with us until after we had taken a tour and the nurse came to my mother's house for an assessment. We could have save everyone a lot of time had that requirement been conveyed at the beginning.

We have friends that recently did that, and they are very happy with their choice. Our main consideration is to spare our children the responsibility of caring for us when (not if) we are not able to do it for ourselves. Our real estate agent, Zachary Roberts had toured it already, and he came with us. I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked through the front doors of Harmony at Greensboro. Marian Ragsdale, their Director of Sales and Marketing, met us with a warm welcome. Then what I immediately saw was a bright, cozy gathering room filled with people enjoying one another. All around on the walls I saw beautiful artwork, tastefully incorporated with fine furnishings. It was "swanky." We walked past a dining room where the tables were covered with white tablecloths and set for company. Marian showed us several residential 2-bedroom apartments. They were bright and beautiful. I had seen the floor plans, but they didn't do them justice. Let me just say that if you are considering whether to tour a community, do it for sure. Standing in the middle of each room, I could easily feel myself living there. If that were not enough, the services that they provide - fine dining service, housecleaning, light-bulb changing - anything you are now doing at home they do for you. Lastly, I thought it would feel like hotel living, but I say it's more like living in a neighborhood. I wanted to come home and pack!

The entireties of the staff - from the sales, to skilled nursing, to the dining room servers were welcoming, obliging, and happy (which is not always the case in senior facilities!) The residents we encountered were equally cheerful! My father decided on that 1st visit that "this was the place for him", and fortunately there was an apartment that would be available to him in a week's time. Unfortunately, as is often the case with elderly parents, we experienced a medical "emergency" with my Dad several days before his scheduled move-in. The amazing team at Abbotswood moved mountains to get him in-house, and under their expert Living Well @ Home skilled nursing care...an answer to our prayer as we could not give him the care he needed. The team at Abbotswood is enthusiastic, respectful, responsive and incredibly professional! The grounds are beautiful! The interiors are updated and bright! The restaurants serve wonderful food, and are accommodating for each resident's particular needs! I doubt you will find anything in the Triad that is even close to the gem that Abbotswood is!

Within a week of moving in I knew I had made the right decision. This is a community made up of people that are a large family. EVERYONE is very friendly. I felt welcome from the moment in moved in. We have active residents from 60 years old to 98 years young! The staff is exceptional. They are part of our large family. They always greet you with a smile and your name. "Good morning Mrs. B" It is amazing how much that can mean. And when I say staff I mean everyone -- the maintenance department, the housekeeping department, the cooks and wait staff, our activities coordinators, the nursing staff, the security staff and the administrative staff. You get the idea - everyone!! As a resident I can be as involved as I want to, or stay more in the background. When you move in you have a Mentor to help you get your bearings. On going we have a Care Chain that makes sure no one feels alone. Bottom line is this is a great place to live. If you are thinking about this kind of move - do yourself a favor and check out Whitestone before making any decisions.
