Hidden Gem! I cannot recommend this place enough. The customer service is fantastic and an extremely ZEN getaway. When you arrive you get complementary house tea. (chamomile mint licorice). I booked an appointment same day over the phone for 7PM. I got room #4 with the spa and sauna. The room is extremely clean and smells like eucalyptus and mint. When you go inside, you have fresh towels and hot tea. They have a chime that warns you when you have 10 minutes left. Will come again!
I got the couple's massage with hot tub session. Massage was more of therputic rather than deep tissue or any other. The tempo is slow and claming, the water sounds from the fountain outdoor makes the entire environment very relaxing. Hot tub area is private and outdoor. Entire place is private and has sauna and shower area as well. After massage, you're directed to the hot tub area and get to enjoy the time in the hot tub. Teas and robs and towels are included.
Well Within Spa in Santa Cruz is an absolute gem. The staff is welcoming, professional, and makes you feel relaxed from the moment you walk in. The massages are top-notch--one of the best I've had. The private hot tub and sauna room is such a great touch and really takes the experience to the next level. Clean, peaceful, and perfectly set up for unwinding. If you're looking for a nice date night or just a place to fully relax and reset, this is it. Highly recommend
Well within in a semi residential neighborhood near the boardwalk and downtown definitely has possibilities. A lot of them didnt mature on this visit but were so close. They can massage two people at the same time, just in different rooms....a new take on a couples massage. My Swedish massage was average. Not the worst, by far not the best. After the massage we spent some time in a jacuzzi room. The hot tub is hot. There is a sauna too. Its a dry sauna that you can laddle water if desired for a mist. The view outside the window was very good. Staff friendliness....a C plus.
Drove 7 hours from San Diego to this spa and it was absolutely worth it. Such a welcoming place- hot tea was ready when we arrived. The staff was very accommodating; although we were scheduled for 10, they were able to let us in at 9. The water was the perfect temperature, and the sauna was spacious and clean. We were given extra towels, which was really appreciated. The shower areas were spotless and stocked with shampoo, shower gel, and conditioner that all smelled amazing. Overall, a relaxing and thoughtful experience.
My partner and I went for an anniversary massage and soak. The building is cute with a ramp to walk or roll up. You're greeted by the main waiting space where you pay, they have some salts and things for purchase and can opt for water or tea. I had Yazmin and my partner had Sophia. If the hope of the massage was work out kinks or knots in your body that was a missed mark. The goal here seemed more so to gently touch shake or hover for the 80 min massage including holding my ankles without any type of massage or pressure for 2 minutes. Yes 2, I looked at the clock at the head of the table because I found it confusing and then annoying. As that was toward the end of my massage, I was personally just ready for it to end so I could move on to the soak. My partner shared the pressure, despite check- ins, fluctuated significantly but sounded like more attempts of working with enough pressure to ease some aches was felt. We are glad we ended with the spa portion as the jets were strong and actually hit some points on our backs with enough pressure to relax. The sauna room was at a warm comfortable temperature that if you stayed in long enough would heat you up but didn't necessarily steam with the eucalyptus water that was available. 3 stars for massages but 4 for the sauna/tub rooms.
Absolutely amazing experience and I'm a bit of a spa junkee. Fantastic value and a nice easy walk from the Boardwalk. I started with an incredible massage experience with Sam which left me feeling relaxed and renewed, unique with a bit of Reiki and myofascial release. Followed by an extended soak and sauna sesh in the private Onsen Retreat room with my husband. Highly recommend if you're looking reset!

Reserved the couples special (50 min massage + 50 min tub room for $295) for a weekend in Santa Cruz. We booked a couple days before and they were able to accommodate us for an afternoon time which was perfect. The was our first experience with a tub room and it was outdoors! Very unique, very tranquil. We enjoyed the tea and amenities to shower after. Next up, massage time! Yesenia and Cecily were our masseuses and both did GREAT. We agreed this was the best massage we've had. We will be back!
What a unique experience I could not find in San Francisco. Until proven wrong...Well Within Spa will be my go-to spa experience. I took my partner here as part of his birthday gift and he also felt the service at Well Within Spa was great. I purchased the Couples package for $275 ($295 with tax, not including tip), including a 50-minute Japanese-style spa and 50-minute massage. We both agree that the 50-minute massage was THE highlight. *Tips: -Book a reservation! It gets packed, believe it or not -Most of the parking is meter-based and does not end until 8 pm, not matter the day you go unless it is a federal holiday -Bring sandals -No need to bring towels, robes, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, -Couples massages are in separate rooms *Overview: Service: 10/10 Quality: 8/10 Vibe: 10/10 Ambiance: 9/10 *Couples package review* SPA ROOM: Upon arrival, once you sign the liability form and wait for your name to be called, a staff member gives you a tour of your spa room and then shows you where each of your massage rooms will be as the couple's massages are done separately. We were assigned the outdoor spa room. Included in the room were one medium-sized kettle of Hot tea (Chamomile, Peppermint, Pomegranate, Ginseng concoction), Complimentary cold water in a dispenser, two tea cups, two robes, two tote bags (you can not keep the bag), two towels. The staff member will advise you to rinse yourself in the shower located inside your spa room before you enter the jacuzzi. The spa jets were working well. I read in other reviews that there were ants, but thankfully, we did not encounter that experience. There is also a sauna in the spa room. There was calm Lofi music playing, and you could adjust the volume to your liking. When your service is 10 minutes close to done, you will hear a bell. You have 10 minutes to get ready to transition to your massage room. You will not be guided by the staff member to go to your massage room, nor will the masseuse give you a heads-up. MASSAGE: WOW. Shoutout to Laurel. This was the first time I ever received a full-body massage, and I felt SO good. The masseuse will ask you what areas of your body you would like to focus on, and if you have no preference, then the masseuse will just do their usual massage routine. The masseuse will request for you to undress after they leave the room, and you lay face down on the massage bed. There was calm meditation music in the background. The view outside the window was a very cute Japanese-style garden. Laurel went IN on the massage. I appreciated Laurel asking me if the level of pressure she was using during the massage was okay before she proceeded with the full-body massage. I felt so comfortable and felt I got my money's worth with the quality of the massage. Overall, all the staff we encountered at Well Within Spa were so friendly and chill. The quality of the equipment did not seem top tier, but they also were not horrible or dirty, which is most important. I wish there was something like this in San Francisco! It was definitely worth driving out to Santa Cruz to experience Well Within Spa.
Amazing place to visit for a nice and relaxing spa day! My boyfriend and i visited for our anniversary trip, and it was super refreshing! We did the couples special in which you get a 50 min massage as well as a 50 min soak in the indoor hot tub room. The room includes a sauna as well as a shower with the soaps you'll need. They also provide complimentary tea which i wasn't a huge fan of. As this was my first time getting a massage, it was comfortable and relaxing. They wrap you up in towels and work on different areas at a time. The hot tub room was very private and peaceful, looking upon the zen garden. My only complaint was there was a few bits of wood and equipment that was run down, and there were several ants crawling around. And after our session no one really directed us what to do or where to go to put the robes and towels at. I definitely did walk out of here feeling very airy and zen, like my whole body was relaxed and lighter.
Found this place on Tik Tok. It was easy to schedule an appointment with plenty of availability. We scheduled a 50 minute couple massage followed by an hour in our own private area with a sauna and hot tub! Location is perfect with parking easy to find! It was me and my partners first message and it was amazing! Will definitely be rebooking again!
We asked for the Indoor Spa room 5 since it included a sauna! I would say that it was not enough time to do both sauna and tub within 50 mins for me, but I heard that they have extended time on Tuesdays! It was overall very peaceful and enjoyed the tranquility! We also asked for a 80 min massage and it was so wonderful! We both felt like we were renewed! I definitely recommend this place and want to go back!

Loved it here, we came on a Wednesday for their Wednesday deal. Massage for phenomenal shoutout to Yazmin! I usually like more time on head massages but her technique is unique and not the same as other masseuses. Onsen with garden view was so cute, perfect for friends and couple room was big. 4 stars! Well Within is a zen like, miminally decorated spa that offers a relaxing & detoxifying hot tub, dry sauna & massage & is located in the heart of the bustle of downtown Santa Cruz. It's walking distance from the main street, so if you park & pay for a few hours, it will likely cover your time at Well Within. Well Within is a lovely retreat away you can do solo, with your special boo or with a few lovely pals. Both rooms I've had here had a hot tub with a view that opens up to a peaceful, manicured green garden and koi pond. The room has a fragrant cedar dry sauna that was such a lovely hot & calming treat. There's also a shower inside complete with shampoo, body wash & conditioner that I like to use upon arrival. There's lovely hot tea provided, towels, even wet bags to put your wet items in. And of course there's the jetted hot tub that's super hot and so relaxing. My favorite way to enjoy this experience is, first shower to get all the oils, soaps, hair product off, and then enter in the steamy hot tub. After it gets too hot and uncomfortable, cool off in cool water from the shower, then heat back up in the dry cedar sauna. After you can't stand the dry heat anymore, rinse off in the cool shower and repeat the whole process. When all is said and done, the gong has sounded, you're dressed and out the door, be prepared to be limp, quiet & peaceful afterwards. When I leave here, I am so calm, so mellow, and so relaxed. Its like a wonderful slice of peace for my mind & body. A few downsides: they only allow 50 minute slots for this whole process for $45, which is not a whole lot of time for me personally. By the time I'm loosy goosy & relaxed, I feel like I am hearing the gong, which means it's time to clean up, get dressed & head out. Another thing is, because it's an older establishment, it's starting to show its wear & tear. Would I go back? Yes. But I'd ask for a double time slot for 100 minutes if they'd let me, or I'd head over to Tea Spa, another similar spa that's more expensive but has longer time slots. read more
I was looking for a place similar to an onsen and this place is pretty close. Check in was fast and easy. The receptionist accommodated a last minute add to the spa room and easily added one more person. No one got massages and only used the spa room. The room came equipped with bench, hot tub, sauna room, and hot/cold shower. And the room can easily fit 4 women. The room also faced a garden that had a stream with koi fish swimming in them. Very serene. It was $40 per person to use the spa room for 50 minutes. Staff would ring a bell to indicate 15 min remaining. 50 min is a short time to enjoy the room. Overall, it was a good experience just short. read more

Such a beautiful, relaxing place! My boyfriend and I were visiting Santa Cruz for a weekend and really wanted a personal spa day. We booked a session in the indoor spa which included a hot tub, sauna, shower area and house tea. We got a lovely view of the koi pond/Japanese inspired garden and fresh air from the open screen doors in our spa room. It was a great memorable experience. read more

A memorable spot... It was so quick and easy to reserve online or through the phone, show up, and relax, which is exactly what we went there for. The rooms were private and the atmosphere was serene. A peaceful, luxurious retreat -- perfect for our anniversary! My husband and I recently celebrated our 10-year wedding anniversary at Well Within Spa, and we truly couldn't have chosen a better place. From start to finish, everything about our experience was exceptional. The cleanliness stood out right away--every corner of the spa is spotless, fresh, and thoughtfully maintained. The atmosphere is adorable, with serene, Japanese-inspired touches that make you feel like you've been transported to a quiet retreat far away from the daily grind. The Japanese robes they provide are so comfy and elegant--it made the whole experience feel extra special! We booked couples massages, and let me just say: Christopher and Amanda are absolute masters of their craft. It was, without a doubt, the best massage either of us has ever had. They were attentive, intuitive, and incredibly skilled--our muscles felt totally renewed. Afterward, we relaxed in the private hot tub and sauna, which was the cherry on top. The level of privacy and peacefulness made us feel like we had the entire spa to ourselves. Everything from the cozy spa amenities to the heavenly rosemary conditioner (seriously, I need to find out where to buy that!) just added to the experience. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and so grateful we chose Well Within Spa to celebrate such a special milestone. We'll absolutely be back--and next time, we're staying longer. read more

We had a wonderful experience at this spa-- we booked the couples special on a trip to the area (spa room for 50 minutes and a 50 minute massage each in separate rooms). The spa room, equipped with a sauna and hot tub, overlooked the garden and pond- it was such a pleasant and relaxing experience. We loved the complimentary tea provided so much that we purchased some for ourselves as well. After the spa room, we went upstairs for the massages. It was my first time getting a massage ever and I didn't really know the process or what to expect. It was a pleasure working with the massage therapist there, June, who was kind, welcoming, and communicative, and explained the routine for the massage from start to finish. June made my first massage a truly wonderful experience. I would highly recommend checking out Well Within Spa! read more

And the tub time was relaxing with the garden koi pond and the comfortable Japanese style setting. However as other reviewers noted there are ants and equipments are outdated. This place is such a gem! Loved my 50 minute hot tub and sauna shesh! They have both indoor and outdoor tubs, rooms with just the tubs, and rooms with a sauna and tub. And best of all, all are private! Yes, you've got your whole space to yourself and your group. Each option is $35/person for the 50 minutes. We opted for an indoor tub/sauna room and this was definitely the right choice for a gloomy day. We got fresh air from the screens opened to the outside and had a lovely view of the koi pond where we watched the rain drops fall onto the water. The room came equipped with a shower that included shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, hand and bath towels for the number of people in the party, and tea as well. The time did go by sort of fast as there's a bell that rings 40 minutes into your session to let you know it's time to start getting dressed to be done at the 50 minute mark. I had assumed you had 50 minutes of tub time, which could be the case if you don't have much to put back on. We also started a little bit late so our time was cute short by a few minutes, but nonetheless, it was a lovely and relaxing experience and I can't wait to come back. read more

This place is a DREAM! Go yourself, or get your loved one a session here! The whole place was so clean, the hot tub and sauna were immaculate. This was probably my favorite spa experience I've had since traveling to Turks and Caicos. A really special experience I just went today and I'm already booking again for later this week! Call the number on their website to make a reservation. The facility is older but well maintained and pretty clean. The private rooms are spacious and the view of the little garden is absolutely gorgeous! Perfect place to decompress, relax, and feel tooooootally recharged. As a plus, their shower products smell GREAT and you can also purchase them at the spa! read more

Didn't realize there was another spa in Santa Cruz other than Tea House Spa! Overall, I enjoyed my time with Well Within more than Tea House Spa. I felt that this establishment was more spacious and less money-greedy. The lobby, bath room, and sauna were all more roomy. I remember the sauna at THS had one bench and felt cramped. WW has a bench with two tiers (think bleachers). A problem I had with THS was their soaps. Everything was in a bottle so "high-quality" that I could barely squeeze out any shampoo and body soap. Another problem was the staff at THS gave us a 10 minute warning but came back way before my reservation was over. I booked until 6:30 but was made to leave 6:17. WW did not rush us at all. I definitely think WW was worth the $ but I can see how THS' entrance is aesthetically pleasing. read more
A breathtaking experience! We had a much-needed self-care day and it was so worth it. Unfortunately, the massages were all booked for the day, but we were lucky enough to get the hot tub & sauna tea experience with the outdoor koi fish view! The parking situation isn't the best, but there's a lot to do around the area if you do end up parking far out. We parked at a lot which was a few blocks away. It was near some restaurants and it was perfectly fine! We even walked a few more blocks after our relaxing time to get some ice cream. Everything around the area is pretty walkable since it is downtown Santa Cruz. :) If you are on the fence about coming here, consider this your sign to go! read more
One of my favorite places in Santa Cruz to get a massage. The massage therapists are knowledgeable and can help you recharge. If you book through the week days, you can get a relaxing room with the sauna and hot tub included with a 50 minute massage. The interior is a bit dated but they more than compensate with the cleanliness. It is very clean and well maintained. It is the go to place in Santa Cruz to relax and unwind!! read more
Great location and great facility. We booked 3 days earlier for a weekend slot. This is the place if you like hot tub and some zen. We tried room 4 which is indoor, same rooms are 5and 6. Room 2 I believe is an outdoor pool. The room has private sauna and shower. The bathroom is shared though. The room also provides towels and chairs tea. What I really like is the sound of streams in the yard outside of the room. With the sauna and hot tub it just feels so relaxing. After the session I feel my whole body has pores open and breathing. Staff will kindly remind you 10 minutes before session ends. The rooms are cleaned between every sessions and water is exchanged everyday. read more

This was one of the highlights of our trip! My fiancé found this hidden gem and decided to give it a try. Two people, 50 minutes for $35 each?! What a GREAT price! Plus they have deals throughout the week. The onsen was a tight fit for two people, so make sure you're comfortable with each other! At first, we asked for a hot onsen bath, but after spending some time in the sauna, a cold bath sounded a lot nicer. We were able to adjust the temperature throughout our time. I booked a couples massage and hot tub/sauna service for my anniversary and it was such a relaxing time! It really transports you to an zen garden in the heart of a city. When you book a couples massage, expect to be separated into different rooms for your massage. It was my first time going to a massage therapist and Nicolette made me feel so comfortable! We did go over time which cut into our hot tub experience, but it was worth it :) My boyfriend loves massages but he said that his experience was relaxing but didn't get out the knots he needed. I think he might be a picky grader since he goes to massages often! Things to know when booking: -Street parking available, luckily my boyfriend and I found a spot next to the location. You shouldn't have to walk more than 5 minutes -Bring your own slippers if you're going to the hot tub! We were provided a robe to wear after the massage so you won't need to worry about changing -Ladies, you may get oil in your hair during your massage when they massage your neck. I think this is completely normal. Just let them know beforehand and they'll be sure not to spread it up! - This might be a no brainer, but bring clothes that are easy to change in and out of haha (I ended up wearing like 4 layers) - They will provide complimentary tea during the hot tub and sauna along with towels Overall, it was a great experience! read more
