Came here to celebrate my birthday with friends, but unfortunately had a really negative experience. We booked the outdoor tub/ sauna room, as well as two massages. We hit a lot of traffic coming down from the Bay Area and were unfortunately running late to our massage appointments. While we understood that we couldn't expect our massages to be the full time as they were scheduled for appointments right after ours, we were still hoping to redeem part of our massage. Sammy who works at the front desk was especially poor in her customer service. ***Just an FYI (as it is not listed anywhere on their website or told over the phone when booking appointments as this is their only method of accepting appointments) the cancellation/ re-booking fee for a 50-minute massage is $100 (the full price of the massage is $125). We arrived 30 mins late to our appointments and they informed us that the massages would have been wrapping up around then so we weren't given the opportunity to squeeze in 20 minutes of a massage and were charged the $200 for the cancellation fee. Again, we understood that this is a small business and that we paid for the time that the masseuse was available, but the staff was extremely rude and unaccommodating. My friend had asked if we could reschedule one of the massages to an available slot that day, at 5pm, as she wanted to make sure I had a nice birthday experience but they informed us that that would also be a $100 charge. Overall to the staff at Well Within, I highly encourage you to post cancellation and re-scheduling fees on your website and update clear policies as I was unable to see any of this in writing. The tempo is slow and claming, the water sounds from the fountain outdoor makes the entire environment very relaxing. Hot tub area is private and outdoor. My partner and I went for an anniversary massage and soak. The building is cute with a ramp to walk or roll up. You're greeted by the main waiting space where you pay, they have some salts and things for purchase and can opt for water or tea. I had Yazmin and my partner had Sophia. If the hope of the massage was work out kinks or knots in your body that was a missed mark. The goal here seemed more so to gently touch shake or hover for the 80 min massage including holding my ankles without any type of massage or pressure for 2 minutes. Yes 2, I looked at the clock at the head of the table because I found it confusing and then annoying. As that was toward the end of my massage, I was personally just ready for it to end so I could move on to the soak. My partner shared the pressure, despite check- ins, fluctuated significantly but sounded like more attempts of working with enough pressure to ease some aches was felt. We are glad we ended with the spa portion as the jets were strong and actually hit some points on our backs with enough pressure to relax. The sauna room was at a warm comfortable temperature that if you stayed in long enough would heat you up but didn't necessarily steam with the eucalyptus water that was available. 3 stars for massages but 4 for the sauna/tub rooms. read more

It gets packed, believe it or not -Most of the parking is meter-based and does not end until 8 pm, not matter the day you go unless it is a federal holiday -Bring sandals -No need to bring towels, robes, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, -Couples massages are in separate rooms *Overview: Service: 10/10 Quality: 8/10 Vibe: 10/10 Ambiance: 9/10 *Couples package review* SPA ROOM: Upon arrival, once you sign the liability form and wait for your name to be called, a staff member gives you a tour of your spa room and then shows you where each of your massage rooms will be as the couple's massages are done separately. Shoutout to Laurel. This was the first time I ever received a full-body massage, and I felt SO good. The masseuse will ask you what areas of your body you would like to focus on, and if you have no preference, then the masseuse will just do their usual massage routine. The masseuse will request for you to undress after they leave the room, and you lay face down on the massage bed. There was calm meditation music in the background. The view outside the window was a very cute Japanese-style garden. Laurel went IN on the massage. I appreciated Laurel asking me if the level of pressure she was using during the massage was okay before she proceeded with the full-body massage. I felt so comfortable and felt I got my money's worth with the quality of the massage. Overall, all the staff we encountered at Well Within Spa were so friendly and chill. The quality of the equipment did not seem top tier, but they also were not horrible or dirty, which is most important. I wish there was something like this in San Francisco! This place is such a gem! Loved my 50 minute hot tub and sauna shesh! They have both indoor and outdoor tubs, rooms with just the tubs, and rooms with a sauna and tub. And best of all, all are private! Yes, you've got your whole space to yourself and your group. Each option is $35/person for the 50 minutes. We opted for an indoor tub/sauna room and this was definitely the right choice for a gloomy day. We got fresh air from the screens opened to the outside and had a lovely view of the koi pond where we watched the rain drops fall onto the water. The room came equipped with a shower that included shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, hand and bath towels for the number of people in the party, and tea as well. The time did go by sort of fast as there's a bell that rings 40 minutes into your session to let you know it's time to start getting dressed to be done at the 50 minute mark. I had assumed you had 50 minutes of tub time, which could be the case if you don't have much to put back on. We also started a little bit late so our time was cute short by a few minutes, but nonetheless, it was a lovely and relaxing experience and I can't wait to come back. read more

SC native, been coming here for years off and on. When my wife got the time to make the drive to Refuge, that is our go to relaxation spa day spot cause you get a lot of bang for your buck and you can stay as long as you out like. But if you're looking for a private spa in Santa Cruz area, Well Within is great and a solid experience. The rooms are always clean and kept up well, the staff is friendly and personable. I haven't had a massage here in years, but the last one was good. Most rooms are equipped with a sauna and hot tub. The Onsen room is nice with an outdoor soaking tub that you can add Epsom salts to. The only negative to the Onsen tub is that when you get in the room the tub is barely filled and you have to wait for it to fill. So if you got the room for 50min you're wasting some time waiting for it to fill. But that's a minor downside cause we're talking 5 min or so. Also the Onsen tub is tough to fit in as a couple, my wife and I are fairly fit but I'm a tall guy and we struggle to sit comfortably in it at the same time. Their hot tubs are plenty big though, could be a bit hotter sometimes. Also for those looking for steam rooms, you won't find one here. Just sauna and hot tub. The Japanese zen garden area you can view from your room is nice and tranquil. Privacy is nice here. The minor critiques for this place are outweighed by the good and for what you're paying you're getting a consistently nice relaxing experience. read more

I felt that this establishment was more spacious and less money-greedy. The lobby, bath room, and sauna were all more roomy. I remember the sauna at THS had one bench and felt cramped. WW has a bench with two tiers (think bleachers). A problem I had with THS was their soaps. Everything was in a bottle so "high-quality" that I could barely squeeze out any shampoo and body soap. Another problem was the staff at THS gave us a 10 minute warning but came back way before my reservation was over. I booked until 6:30 but was made to leave 6:17. WW did not rush us at all. Room 2 I believe is an outdoor pool. The room has private sauna and shower. The bathroom is shared though. The room also provides towels and chairs tea. What I really like is the sound of streams in the yard outside of the room. With the sauna and hot tub it just feels so relaxing. After the session I feel my whole body has pores open and breathing.
