Went there today for 60 minute facial. Esthetician left the room for 15 minutes while the mask was on, sat up at one point wondering when she would come back. Don't know if this is normal protocol there (it is not at Burke Williams in San Jose, they give foot/hand message when mask is on) . Called to make an eyebrow appointment only to found out I had to give my credit card number over the phone. Feeling a bit skeptical, the receptionist said I could go to the online booking instead and enter it there. So, I did. It wasn't that much better. After creating an account, I received an email with my credentials; however, no temp password or clear instruction on what the next steps would be. See screenshot attached. At this point, I was more curious than frustrated as to why make it so difficult to make an appointment. So, I went to the site's login to book. Now remember, no password was given. Out of sure luck, I clicked "forgot password" which sent an email to create a "new password". By this late in the game, I took it as a sign to not book. To the owner, please revisit the "book online" feature with your 3rd party vendor. This is not the standard nor easy for the future customer and more of a deterrent. I have been going to Kalani Day Spa for facials with Abbey for YEARS. I loved it there, it was happy place. My mom got me a gift card for a postpartum massage that I booked in person months in advance to take advantage of a 15% off sale that they were having. The baby ended up coming 2 weeks late via emergency C-section. So I called to cancel my appointment. They told me I wasn't in their system that I never had an appointment. I said great thank you! Then I got a text reminder for my original appointment. Called in again, same thing I wasn't in their system. I don't have an appointment. Then I get ANOTHER text reminder for my appointment and I'm getting anxious that now it's getting close to that 24 hour cancellation where they will charge me if I don't show up for my appointment. So I leave my 6 day old baby for the first time BEFORE I'm ready to hobble down to the spa in person when I should be on bedrest to now try and change the name on the booking to my husbands to treat him since he's been taking the lead on our sons care because I'm recovering from MAJOR abdominal surgery we didn't plan for. The lady at the desk again cannot find my appointment. I show her the appointment reminders on the phone. Ask her if she can schedule my husband for an appointment instead. She struggles with the computer trying to make an appointment for what feels like hours (probably 20 mins), and I'm bleeding out getting more anemic by the second and more anxious to rush home to my newborn baby. She asks me to wait till her colleague gets back from lunch. I have my mom calmly explain to her how I'm getting anxious being away from my baby and we leave as she promises to call us to confirm when her colleague completes the booking. We NEVER received a call. We had to call them back again. I had to have my mom calmly talk to the manager because at this point I'm LIVID. She explains that my original appointment was booked with a therapist who no longer works for them so that's how my appointment got lost in the system because they don't have a master system they just book per therapist, so when she left my appointment left with her, no one bothered to rebook with another therapist. My mom explained to them that, that is not a good system obviously and asked for compensation for all the stress and anxiety this caused for something that was SUPPOSED to be a way to destress postpartum. My mom suggested free lotion, a gift card, extended massage time. All the gave us was waiving the cancellation fee. So now I'm looking for a new spa if anyone has any recommendations and I do not recommend anyone to go to Kalani Day Spa anymore for fear you'll get lost in there system like me. read more

My daughter wanted a spa day for her birthday and we got facials and massages. They are a busy spa so I do recommend getting thinking ahead to schedule your service. Staff/Ambiance Everyone is very friendly from the moment you walk in and did their best to make sure we had a good experience. The place is CLEAN, tranquil and relaxing. The decor is meant to make you feel like you are in the islands, the walls are turquoise blue that is elegant and visually appealing. Massage - we had the Swedish massage which is similar to a rub with long strokes/pressure. Very relaxing. When I made the reservation I shared that Swedish massage was not for me because I prefer something with more kneading and pressure and was told their Swedish massage would be firmer. It wasn't. But the massage was very relaxing and enjoyable anyway. We think We'll get a deep tissue massage next time, the Swedish really is like a firm rub down. Facials - we both loved our facials! The esthetician was very soothing and took great care of our skin. She also recommended products for us (although they showed us products there was no pressure to buy which is nice!) I finally have a luxury full service day spa close to my home! When you first walk in the atmosphere is positive, peaceful and comfortable that looks and smells good. Kalani's entire staff is welcoming and warm. Kalani has a comfortable sitting room that provides a perfect relaxation area for pre and post treatments with fresh infused water, magazines and an electric fireplace. Each therapist whether message or facial asks the right questions and explains the various stages of each treatment. The treatment rooms are well equipped with really comfortable heated beds with plush linens, calming ceiling up lighting, tranquil music, hooks for clothing and ottoman for belongings. Kim and her staff have high standards of hygiene and cleanliness at the spa and it shows. So, they have fallen off. I've had three things happen: someone forgot to click a button and didn't actually book an appointment so I had to wait weeks more due to short staffing. I can let that slide, no problem. Secondly, they booked me with a person who did not know their way around the place. Didn't know how to turn on music so she stopped and got her phone to put music on. Didn't know where the breastfeeding pillow was so I had to show her, forget the dumb look the receptionists gave me. Ok that's fine the massage felt good I'll give it another chance. Third, they mis book me AGAIN, massage therapist Tara has no clue about the breastfeeding pillow and gets totally weird when I try to point it out to her in their little kitchen storage area. At that point I don't want this person to massage me, she has bad vibes. The receptionist continued to charge me full price for NOTHING. My family has been going there since it was exhale. We have purchased so many of their healing products. Don't go there unless you want to be massaged by a 80 year old and have some weird receptionist stare at you like you're crazy for advocating for yourself. I had the most amazing deep-tissue massage from Camilla . She found all my nasty spots on my back and tackled them with the strength I have been looking for . Seriously my back hurts right now but In the best way because all my tight tension is gone. I wasn't able to flip side to side in my bed without serious pain and I slept with ease last nite .
