Prestige Roofing & Construction - Roof Repair

Prestige Roofing & Construction

UPDATE: After my review, the owner emailed me. He did not answer a single one of the many defects…read more Instead, he accused me of using a higher than real amount invoice for an insurance claim. Here is the invoice story. We paid in full on September 20, 2024 -- $45,700 in total, on a signed contract of $26,700 ,and asked for the invoice the same day. For two weeks I followed up more than ten times, by phone and text. Nothing. When something finally arrived, on October 2, it was not an invoice. It was an "estimate" for $50,000 -- more than I had paid. I rejected it in writing that same morning and demanded an invoice for exactly $45,700, "without any discrepancies." Accusing a customer of insurance fraud, in writing, without a shred of evidence, is a serious thing to do. I have kept that email, and every other email and text between us. In two years of emails, he has never once signed his own name, not even on the email accusing me of fraud. New discovery: more than one independent GAF Master Elite roofers have inspected this roof since. The deck feels soft underfoot. The old deck he tore out was five-ply wood that came off in whole, solid sheets; it did not need replacing. His own paperwork promised new plywood "same size." What he installed is the cheapest grade of CDX, stamped 15/32 of an inch -- a half-inch-class panel full of knots and voids where the inspector says a roof like this should have 5/8. Premium price. Lowest-grade material. Not the size his own paper promised. 0 star. Prestige Roofing & Construction replaced our roof in August 2024, full plywood deck replacement included, for $45700 -- with a 25-year warranty. Our contact throughout was Adrian Brati the owner who seemed reasonable at first and won our trust. The agreed price was in the $20,000s. First day after opening only one section of the roof deck, we were pressured at our door to replace all of the plywood -- without the rest of the roof ever being opened for inspection. The total jumped to $45,700. Under New Jersey's home improvement rules, any change to the price or scope of work must be put in a written change order signed by both parties -- we never signed one. Around the same time, I learned that the decades of company history we had been told about did not check out: the company had been registered only months before our project. A bit over a year later, the roof started leaking during rain -- repeated water intrusion in two rooms: water dripping from the living room ceiling, caught with a bucket, and water stains spreading on the ceiling above the dining room. We reported it with photos and video. The problems persist, after light rain, water visibly ponds around the dormer base-there is no cricket, so the dormer sits in standing water. Their patch changed nothing about that. In October 2026, in a preliminary inspection, an independent GAF Master Elite-certified roofer documented: Splits in the membrane itself, membrane delaminating and peeling at the edges, no cricket behind the dormer or chimney so water ponds with nowhere to drain, failing sealant around the skylight and window frames, and rotted wood patched over with caulk instead of proper flashing. I have photos and video of all of it. Meanwhile, Prestige keeps saying they need to "investigate." Five months after the first leak report and two patch visits later, there are still no written findings and no permanent repair. I sent five specific technical questions in writing on October 14; as of today there are no written answers -- only "we'll call Monday to schedule another inspection."

I recently had A1 Gutters and Roofing replace my roof, and I couldn't be happier with the results…read more I found them online and got quotes from six different contractors, but I didn't choose A1 because they were the cheapest -- I chose them because of their thoroughness and professionalism. Before starting the job, they conducted a detailed evaluation of the roof and did the same once the work was complete, to make sure everything was done right from start to finish. They also brought in a licensed electrician to properly disconnect and reinstall my solar panels, and thoroughly tested them afterward to confirm everything was working correctly. In addition to the roof, they rebuilt my chimney and installed beautiful new 6" gutters -- the whole property looks fantastic. What really stood out was how flexible and fair they were during negotiations. We worked together to agree on a contract that worked for both of us, including a 50-year extended material warranty and a 25-year workmanship warranty. On top of that, they went above and beyond and threw in an extra item as a gift, which I really wasn't expecting. A1 Gutters and Roofing is professional, skilled, and honest from start to finish. I highly recommend them -- give them a call; you won't be disappointed!

With so many roofers and contractors in existence it's difficult to find one that can do the work…read morein a competent and reliable manner. One may expect such work to be costly, but so be it. A1 Gutter and Roofing in Garfield, NJ is no exception. So too have we heard and, perhaps, experienced some dishonesty among this lot. So it is significant when one discovers a contractor who is legit, trustworthy, and highly professional. Having to replace an entire roof including structural repairs of its wooden beams, new insulation, and re-bricking of the upper portion of the chimney was a major undertaking. The entire project took two weeks. It's impossible to describe just how well this job was accomplished. Picture may do it some justice. Overall, this customer is pleased beyond measure. What a relief!

I will start by saying that I am a DYI'ER and have zero tolerance for up-selling, price gouging, or…read moreany hint of being scammed. Had I felt pressured or up-sold, I would have been at home depot pricing ladders and safety harnesses. Did I mention I hate paying anybody to do stuff in my house. I called 3 roofers on a Friday morning after spending a night with my bedroom looking like the Captain's Quarters of the Titanic. One of them had an answering machine, and the other had automatic service tell me they would call me back by Tuesday of the following week (Neither ever called back). The third, George Ray, answered the phone, checked his schedule and agreed to come by later that day for an estimate. He called me to confirm, arrived on time, took is time looking at my ceiling and roof from multiple angles, pointed out the problem area (sliding roof tiles and broken siding), gave me fair estimates for the repair OR the entire roof which I will soon need (my roof is 20 years old). He then checked with his crews and agreed to do the work the next day ahead of a pending rain storm. The next day at 7AM they rang the bell and started work. The crew worked quietly, were thorough, cleaned up, and left within 4 hours. Mr. Ray came by as they left, confirmed the work was done correctly, answered questions, and assured me they would return to do the job again for free if I had any problems in that area. Three massive rain storms later...I am still a satisfied customer. He is likely to get a call from me (hopefully not real soon) when I am forced to do the entire roof. In the meantime I have already recommended him to a close friend two blocks away who needed a roofer.

The representative was very professional and knowledgeable. He saw the problem quickly, laid out some plans and even gave us a discount on the work because of the quick response time. They also offer a wide variety of products to choose from including asphalt shingles, metal roofs, and slate roofs. I would recommend Ray Roofing any day as they were great with our situation !!
