The initial sales person was a classic over-seller and promised the world while simultaneously doing a very surface-level review of the situation, ultimately concluding that we were in need of an indoor water mitigation system and sump pump. The sales process was tortured, over-the-top, and ended with the classic "same-day-only discount" proposal (red flag number 1). The scheduling process and lead-up to the project was radio-silent with no preparation on what to do or what to expect from the project manager or the sales person until I reached out proactively. I had to call the morning the project was set to begin to even know if they were coming or not (red flag number 2). The project itself eventually began and within less than an hour it became obvious the source of the leak was in fact a burst pipe and not ground water coming in through the basement. I called the office and put a stop order on the work at which point they immediately became very cagey about what options were available to me and from this point on once again went radio silent (red flag number 3). Upon reaching out to the office multiple times (via both email and phone) to address the issue and seek at least a partial refund of our deposit for the issue, they took 3+ days to even respond, and when they did, claimed that despite obvious pictures pointing to the pipe being the issue, it could have been ground water at the same time and they were unable to provide any refund of any kind (red flag number 4). I get that I signed a contract. I get that they planned and scheduled the work. I also now have learned an expensive lesson about trusting my gut and being more proactive about my concerns. But they're supposed to be the experts! And the fact that they took absolutely no responsibility for having done a poor assessment of the situation up-front and then pretended like they were actually still right about it was disappointing and embarrassing. I can't in good faith recommend working with this company to anyone.

It seems like the inspector is more for the seller rather then the buyer who is hiring them for contingencies. I have done construction management and commissioning before so I dont know how in my case where a window latch on an exterior window thats UPSTAIRS is considered a low priority where there is a fall risk, wind/gust that goes through since it cannot fully latch and would need a potential replacement - which in hand did not help our case with settling on the deal to get this resolved. Literally handed us a paper and not even a follow up call to discuss the contingencies on the home. All I got told was that they only look visually and even when I looked you could see it is a bigger issue than what it was marked as. Waste of $475 that I could've done myself, oh and when I email the owner Hulbert, same half response of excusing the poor inspection that was done. I do not recommend this inspector company whatsoever. I forgot to mention - his wife when I told her the situation told me "This happens when you get a home" like what kind of response is that, don't know but this family business is beyond disappointing and a let down to put it nicely. This establishment lacks the actual foundation of what and who they're doing this for. Also the inspection was 30 minutes for a 3 bedroom and 3 bathroom house.... I've seen people thoroughly inspect homes smaller and take longer.

A…read morestructural engineer had drawn up the plan, and any changes that were needed had to be approved by him, as per the contract. The job took weeks longer than estimated. At one point, I was told they had hit rock and had to make some changes but that it had been approved by the structural engineer. I found out later they had never contacted him. I assumed the work was being done properly, since it had been inspected by the county Building Inspector. Besides leaving a mess of debris and garbage behind, they damaged my existing drainage system, cutting drain lines to my downspout, and breaking a pipe. The area should have been graded, seeded and strawed but was left a muddy mess. The outside cracks in the concrete foundation wall were left completely untouched, allowing water to enter and cause further damage. A 2-foot hole appeared in the ground at the corner of the house. The "company official" (his title) Scott Beers, told me none of this was in the work order, so they were not responsible. (The work order consisted of one general line). He refused to speak to me after that. I found out that the county evaluated the repair to be $8,000, but Basement Solutions charged more than twice that.

With this info in hand, I called them to share that the job was not done correctly (i.e. Radon Control Professionals "fixed" our pipe to sit underneath out bedroom window); however, the POC on the phone stated that he would charge me to come out to get the job done to code. He also told me that it was impossible for them to fix our system without replacing the entire thing. Okay. So not only does this company not know how to do the job right the first time, they also will charge the client again to fix their mistake or oversight or laziness. Instead, our realtor referred us to SWAT Environmental (https://swat-radon.com). I called SWAT and they said it was an easy fix and they could take care of it in a few days. The tech just left. It took him 45 minutes and now our pipe is secure and to code (i.e. above our roof-line). So, if you're looking for a radon company. AVOID RADON CONTROL PROFESSIONALS and go with SWAT Environmental.

Save your money and avoid frustration - look elsewhere for radon remediation assistance!
