I love that there are always friendly critters running around near their check out area that love getting a quick pet (cats & this low rider pup that is adorable). I'm really grateful for Geren's! All the staff wore masks. They were extremely helpful, and when we found a tree they cut it for us and transported it to our vehicle. They also put the tree on a shaker to get any loose needles off, and bundled it up professionally and efficiently. The cost was $8.00 per foot until 8 feet, $10.00 per foot after that. They also had wreaths of various sizes available. Beautiful selection! Plus free twine to attach to our SAV.

Last week I was having a problem with a pattern I was working on, so I drove out to Designer Yarn to ask Sherri for help with it. Even though I hadn't bought the yarn there (got it at Oregon Flock and Fiber last year), Sherri helped me figure out what I'd done wrong, which I really appreciated. That kind of customer service will keep me going back there over and over. Sherri does a good job of keeping up with what's new and popular and the variety of yarn that she carries shows that. Now she carries spinning fiber as well! You can find good quality yarns at Designer Yarn no matter what your budget is, and Sherri lets you browse to your heart's content. She doesn't hover, but is always available to answer questions. Anytime I go to Sandy, Designer Yarn is on my list of places to go. Highly recommended!

In 2021, they moved to Sandy. Their website maintains an availability sheet so you can see what they've got before you make the drive out, but it is worth visiting to see the plants in action. They have small display gardens. The entire property is outdoors so dress warmly in case of rain. They're open year round, but at a high enough elevation that they get snow in winter so plan accordingly. I recently visited looking for plants to go near my frog pond. The staff was so helpful in showing me around to potential options. I have a decent native plant knowledge but they've got so many options! Plants I've never heard of before! As usual, I left with more plants than I planned on getting :) So far, they're happy in the ground, and I can't wait to see how they thrive in spring.
