My daughter had expressed an interest in acting for some time, but kept changing her mind every time we got to the point of going to check it out. Then early this year, the urge was so strong that she agreed to let me make an appointment for her to go and see what was what. We got to the place early on a Saturday and the butterflies were starting to get the better of her, but we were able to successfully overcome them with a gentle nudge, and a guaranty that if she was not thrilled that I would be back to pick her up in an instant. Well let me tell you. That introductory class ignited a flame in her, and a confidence in herself that I had not seen before. I have never seen her strive and work as hard at anything like this ever before. Ralph, the Artistic Director; Megan, and Dan and the rest of the people at the school are the nicest, warmest and most wonderful people I have ever met. They make the kids feel safe and accepted and nurture them as if they were their own. They truly make the kids and us parents feel like family. Four generations of my family have put on an art show together which includes painted bird carvings from my grandfather, watercolors and oil paintings from my father, pen and ink illustrations from my sister, and pen and ink illustrations from my niece. The staff at the art center is so incredibly friendly and helpful and spent hours helping us put the show together and display all of this art. It's easy to park and walk right into this art center if you are a senior citizen. There's an elevator to take you to the top floor, and the theater is a large size for performances with comfortable seating. Very impressive community arts center located at Ocean county college!

During this time, I…read morehave had the privilege of working with Bernard Glincosky, as well as some incredible fellow actors/students; many who came to the studio to develop their acting skills and others who joined to overcome issues of anxiety or seeking creative, emotional outlets. When I first came to TPAS, I--like some of my fellow students--was determined to overcome some pesky anxiety symptoms; also, longing for more creative pursuits--all the while reeling from the pains of a dead-end, soul-crushing job. It took a little while for me to "come out of my shell," but once I did, I instantly responded to Bernard's mindfully-crafted approach to acting and "the business." While I had always dreamed of being an actor, I never expected to be taken seriously as one. However, as I began to redevelop myself (under Bernard's direction), I fell back in love with performing, grew more disciplined, and developed a newfound confidence and strong motivation to pursue a career in the field. Flash forward to today, I have TPAS to thank for the motivation and professional development that has helped me to book 2 commercials and regularly gets me called in for auditions. I am so grateful to Bernard for instilling in me a range of skills that I can utilize; not only in my acting work, but also in my personal life. The bottom line: Bernard is an incredibly honest, yet supportive acting instructor and coach. Despite some of us being complete…read morenovices, Dennis was able to give the class a solid understanding of different ways we can use our voices to be more effective in capturing the spirit of the character we are playing as well as practical exercises that we could do on our own. When we did our recordings, he gave each of us feedback that we could use, not just for the characters we chose, but things we could use generally for any part. Dennis ultimately gave us many resources where we could continue to work on our craft and potentially even land Voice Over jobs. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with NextGen Acting.
