Inspite of bad service we had a very good meal. The kids ate the potato pancakes with apple sauce and loved it. The schnitzel and potatoes were very well prepared as was the mixed meat plate. The special meat was flat our bad. I tried it based on another yelp review but it was very chewy and lacked flavor.

The dining options are picture perfect..in the garden out front or in the 500 year old building accompanied by the owner's cats. Ambiance is old stone walls and a rustic cozy cottage feel like nothing I've experienced elsewhere. This is truly a unique dining experience. A real must try.

Still the best food!…read more We went back to show our baby the restaurant where we got married. This time I ordered the veal filet and hubby got the bratwurst which were both so delicious! We also ordered the spaghetti with truffles for our baby to try! All of the dishes were delicious! And of course the scenery and service is the best !

Delicious and wholesome!…read more I ordered my choices based on a previous Yelper's recommendations: the house apertif (white wine with peach liqueur) and schnitzel. Both were delicious, the schnitzel was served with a salad, and I was stuffed by the end of the meal. This place is famous for being old, and we loved the history behind it!

The food at Alte Haus was better. Menu available in English. FOOD: 4.5 out of 5.0. (names of foods are taken from the receipt) - Tapelspitz rosti: 4.5. Tender roast beef with a nice sauce. - Schweineschnitzel Wiener Art: 4.5. breaded mashed-thin pork. Beautiful aroma with herbs; served with lemon, salad, and fries. - Dessert - chocolate souffle with whipped cream and ice cream: 5.0. Excellent. DRINKS: 5.0 - House apertif: 5.0. This was really special. Cool Riesling wine with a touch of peach liqueur. - Wine: 4.5. I had a semi-dry; she had a sweet - we both enjoyed it. SERVICE: 4.5. She was very attentive and personable with a warm smile. We enjoyed paging through the photo book of Altes Haus and the village, including a 1950 photo of the owner (who prepared our meal) as a young girl. AMBIANCE: 5.0. Indoor and outdoor seating. Inside has dark wood decor with interesting older (mostly b&w) photos and other items on the walls.
