Dr. Sioufi diagnosed my issue quickly, assured me of the path forward and eased my concerns. Despite much closer alternatives to my home, I will continue to go to this office - I trust this doctor and his staff.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience trying to schedule care with Woolfson Eye Institute…read moreand Dr. Gaby Gutierrez. My appointment has now been canceled twice, including after I had already waited months to be seen. The most recent cancellation was not a same-day emergency situation. I was notified weeks in advance that the appointment would not be kept, yet the clinic did not provide a reasonable solution or help me get scheduled with another provider. For a medical practice, especially one dealing with eye care, reliability and communication matter. Patients arrange their schedules, wait for appointments, and trust that the office will respect their time. Repeated cancellations without an appropriate alternative creates a real access-to-care problem. After this happened, I looked further into the clinic's reviews and complaints and saw many other people reporting concerns about scheduling, communication, billing, insurance issues, and overall poor patient experience. Based on my own experience, those complaints are concerning. At this point, I do not feel confident moving forward with this office. I am thankful I found out before receiving treatment, because repeated scheduling issues and poor communication are warning signs for me. For anyone dealing with repeated cancellations or difficulty accessing care, it may be worth contacting your insurance company and reporting it as an access-to-care or network adequacy issue. Insurance companies need to know when listed in-network providers are not actually providing timely or reliable access to care. I do not believe contacting management will resolve my concern because this appears to be an ongoing pattern based on multiple reviews and complaints. I will be looking for another provider.

If there are any perks to having cancer, it's the fact that the man now has a recommendation for pretty much every type of doctor there is. I really liked Dr. Hewitt and the rest of the office. She was polite, quick, and volunteered information rather than having to extract it from her like pulling teeth. For example, I had no idea that I'm a good candidate for Lasik surgery and if my prescription doesn't change in the next year, she'd recommend me for it. Who knew? The rest of the staff was equally nice and none of them gave me the creeper vibe. The last thing you want is to be stuck in a dark room when you can't see well with a guy that's setting off your creeper alarm. Okay, maybe some people enjoy that, but I digress. I'm sticking with Dr. Hewitt and hopefully in the next year or so, I won't even need her to prescribe glasses or contacts for me.

Dr. Snelling performed a Refraction eye exam that was not covered by Medicare. Never told me Medicare would not cover the exam. I went to Dr. Pare for 15 yrs and never received a charge for the Refraction eye exam. So, I was very, very surprised when I got the Bill. Contacted Dr, Snelling asking for the charge to be removed. Never heard from Dr. Snelling or the office. Had to contact billing 3 times to get the answer which was Dr. Snelling would not remove the charge. Now looking for new Ophthalmologists.

I've had several appointments and not a complaint for a single one . I'm seen quickly and every step has always been explained and my questions are always answered completely. No one wants an eye injection (unless they are genuinely weird),but Dr Oh and the rest of the Georgia Retina group make it much less awful than it could be.

Unless you are willing to go to Bascolm-Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Dr. Jacobson is your best bet. He PERSONALLY took the time to understand my entire medical history (rather than having some tech-schooled, slow-writing medical assistant who understands about half of what you are telling her and writes down even less). Even more importantly, Dr. Jacobson demonstrated the ability to think about how existing medical conditions may affect my eyes. After having lots of experiences with MDs of all types, I can honestly say that Dr. Jacobson is definitely a rare and dying breed. Not only does he have an exceptional attention to detail, really good communication skills, outstanding capabilities and the most current knowledge of retinal disease, treatment and care -- he also seems to be a genuinely nice guy. The other MDs in the practice seem equally skilled...I don't have as much first hand experience with them except to say that I had an after-hours emergency and had to page the on-call MD. My call was returned in less than 2 minutes! Dr. Rivalese also offered to see me in the office on Saturday AM. Impressive that they are so responsive to non-life threatening emergencies. Most other MDs would tell their patients to "go to the ER"...but the ER can't do much for eye problems except charge you $2k and tell you to "follow up with your doctor on Monday". Sure, having eye/retina problems is terrible! But knowing that there is competent, professional care is reassuring. Give Georgia Retina and Dr. Jacobson in particular a try...I think they have several locations: Decatur, Riverdale, Perimeter, etc.
