I CANNOT begin to say enough wonderful things about Zev Lewison. If you want to avoid reading a long review, let me just give you the main synopsis - when searching for a loan officer, go with Zev. You will not regret it! I want to preface this with some information about myself. I am a 30-year old female, who was searching for a condo, by herself, for the very first time. Needless to say, I was a Bambi deer-in-the headlights entering the forest that is real estate and was completely lost, but Zev was thorough and walked me through every little step, ensuring my confidence in not only his work, but his word. Originally, I had another lender I was collaborating with on a condo I didn't end up signing with. Due to some concerns from the seller at the time, I had to search for another lender and my mom had recommended him because he happened to drop off his business card at her office, a few weeks prior. The very first day I called Zev, he immediately picked up and spent over an hour on the phone with me. He gathered all my details and even got me a pre-approval letter that same day because it was needed to put down for an initial offer. This was a Sunday! Unlike other lenders, he didn't just send me some dry link to fill out, but he spoke to me like a human being, which at times meant more than finding the right home. When that offer didn't end up working out, he was the only one to console me and tell me verbatim "you have to love the home you find, and if this one isn't it, you'll find another one that is." With agents and others breathing down my neck, he couldn't have chosen better words to keep me calm and levelheaded, moving forward. Once I found that home that I was super excited for, Zev continued to hold my hand through the entire process. He explained what all the closing costs would be, so there weren't any surprises, explained all the l steps needed with the condo application, inspection, litigation matters, and titles, just to name a few. To be completely frank, he often got me answers to questions I had that really should've been answered by other parties, but he persisted to keep me not only happy, but feeling safe and secure. When there was an issue with some of my closing costs, he immediately jumped on it and got the right parties at Weichert involved to come to a resolution. And when there were issues that came up completely out of his control, i.e. per the condo board, lawyers, agents, etc., he advised me on how to approach those problems to the best of my ability, per his seasoned knowledge of the real estate industry. Zev wasn't just a loan officer; he was an advisor, coach, even therapist at times lol, and a friend. With the current economy and market, I often questioned my decision to buy now, at one point so much so, that Zev got on the phone with me to do some breathing exercises. I am not kidding when I say this! As the deal kept coming into fruition, Zev would point out different things that, in fact, made my choice of a new home a positive one, such as the appraisal, the renovations on the building, etc. He didn't need to do any of this. Like most others involved in the process, he really could've just sent emails and documents my way, without explaining a thing, but he would contact me via phone at least once a day to assure I knew where in the process I was and what's to come next. He guided me so much so that the running joke became that I was a loan officer in training. All's to say, Zev provided a MUCH NEEDED personal touch, thereby helping to build my overall excitement toward purchasing my new home. weichert mortgage brokers and all non realtor employees, will say and do anything they can to get money out of you and don't care if it even ruins your life, especially the Morristown NJ branch. They'll take advantage of things like quick closings to leverage a ridiculous percentage rate, they lie to you about everything (ie they add uncommon and unnecessary fees to your closing costs and will tell you they'll waive it but they don't or they just bury it elsewhere and will lie why they increased it), they'll call your attorneys and tell them that you agreed to certain unnecessary services they offer (some that cost $5k) before you even know anything about them and of course they know you'll trust your lawyer so that's why they try hard to trick them before even shaking you down. They will say anything to you to squeeze another dollar, they sent me a document that they wanted as part of the closing documents that in essence states that any insurance, title, etc services that I already contracted is now void and only Weichert will be able to perform these services, and they tell you to your face that it's a necessary document to ensure "equal opportunity" and to ensure you are safe, and even tell you it's not part of the CDs yet in large bold letters at the top it says exactly that. They don't care anything about you and will do anything they can to shake you down and own you financially as if they were coal mining companies of the early 20th century and find new ways to never let you out without paying more money. There are plenty of brokers out there, and of course there's plenty out there who are just looking to make most money with minimal work, but weichert is the worst and they will say and do anything to get more out of you, regardless of legality, and especially no morals. They'll even piss on you and tell you it's raining, they are predators, so listen this one time to a review and do yourself a favor and talk to anyone else before Weichert (their realtors are okay but they also have a financial gain for roping you in with that group too so only use the realtors, nothing else, and know they lie so don't believe anything they say, you have rights). Once started, you may think they're nice and great til it's too late, don't let them do that to you. They will and sometimes you don't know till closing but they will milk you, one way or another, so respect yourself enough to go with anyone else. read more

Simply awful service. In 2020, they only paid a portion of our taxes resulting in us incurring a penalty. We ended up paying the balance ourselves. I have been trying to get this issue resolved for over 2 months and they can not figure out what went wrong. Will never do business with them or their agents again. read more

They have not only been absolutely worthless during this pandemic, they're actually peddling MISINFORMATION. PLS NOTE-if you have an FHA loan, you are SUPPOSED to be given multiple options for dealing with a forebearance. So..Weichert has a link on their site to where you can apply for a hardship application. I filled it out over 3 wks ago..never heard a peep from them. Finally, I got on their site and did the Chat with Customer Service. They couldn't tell me anything about my hardship application. They basically said they could do a forebearance of 3 months but at the end of the 3 months, I would have to pay back the entire 3 months' mortgage. ????? Yeah, that is totally contrary to the requirements HUD has laid out for servicers of FHA loans. HUD even added an addendum to their memo to servicers that states the homeowner should NOT be made to pay back the forebearance amount!! Ok, to give you a taste of what you are dealing with. Sent message through secured message center 14 days ago, then follow up 4 days ago, then another now. Finally opened chat (I was surprised that worked) and lady telling me: "I apologize, that you did not receive an acknowledgment. After the work order has been completed, a message will be composed and sent to you via Secure Message. Responses may take 15-30 days to be received since they are responded to in the order they are received and reviewed for accuracy before they are sent." I had extremely negative and weird experience with Joe Margaritondo. I was charged hundreds in fees to receive a denial with excellent score. Several hidden fees as well. I explicitly ask what this payment is for and why that high, they respond something and after the payment is done there is another article hidden for half of that amount. Continuous manipulations with numbers and interest rate, he came back with higher numbers every couple weeks. As soon as I decided I don't want to proceed and want my money back Joe is completely ignorant. Don't recommend anyone to do business with him and his company. I'm also reporting these people to trade commission. Luckily everything is well documented. I hope they will get a real prison terms. read more

Too much marketing - too little service to existing mortgage holders.

My experience with the Weichert Financial Services Department was horrible. It took them almost three months to approve my loan, and every time that I submitted a long laundry list of items requested of them, they would add a new laundry list of items for me to submit. They kept placing obstacles in my way to prevent the loan from getting approved. I'm just glad that the ordeal is over and that the loan was finally approved. read more

I do not recommend Weichert to anyone. I went with them because they were recommended to me by my realtor, Big Mortgage company and reliable. What a disaster, Weichert overpayed my taxes in October 2021 by $13,000 yes $13,000 leaving my escrow in the negative, When I received notification, I reached out and they sayed I had to deal with my town... now leaving me owing more than double for a mortgage payment since my escrow was in the red- AGAIN NOT MY fault Til this day they have not corrected my account. This is one entity I wish I could give ZERO stars to as they don't even deserve one. What a nightmare financial company to use for a mortgage. The buyer of our property missed 3 mortgage commitment dates because of Weichert Financial. I received confirmation from the bank it was their fault not buyer (so no ifs, ands, or buts on who is to blame). Fast forward to closing date, they have, of course, now missed 3 closing times over two dates. We are sitting here wondering and waiting if the deal will even close. Stay away from Weichert Financial. We've had our mortgage through them from the beginning, because we went through Weichert realtors to find our house. The mortgage company is the worst banking institution I've ever dealt with. They were terrible when we were getting approved and closing our mortgage and then even worse since we've been with them. The latest incident, which is the one I will tell you about, started with my wife and I double paying our mortgage for the month. Our mistake, not a big deal. We had asked them if they could refund one of our payments, because money was tight this month and we could use that money for other expenses. When we contacted them, they couldn't simply look at our account and see that we paid twice, they made us write a letter and show our bank statements verifying this happened. Not a problem, we did this and emailed them the verification. Ok, we are done I thought. We didn't hear anything, so a week later we called them to ask if they could refund our payment. They said yes you will get it in about a week. Ok, thank you, we will wait for it in the mail. We wait a week, nothing, no check, no credit to our account, no call, nothing. We call up and talk to customer service asking them what's going on. They inform us, they applied our payment towards the next month and we will not be getting a check in the mail or any direct deposit. OKAY, so you tell us one thing and then do a completely different thing, without notifying us. They have absolutely no customer service, nor do they care about how they treat others. This is from the top down, not the bottom level employees. They are pleasant on the phone, but the actual execution of customer service is terrible. We are looking at refinancing with another bank and running fast and far away from Weichert Financial and I would strongly suggest, not coming anywhere near this institution. read more

He answered all my questions with amazing promptness. He was never difficult to contact at all. He also fought hard to get me the best interest rate possible. I had another competitive offer from a different institution and Doug went out of his way to not only match it but beat it.
