We had such a good experience with Lily the first time, we wanted to come back to her. I went in Jan. to inquire about an appointment with Lily to file our taxes, but was told she wasn't there that night and they tried to get me to file my taxes on the spot since I was there; luckily I insisted to schedule an appointment and do things properly, while being prepared thoroughly..... just to find out later on that Lily no long works there, when my boyfriend called prior to the appointment (because they seemed odd when I was there, and vague when I asked about Lily) Anyhow.... after being deceived ...I thought I'd try them anyways due to the overwhelming good reviews on yelp.. but the same lady with a stern face and glasses attended me 2-29-2016, was less than friendly; felt like a session with a stern catholic school nun .... not pleasant. Before I even sat down, I told her I wanted a quote on how much my tax refund would be filing with them...since H&R Block and another flushing CPA (Ruth Wu - Sr.Accountant of Liberty Accounting & Tax Services) provided me with their quote. All she was willing to tell me was that it's $50 to file, take it or leave it.... but they won't offer an estimation to let people shop around. So why have me sit down, and then look at all my documents??? I get more friendly faces attempting to file my taxes online with turbotax right now... they got cute pictures too and very user friendly platform... not to mention, cost less too. In short.... you're a paid service.... so how about learning some customer service skills ?? a smile? nicer phrasing when speaking to people? Ask Lily to give you some tips if you guys still keep in touch. She was so friendly about 2 years ago, we still look for her... This felt excessive for the level of effort required. Every time he asked me for additional information, I always supplied it. Months went by without a word. 1 month before the corporate tax filing deadline, I received an email with the amount of tax due for NY State and Federal. He stated that he had completed my return (which was not true) and that everything was ready to file. I didn't hear from him again and assumed that things were ok. Wrong assumption. Being concerned that I hadn't received any communication, I called Lloyd. He told me that he was still working on my return and that he would have it done in a couple of days. A couple of days go by. Still no return. I call again and he tells me the same thing. This scenario plays out, over and over, for 2 weeks. I ask him to file an extension for me and he agrees. Every time I called Lloyd to discuss the status of the return, he would tell me that he was still working on it and that my return was especially difficult. Instead of taking the time to sit down with me and understand the situation, he avoided me and blamed me for his irresponsible behavior. I just called the IRS to find out if my corporate taxes have been filed. They informed me that they have not been filed (2 months late now). Lloyd never even filed for an extension. My corporation is now responsible for $400 in penalties. My wife and I also had to file for an extension on my personal taxes because of this debacle. This guy should not be practicing. period.

And, this is exactly what this accountant and his firm lacks (tone is set from the top). I've been with this firm for quite some time now, never ever have I needed anything beyond the "normal tax return," so it's been easy for them, I pay them $150 (talked to my CPA and CFA colleagues, turns out I was being ripped off for the vanilla return they were doing for me), but what really made me realize was when I need a CPA letter from them essentially affirming to my income as an independent CGI artist for movies and commercial, is when "no accountants were available to respond to me." This was 2+ weeks of chasing that I got this response from the front desk, and truthfully, for an accountant to not be able to attest to their work, is really suspect. Then I find out I'm overcharged, there are medical and company deductibles they've not helped me take advantage of, I'm really upset, and really think this is an unacceptable and unaccountable accounting firm, so would you go here?
