I have been seeing Dr. Wang and the therapists at her practice for over 10 years, so I am in a very good position to write a credible review. I am also a global well-being expert working with top corporations, so I know what professionalism looks like. I was astounded to see such vitriolic reviews, and I think that once a person throws the truly rude and negative doors open, others will follow. I was fortunate to see Dr. Wang for psychotherapy in addition to medication management after I was re-diagnosed with bipolar disorder at 40. Not only did she carefully affirm the diagnosis, but she also treated me like an adult, listened intently, gave excellent life counseling, and never over-prescribed medicine. She is a firm believer in holistic well-being, where self-care (i.e. sleep, exercise, nutrition, relaxation) and self-determination are center-stage. Saw reviews, ignored them because I assumed maybe patients were just a little too much, Visited her only because my insurance covered her and while filling out paperwork there's a section where it says if you post a bad review she will make all your medical records public and sue you, right there RED FLAG. In order to provide a correct statement this review would need a 100 page legal document to express what this "psychiatrist" does. She will misdiagnose you 100%, she personally has an obsession as (witnessed and told by many others) with diagnosing people with bipolar disorder and psychosis and to force you to take random anti-psychotics in addition to forcing you to buy this random book on Amazon about mental conditions??? like a car salesman. -1st appointment Her therapist/assistant is actually a very nice person, super kind (if she even is still there, I hope she changed jobs for her mental sanity). (prescribed anti-seizures, anti-psychotic and bipolar meds) I mean I went in simply for elevated anxiousness levels sometimes not to blow my brains with her pills and prescriptions, following that appointment also asked me to take a urine test to which she waited outside the door as if I was gonna escape somewhere? Like last time I checked this was not a mental psychiatric ward, I paid to receive professional treatment and so did my insurance (either she does it to bill insurance and increase the money she gets or just her hobby to pee test everyone) In all honesty, coming from a healthcare professional I don't know what is in her head, it is definitely not human but she must've either fallen/ been dropped at some point in her life to cause this irreversible damage in her thinking process lol, she legitimately is not on the same earth everybody else is. THIS IS A SCAM. I would give 0 stars if possible. They tried to incorrectly charge me an absurd co-pay/deductible. I have proof through my insurance emails that they were trying to charge me ~3x what I should have paid. When I refused to pay that I walked out without seeing the doctor and they said they were going to charge me a cancellation fee. So it's either pay 3x what I should and see the doctor or pay a cancellation fee and don't see her. Over 1 year later and multiple emails directly to the doctor showing her this evidence and not hearing anything back, they sent me to collections for not paying the cancellation fee. If I could give a negative rating for this doctor I would. You always hear horror stories about doctors who only care about money, and don't care about you as a person etc. and I had never experienced that until visiting Dr. Wang. My first went as follows. I arrived, and waited 45 minutes, and was charged $160 even though I found out later I only owed $45. I still have not received the money back that I overpaid. After finally being seen, I was talking to a therapist who asked me over 50 questions until I was finally seen by Dr. Wang. Once I told Dr. Wang I drank socially I realized what a mistake I had made. She went on and on about how bad alcohol is, and wouldn't listen to a word I said after that. Truly, did not listen to one word. Just kept cutting me off. I had come in for a refill of a prescription I had been on for years, and she refused to give it to me. Instead she recommended another medication. I never wanted to come back again, but also didn't want to have to do another intake at a new doctor so I came back. I had no other choice because this doctor refuses to refill your non-addictive prescriptions without seeing you in person, even though she doesn't listen to a word you say when you come in. This is because she wants the insurance company to pay her for an unnecessary visit. The second time I came in I waited 50 minutes. I wanted to leave after 45 minutes, and asked that they just cancel my appointment, but I was told I would be charged $90 if I left. Once I was finally seen, she did not remember me at all. This time I knew better than to tell her I drank socially (1-2 drinks per week), and told her I did not drink when she asked. I told her the medication she had recommended I take was giving me side effects so I wanted to switch to something else. When I arrived at the pharmacy to pick up my prescription I was told this is a VERY expensive medicine, which Dr. Wang failed to mention. Apparently they needed her to fill out an authorization in order for my insurance company to pay for some of it. The pharmacy told me they would take care of it for me, and communicate with her on my behalf. A few days later (I had been withdrawing from the medication this whole time), she was unresponsive to the pharmacy. I had to call and ask her office to fill out the authorization myself. I guess it was too much trouble, because I received the following email response from her: "Dr. Wang has discharged you from her care and suggests you find another Dr." This story speaks for itself, and I would suggest that if you have to stay with an in network doctor, to see ANY other doctor but her. read more

I have been a patient since 2011. My family encouraged me to leave her many years ago. I am pregnant in my second trimester and suffering my depression but functioning as best as I can be. I asked to reschedule my session for 5 days later due to the fact my unemployment is on appeal and I'm not getting paid. I am waiting for my mom to get paid to go and see her. Her office told me to go check into a mental facility bc I need it that I am no longer a patient in email. I called to discuss and they hung up on me. Never had a problem until now. So here I am, in my second trimester, suffering from my depression, and she drops me bc she didn't want to reschedule me due to the fact I can't afford the visit till this coming Friday. Who does this? In the past she would say sure no problem a few days ok but now she drops me like a bad habit all bc I can't afford it yet since I'm still trying to get my unemployment straightened out and need to wait till someone in my family gets paid to go and see her? Unfair and this is the first time she has ever done this to me. She usually is fair and understanding I don't know what changed. Addtl to my previous notes...she has called the crisis center on me at least 2x to the point they sent a team and the cops to check on me. The cops never showed so I have to go through this again tomorrow with the crisis center and after speaking to me today stated he knows I'm angry but I don't sound like I will harm myself, my unborn child or anyone else but have to follow protocol bc she keeps calling them. If I could give negative starts, I would. 3 years ago I should have been smarter and realized that when a doctor constantly pushes you to leave her a rave review online, there might be something wrong. I blame myself for not doing more research, especially since I am a well educated woman, however, finding a doctor that is on my insurance is difficult and I was desperate. All of the negative reviews that you read on the various websites about Dr. Wang are true and the positive ones say things that are completely not true. For the 3 years that my sons have seen her, she was NEVER on time for appointments. I have even witnessed her walk into her practice late with take-out food in her hand, even when she is over an hour late. The one time I had to cancel an appointment, she had the nerve to charge me $90 because I only gave 47 hours notice, not the required 48 hours. When you call the office, nobody ever picks up. You always have to leave a message. (Try it!) During visits, she constantly compared her son to mine and talked about her divorce and crazy ex-husband. She prescribed numerous psychotic drugs to my 9 year old for ADHD and kept changing them weekly. He was a mess and we couldn't take him off the meds until we found a doctor who can do it safely. We have finally found a competent replacement for her, however, she will not give my new doctor my son's medical records unless I pay a huge unlawful amount. I have reported her to my insurance company and to the NJ Department of Consumer Affairs. I hope that serious action will be taken against her so that others don't have to go through what we are going through. The reason I try to see her is because she can speak Mandarine. At the beginning she is very patient when diagnosing my symptoms and asking many questions. it's ok after few weeks but she keeps changing medicine because misdiagnosed me each time but the misdiagnosis which just made the situation worse. Worst kind of doctor - rushed, more concerned about finances than helping patients and plainly states she is not interested in listening. Takes non-urgent personal calls during visit while you are talking and does not bother to apologize. Writes prescriptions before the conversation is over even during initial consultation. Visits last less than 10 minutes. I have seen her rush patients out of her office even while they are still talking to her. When they ask if they can have more time she says they have to ask her during their next session. Feels like she is used to treating people accustomed to low quality healthcare. Staff is equally cold and uncaring but also loud. It makes for a tense experience. Overall visits feel like business transactions and billing complaints are frequent. Charges $5 when they send a paper bill even when you don't request a bill. Every visit I have seen at least one patient complaining about overcharges, including the office's failure to apply credits after overcharging them. There were no reviews about this doctor for Hoboken but had I seen the reviews posted about her treatment style from patients at her Englewood office before I made an appointment I would not have come here. This is a place where you pay a toll and pick up a prescription. I cannot speak about the therapists at this practice but strongly recommend you find another MD if you are looking for a therapeutic environment and compassionate treatment. read more

This is the worst doctor ever. Like seriously. Avoid at ALL COSTS. If I could give negative stars, I would. So I needed a psychiatrist, and made the mistake of finding Dr. Wang. I ignored the hundreds of negative reviews. I always think how bad can a doctor be? They had to pass exams and have patients to keep a business open, right? Well this was very stupid of me. I don't know how this doctor has a license? I don't know how she has the right to prescribe actual humans medicine and advise them on it? I started the appointment with a social worker, who was very nice and very smart. I could tell SHE knew her stuff. We went through my medical history, and she apparently gave the doctor my info. Well when the appointment with Dr. Wang started, she had no understanding of my medical history so.... what was that all for? Just to waste my time? I told Dr. Wang my medical diagnose in the past, which I had records of. I told her that I was diagnosed with OCD, and Dr. Wang started asking me about symptoms I had. I told her, and she started mocking and making fun of OCD. She said I didn't really have OCD because I wasn't "crazy" and "counting my steps to the door"..... okay so that really hurt me, and made me realize she didn't even know about OCD? And also said my past doctor, who I have been seeing for over 10 years, didn't know what she was diagnosing. As she went over my medical history, she asked a lot about my family's history. It became very INSULTING. My mother immigrated from a different country in her 20's and, as so many other people, struggled with money and couldn't afford college. She had to work hard at jobs, and worked hard raising her kids. Dr. Wang said my mom was lazy for never going to college, and said my mom probably was ADHD because she never went to college. She said people with ADHD are lazy (which first of all, my mom definitely isn't ADHD and she is the most hardworking person I know!). My dad IS diagnosed with ADHD, but Dr. Wang said there was no way my dad was actually ADHD because my dad has had a very successful career and finished a master's degree. So CLEARLY DR. WANG HAS SOMETHING AGAINST ADHD AND OCD...... It was SO insulting and frustrating for me to hear that I had tears in my eyes. This horrible woman took no notice. I have been taking the same medicine for a few years now. It works very well. I have tried a few medicines and this works. Dr. Wang wasn't for it. First of all, she said I drink too much..... I drink socially about 2-3 times a month. Not even every weekend. I could go without drinking too. Dr. Wang insisted that I get a drug test (???) and said I wasn't allowed to drink anymore. WTF? I don't even understand... she said I wasn't allowed to be her patient if I drank. Then she said I needed to take half of my dose of current ADHD medicine because it wasn't good to take (how can you just cut someone's dose in half like that..?) I asked her why and she basically said she doesn't think I need them and all my issues would go away if I stopped drinking alcohol (which doesn't make ANY sense because, as i said, I only drink about 2-3 times a month). THEN she prescribed me a medicine why I literally already told the social worker gave me a bad reaction. It was an anxiety medicine. I don't even need anxiety medicine, I haven't in years. The social worker told her this, and she decided to prescribe me a depression medicine. I told her I definitely do not feel depressed, and I didn't want this medication. I told her I have absolutely no history of depression. She THEN prescribes me bipolar medicine..... ummmmm...... what the actual ..... I looked it up and it's seizure medicine. Also, I am not bipolar, I've never been diagnosed by any doctor, I've never had anything to point in the direction that I could be bipolar. I just was so shocked that I shut up and never picked up the prescriptions. Dr. Wang also tried to push some weird Family Systems book on me to buy. She kept on talking about it.... why would I want to buy that? Seems sketchy to me. I emailed them immediately after to say I never wanted to be seen or contacted by this doctor. Oh by the way, their office is also terrible at communication. As I said, I have been seeing another psychiatrist for over 10 years. I moved so I could no longer see her. I told her about this, and Dr. Wang prescribing me all these random medications for things I don't have, and she was absolutely shocked. She, along with many others, insist I report Dr. Wang. I have seen Dr. Wang and her staff for over 3 years, typically on monthly basis. I have nothing but praise for the services she has been providing. Dr. Wang has helped me a lot with my continuing issues. What is also very important that she accepts major insurances which other doctors in this field often refuse to do. All in all, she keeps my issues at check as much as she can, and that includes depression, anxiety, PTSD etc. She constantly tunes my medications and without her help I would have been in much worse shape than I am right now. She has a very nice arrangement where i can communicate with he via telehealth appointment which was extremely important during COVID -- the calls from her office come in on time -- so there is no wait. She is very attentive and always listens to my concerns. She works together with another doctor who carefully documents any new developments from the last appointment. Then Dr. Wang confers with this Doctor, then Dr. Wang asks follow up questions --if she needs to clarify any details. She has a great memory and recalls everything that has been happening with me in the past. She is very timely in transmitting my meds to the pharmacy. I also see her Psychologist, Jennifer Brea, on weekly basis and she is also great - I have been working with Jennifer for the past several now. Jennifer is very attentive to my needs and very easy to schedule appointments. It is nice to have both a psychiatrist and psychologist working together in the same office. Her back office staff is also great - -they return phone calls and also try to be supportive of any problems that may arise. I have red some of the other reviews and frankly appalled at some reviews who gave Dr. Wang office a low rating -- this is definitely uncalled for. I reached 40 without ever thinking I needed therapy. However, faced with a personal and professional trauma I found myself in crisis. Dr. Wang responded fairly quickly to my needs and took several approaches I did not expect. We dove into counseling and psychotherapy via Zoom (due to COVID) but also acupuncture and massage therapy for my exhaustion due to extreme lack of sleep. I continue the acupuncture with Dr. Jin Lee in the office in Englewood, which I cannot recommend enough. After 3 months I was able to return to my job with confidence and continue the positive work with her team. They changed my son's diagnosys to Bipolar after 5 min. appointment, lied it was in his paperwork before, got angry when I confirmed with his previous doctor it was not his diagnosys. Told my 16 y.o. son he had anger issues when he was not too polite after waiting to see doctor for 3 hours (hello, he is sick child) and told him she is sorry his parents are so poor we have medicaid and that his mother is obnoxious. Gave us "care plan" telling me to take time of work and go enroll him in program right now, even though the program has 4 weeks wait list and we applied for it and our intake appointment is next week. Implementing I neglect my son's needs. As rude and unprofessional as it can be. PS. This office is also infamose for making patients sign paper, waiving their right to leave negative review and threatening to sue for negative reviews. As others have mentioned, you are REQUIRED to sign a form acknowledging that the office may sue you for a slanderous or libelous review. With that, I will try to keep my review to the facts. The receptionist at the desk is friendly, but I was told multiple times I owed a co-pay when I was previously told I did not. Once he asked for a co-pay higher than usual. On the first visit, you talk to a therapist, who is quiet pleasant, about the issues before meeting the doctor. Then, you talk to the scribe, who asks you same questions every session. Eventually, the Dr. Wang will come in. When I met Dr. Wang, her bedside manner was terrible. She said some assumptive and insensitive enough to make me cry. Within 15 minutes of the meeting she diagnosed me with depression and anxiety, and prescribed me medication, which she said "will make you feel better in 30 minutes!" For those of you who don't know, that's now how antidepressants work. Two weeks later, she added another medication, although I hadn't fully adjusted to the first medication. She would not listen to my input. Additionally, the scribe (I forget what they're called) rushes to give her a report when she walks in, which she ignores, and then asks a bunch of questions that they already answered, and the interrupts them more as they answer again. At one point, we switched my medication, which she kept me on for only 7 days before switching again. Horrible practice. She tended to not answer my questions or acknowledge my input. The wait time is variable, sometimes they are on time but once I waited 45 minutes. Would never recommend to anyone, and would strongly recommend people who go there to seek help elsewhere, as hard as that may be. read more

Unprofessional to request a copay for 10 minutes of speaking. then proceeded to yell at me that I did not appreciate her service. Later, when I received a TEXT MESSAGE from Dr. Wang to my personal cell phone from her personal cell phone- telling me that I was not welcome at her office any longer- I decided never to go to this clinic again. Very combative and rude. I'm not patient, the actual patient is a minor and I was just helping his mother to do the follow up because of scheduling issues. At a follow up appointment (my first time meeting dr Wang) I dared to suggest to receptionist not to charge my card immediately because after initial appointment there was confusion and questions regarding both diagnosis, medication and other steps on her instruction page she received. The mother tried to reach out over the phone, but was told to raise those on this appointment. I was told "Dr Wang does not accept patients without payment". I need to mention that mom has paid $350 for the first appointment. After another payment (obviously) and when Dr Wang called me into her room the first thing that happened (before I even said anything) I was called "disrespectful" and "not to ever challenge diagnosis again at the receptionist". The next thing she started questioning my degree (why?!) even though I'm not a patient and was not really "challenging diagnosis", haven't even said "hello". It went downhill from there. I must add that throughout the whole process I was trying to remain calm, and stayed respectful and non-conflicting because since I'm not direct patient's family, and I don't want to add to ongoing fire. Through the following short conversation she kept being rude and personally attacking me, the patient and his mom (even though she never met them). She never answered a single question thoroughly. Shortly, she said "the conversation is over" (yes, really), called the patient into her room, talked to him for less than five minutes. She came out, I tried to ask her some follow up questions, and she passed me without acknowledgement and avoiding eye contact. Afterwards, her assistant gave me an instructions page. Thankfully, I had a chance to briefly talk to the assistant. She was a lot more reasonable and answered the main question that we had, but still based on incorrect assumptions (I found out later). The new instruction page they gave me, besides "Case is closed and is hence deemed inactive", contained some, once again, impossible steps. E.g. to visit and sign up into a specialized school "today". While in reality the whole process takes multiple weeks and has already been started (and they were told this multiple times). I've only seen Dr. Wei Wang twice and it was horrible. She accused me of being an alcoholic because I had two small glasses of wine? Like really! Then I had a dyfs case on me because my in-laws hate me and then come to find out I am no longer a patient of hers without any reason or proper notification. She also rushed the visits and I felt like she doesn't take the the time out to understand me. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this doctor. read more

My other half was a patient of Dr. Wang's for a few years with moderate progress. Although she was treating him for one disorder she failed to ask or notice other issues and took him for his word that "all is fine". This past spring, as his looming anger issues heightened, I felt the need to contact her office to make her aware and suggest he may need anger mgmt. I also made him aware I contacted Dr. Wang for help. During his next outburst of enragement he too contacted her office without my knowledge, and must have left a not so nice voicemail. Clearly a sign of anger issues and call for help. Instead of contacting him to treat him immediately, she emailed us both accusing us of harassment and abruptly dropping him as a patient. Let me repeat, at the time her patient needed her the most, for something she may have overlooked, she terminates his consultations instead of stepping in and providing her professional care. I just had a tele-health appointment with Dr. Wang. I wasn't sure what to expect over the phone as I am used to seeing her in person. But she was just as wonderful on our phone call as she is in her office. I have really been struggling with the worry of this coronavirus and she was very sympathetic and patient with me as I explained to her my anxiety over it all. I have been to many therapists in the past. Most didn't really work, or care, to see me improve. I would cyclically get re-traumatized, dismissed, and broke after a while. I actually gave up on seeking help in general. But after a bit, I decided to walk into Dr. Wang's office one day. I didn't know who she was or what I was doing, but I decided to give mental health help one last shot. I went to my first appointment with fear in my thoughts and low expectations of what was to come. But after the dreadful idea of seeing yet another prescribing doctor passed, I noticed something leaving her office. Dr. Wang gave me professional care and attention that I have never received before. She is among the most knowledgeable, and inspiring, doctors I have ever worked with. Her work ethic was clearly demonstrated through her efforts to keep her staff engaged and clients in transparent communication. The process was comprehensible from the beginning, and everything required as a patient was in plain writing. She gave me references that no other doctor has given me - from books to activities that I never thought of doing. This office is genuinely about patient care and improving the individual - not the statistic. I am reading these reviews, and it is so disheartening to see the slandering, misleading comments about this woman and her practice. The rhetoric I am retaining from reading most of these remarks is the ineptitude to understand that Dr. Wang is NOT the person that can wave a wand and rid your problems. She is certainly not the doctor to just prescribe you away either. I am still an attending patient today and - with that being said - there is little to no evidence that can attest to the behaviors that are claimed on this site. Every doctor and counselor in that office is truly there to see you better as a person. When it comes to reviews of mental health facilities, people come here to project their own insecurity in getting better. Dr. Wang is a minority woman in position of authority, and it is certainly one of the most inspiring things I noticed walking back to my car that day. The key to my own success in becoming self-aware was my consistency with Dr. Wang and her staff - especially Jen!!! Dr. Wei wang has helped me over the years get my life together and maintain overall happiness in mental health. (Well, more specifically her amazing therapist on site) I left her office for multiple reasons: one being the constant increase in her rates every two years or so. ($150 per visit) The wait time in the office is also quite ridiculous. The fact that she's only located in Hoboken once a week is also a inconvenience. Although we talked every now and then I always felt it was robotic and always asking the same questions as before, always, (on rare times I did see her) she had a habit constantly picking on weight and picking on my body image. (Always uncomfortable) I stuck it out with her cause I genuinely hate starting over with a new doctor.... oh! God forbid you had a emergency and couldn't make your appointment. You are still charged the total payment and expected pay right away before setting a future appointment. Although she got the job done, I highly recommend going else where, I know for sure there in MUCH better. Good luck! read more

All of my interactions with Dr. Wang have been very positive! She really takes the time to listen, she is compassionate, and I feel very empowered every time I leave her office.
