There are not enough good things I could say about Dr. Buggie! I have been seeing Dr. Buggie for seven years consistently, this August. For the most part, I try to see him once a month, which sometimes stretches to once every two / three months depending on whether I start a new job or move to a new city. Needless to say, Dr. Buggie quickly became an integral part of my adult life and has been ever since. He has helped me through multiple changes in my life, providing support, advice, and therapy, as needed. I have gone through lots of changes since I started seeing him (being a student in NYC, becoming a working professional, moving cities, moving jobs, coming back to NYC). Dr. Buggie has always helped me through these very different occasions, whether that be relationship-oriented counsel, personal struggles and goals, career development or general life changes. I have found that there is a lot of value in sticking to one psychiatrist, particularly when you find one as good as he is. He is assertive but also supportive and understanding, very easy to talk to. Definitely not judgmental. I can vouch for how personalized his approach is. He is great at identifying ways to combat the issues I was going through at any given time. In my case, I wanted to avoid using medication as a quick fix and he was top-notch at helping me find the clarity and setting a path forward to work on my issues without it. Sometimes, medication is definitely necessary and Dr. Buggie provided me with a lot of information whenever that was the case for me (which gave me a lot of comfort) and he worked with me on a targeted schedule to use them effectively and be off them once ready. Overall, Dr. Buggie is a highly-professional psychiatrist but also a great all-around wise guy to just talk to. I would enthusiastically recommend him to anyone. read more

10/10. I highly recommend Dr Buggie. I have a complicated medical history (mental and physical) and the Dr was taking over my care from my UK psychiatrist. He is professional, thoughtful, kind and very genuine in terms of offering the best care and guidance to his patients. In addition to being fantastic during sessions the doctor always goes above and beyond to be flexible and accommodating for rescheduling appointments or for ensuring he can fit you in. Dr Buggie has also always ensured I have any letters I need (for example he referred me to the psychotherapist who I saw for my service dog) or medication I might need if I've run out or if I'm travelling etc etc. I also appreciate that he remembers things I may have said months ago and asks about my dog etc (having seen many medical professionals some doctors you always seem just you're just a file or just another patient - but Dr Buggie views you as a whole person and talks to you as one) - especially during the pandemic he has been great with virtual appointments, helping me find a medication delivery service and in our sessions offered general helpful advice and really asked how I am truly doing etc in addition to discussing my specific issues. I have seen many psychiatrists over the years and so I can safely say that Dr Buggie is one of the good ones! 100% would recommend and I've been a patient of his for almost two years now and will continue to be a patient whilst I am in New York! read more

Dr. Buggie is one of the best doctors with whom I have worked. He is compassionate, very knowledgeable over a wide range of topics, generous in sharing this knowledge (via conversation, text, links), a great listener and has an easy sense of humor. I started seeing him over four years ago for guidance in breaking my nine year xanax addiction. This was accomplished without any problems and I thought that would be the end of my sessions. However, i was so comfortable talking with him that I decided to continue in order to discuss various issues related to anxiety, troubling family relationships, problems at work -whatever happened to be on my mind. Perhaps most importantly, he helped me accept my new reality when I lost my mobility and went from a physically active walker and athlete to needing a wheelchair to simply get around. He was encouraging and tremendously supportive in helping me locate the best device for me even though I strongly resisted for a long period of time. By working with him, I have been able to gain renewed self-esteem and now have the ability to get around outside my apartment and to live a fuller life. I have always felt Dr. Buggie has my best interest at heart. I have a better understanding and acceptance of myself and always feel rejuvenated after one of our sessions. I found Dr. Buggie on ZocDoc and chose to see him because he has conveniently longer office hours than 90% of the mental health providers in NYC who charge the same or more for appointments that require taking time off from work. Now, as a regular patient, I've come to appreciate how understanding/accommodating Dr. Buggie can be to patients with unpredictable work schedules. More often than not, he has been willing to come in earlier or stay later to see me outside of regular hours. That's been possible because of how easy it is to communicate with him directly, instead of dealing with a rigid secretary or glitchy automated voicemail service. I feel reassured and respected when I get replies to my email or text inquiries from Dr. Buggie within an hour or so, even if just to say he'll get back to me when he's less busy. Its great that he makes our sessions feel like talking to a close, "tells it like it is" confidant, but even better that he goes above and beyond to make accessing mental healthcare such a stress free and convenient experience. I started treatment with Dr. Buggie at an emotionally challenging time in my life; when I was going through a difficult breakup and was transitioning professionally into a new phase of my life. I was fragile, vulnerable and didn't know the best way forward. Dr. Buggie was welcoming, supportive, understanding and validating from our first visit. He listened attentively when I needed to speak, and spoke up at the appropriate times, giving me insight and perspective that helped me regain my former sense of self, confidence and direction. He was also incredibly accommodating - he starts seeing patients early in the day and has appointments later in the evening, so I was always able to get in to see him when I felt like I needed to - when there was a mini crisis that I needed to process and digest and/or when I had something come up on my end and needed to reschedule. He would also reach out to me in between visits, to check in and make sure I was OK. This book would consist of many chapters, each revealing both the dark places where I have been and the light he has led me to see. I have been a patient of Dr. Buggie's for exactly a year now. In this time, he has worked very closely with me, tailoring my medications to fit my needs. I am so incredibly grateful that I found him. Before I started seeing him I was hospitalized 4 times in one year. I became pregnant a few months after starting with Dr. Buggie. He worked very hard to find a medication regimen that was compatible with pregnancy. I now have a healty newborn. I've been with Dr. Buggie for a year due to my anxiety and panic attacks. His explanations and analogies helped me look at my condition differently. He talks in calming voice, and draws logical perspective at a situation, not just a pat on the back. We also had a good laugh once in a while. To sum up, my anxiety, feeling of derealization, racing thoughts, panic attacks are gone or suppressed to an extended where only faded memories remained. An uncaring, amateur psychiatrist. I saw him a year ago and found him to be ok, neither great nor bad but good enough. After a few months things were fine and I felt like I didn't need to see him again. A year later and I was struggling with some major things and I reached out to set up a session and was told that he was busy and not accepting new patients despite numerous time slots available on his website and well being a patient.
