My favorite Wegmans..mainly because its the closest and there are very few people here at certain times of day. I did notice when I was checking out that a woman was making sure people didn't have to wait long by directing them to other lines that were less long. Even carried some guys beer for him. That's pretty awesome and great customer service. I will agree the bakery is lacking compared to Pittsford. This wegmans had some stuff pittsford doesnt have and vice versa . I would make a strong case that this is one of the nicest Wegmans in the Rochester area. It's pretty much a slightly less awesome Pittsford Wegmans with about 1/3rd of the people (which is really appreciated, since I can actually find a parking spot). Always great selection of fresh fruit/vegetables, bakery is typically great and the meat and fish selection are nice. Way better than the (very close) one on Hylan (which is probably the most pathetic Wegmans there is), and that one on Hylan also has terrible parking. Anytime that I go to the Calkins Road Wegmans its wide open, can usually get a really close spot, and the store is practically all my own. Also, the cafe is huge and makes a great study spot, even at the lunch rush there is plenty of space. read more

Oh God Wegmans... yes, yes, yes, yes yes. YES. To call this place a grocery store would be so déclassé. I have never been so excited about a neighborhood grocery store in my life. It's amazing. It's like a million specialty stores under one roof. Butcher quality meat, farmstand quality produce, tons of prepared foods - it's like several different restaurants in one place. (Chinese, sandwich shop, seafood, salad bar, etc.) There are seating areas, an incredible bakery and the sandwiches are unreal. It's much larger than a regular grocery store. It's like an entire strip mall full of foodie fabulousness. Microbrews, good cheese, freaking waffle irons and aprons... you could spend 20 minutes and $30 in there and come out with an awesome dish for a party complete with plate and garnish. To top it all off, the employees all seemed happy to be there. I cannot WAIT until they open the one they are building in Columbia MD. I am ready to sleep outside in a tent until they open, just so I can be the first one to wander through the store all glassy-eyed with my sandwich while poking their impossibly soft brie wedges. Living in Rochester, there isn't an area I can't find that doesn't have a Wegmans. I wouldn't say that that is a bad thing, but nevertheless, I quite enjoy it. This isn't my favorite branch of Wegmans to visit but if I'm down here every once in a while, I don't hesitate to stop in. Size, it's roomy, not vast and large but not tiny and modest. Aisles are easy to navigate in and out of and they have a great selection of produce. The baked goods are limited compared to the other Wegmans in the area which was enough for my veins to boil. However, it's a Wegmans....with it's great prices and good service, it's always a nice place too return to. read more

If you live in Rochester you know wegmans is king, however this wegmans goes above and beyond. Yeah the wegmans in pittsford is larger and has a more decorative restaurant but calkins is way more personal and friendly. Its always a danger being trans in public but calkins is super protective and saved my life a couple of times. When some people tried to start fights with me for daring to exist. wegmans was there to neutralise the situation before it could escalate and were discrete about it. Everyone working there is super polite and friendly. If you are LGBT+ I would recommend wegmans and calkins wegmans especially. I would bring my wife and daughter there any day. read more

One stop shop! Literally has everything you can think of at great prices. Amazing prepared food items too. I rarely go go grocery stores for actual meals but I'll make an exception for Wegmans. They also have inca cola here and I could not find that delicious Peruvian coca cola anywhere in the US besides Atlanta. Friendly staff and super clean grocery store too! read more

I don't like to write bad reviews for places, especially somewhere as large as wegmans where my issue is only really related to a single department among other good ones. Regardless, I want to bring up an issue of labeling that ended up being pretty dangerous. The other night I went to wegmans after work late at night. Around 10:30pm because it was the only time I could squeeze in. I went to the Calkins wegmans, my normal store, and this time noticed breaded mushroom bites in the produce section. I took a quick look at the list of allergens because I'm vegan and therefore avoid eggs and dairy products. Mind you I was pretty tired at this point of the night and wasn't checking as thoroughly as I usually do. Had I looked closer I would have seen that the label was for their mushroom blend, which is not breaded, and therefore there were no allergens listed. This wouldn't have been much of a problem. I'm not allergic to eggs or dairy, which the breaded mushrooms did contain, but I must have undercooked them or something because I definitely got very bad food poisoning after eating them. I understand mistakes happen, but my roommate is deathly allergic to eggs and milk and had he been home when I cooked them, probably would have eaten them too. I'm just saying that if the correct label was on the mushrooms, I would have put them back immediately and none of this would have happened. To wegmans, please be more diligent about labeling your in store brands! This is not the first time I've noticed mislabeled products. To customers with allergies or dietary restrictions, be extra careful when checking ingredients as this can happen frequently. I do still like this wegmans for their selection of vegan products and otherwise good service, but food safety is a really big deal that should not be skimmed over. read more

This is the best Wegmans. I'll keep it short because it's WEGMANS an if you're from Rochester, you should obviously be familiar... But this location has CHILDCARE. Your potty-trained, sock-wearing kids can go play for an hour while you shop... or maybe get a cup of coffee. You're given a buzzer that will go off when you need to pick them up. I lived near several Wegmans and the Calkins Wegmans is in my top three favorites, along with the Pittsford one and the East ave one. It's welcoming, organized, good food, friendly staff and a good crowd of people. There is also a lot of sampling available during the weekends which is always nice to try new things. read more

Gorgeous. Freakin' Gorgeous. I could literally live there. I'm not from this area originally and I'm not as bat poop crazy about Wegmanses as most people around here. You say something about them that's less than nice and you get a *GASP* of indignation from whoever you are talking to. Come on. I never thought I'd be writing a review about a supermarket, but then Wegmans is no ordinary supermarket. Every single time I go upstate we make a few trips to Wegmans. We come home with barbecue sauce, Dijon mustard, donuts, bread, rolls, coffee, red and white hots. All, except the dogs, are Wegmans own brand and better than any name brand I've ever tasted. And the Marketplace here is great. The breafast sandwiches, coffee, subs and pizza are awesome!!!! The staff are absolutely wonderful, friendly and helpful. I only wish they had a hotel so I could stay here when visiting family:-) I used to think they had wonderful supermarkets down south, but then I died and went to Wegmans!!!!! read more

This is my happy place. I lived in Rochester for 15 years, grew up loving Wegmans, then moved south... sad time. I schedule trips to the grocery store into my rushed weekends back up north, and make sure to get bagels, an apple fritter, buffalo chicken pizza, and the Asian bar. Whole Foods doesn't stand a chance in Rochester as this Wegmans is hands down the best grocery store in the US. The Market Cafe abounds with choices, most of which are superior to other grocery store's offerings. Salmon available at the salad bar - lots of sushi choices at reasonable prices - easy take home reheat meals. I've never been to a supermarket that has a live four piece band and dancing during dinner in the store like this Wegman's did. read more
