My husband went to Wegmans on his lunch break at 7:45 PM to grab a sub. He waited patiently in line for about 15 minutes, and when it was finally his turn, the employee told him she wasn't taking any more orders. She had seen him standing there the whole time, yet never communicated that she was closing the line. If she had simply let him know earlier, he wouldn't have wasted his time. It was extremely frustrating for him to leave without a meal, especially since he only had a limited break. It's disappointing that the employee couldn't either take a moment to let him know or just finish his order since he was the last person in line. I would like to preface this with; i have had some rough experiences from customer service in plenty of businesses, and grocery stores. However, i have to say, i came here on a busy day before the holidays, had to ask several staff different questions, and each and every single one was much more than willing to help. and with smiles, and truly genuine. due to the holidays and advance notices for custom cakes, i was unable to get the cake i specifically wanted, however the staff was also more than apologetic for the inconvenience, and kindly pointed me to getting a pre-made sheet cake and having words placed on it. truly a wonderful staff who all puts in that extra effort to make customers feel welcome! read more

I got two subs from Wegmans today. A large Danny's favorite and a medium tuna. First the price now is very high for what you get. The Danny's favorite was mostly lettuce,with hardy any meat and mayo on only one side of the roll. For $14.99 it should have more than a thin layer of meat and mayo on both t of the roll. A Danny's favorite used to be loaded with meat and there was mayo on both sides of the roll. The medium tuna sub only had mayo on one side of the roll also. The tuna sub was $8.99 for a medium. It's sad that Wegmans has gotten so cheap when it comes to making subs. I seriously doubt I will get any more subs from Wegmans. They used to be the best subs around. Now, not even close. read more

One thing that sticks in my mind about this shop is the astounding range of packaged snacks and meals unlike anything I'd seen anywhere, and despite our high expectations, the curry chicken salad and penne/tomato/mozzarella salad from the deli actually surpassed our expectations! A familiar store setup as with other Wegmans, but the whole deli and dining corner of the store had this palpable buzz that was exciting. The curry chicken salad was as good as expected, but the penne salad had a velvety olive oil vinegarette dressing and the cherry tomatoes were just perfectly ripe and firm. read more

This wasn't the best Wegmans Market Cafe I've experienced. Disappointing to find there wasn't much for options on a Sunday afternoon... basically make your own salads, sushi, or soup. But the dining area was clean(ish). The Cafe in Johnson City puts this one to shame and that was my frame of reference. My Sushi was still awesome! I love all Wegmans stores equally but the Elmira store is particularly bright and shiny in my opinion because now they've got SUSHI!! Yes, that's right my friends, I dare say that Wegmans is THE place for sushi in Elmira. It's fresh, delicious & most importantly cheap! Many of the rolls have either a white rice or brown rice option which is great. They also carry interesting sides like summer rolls, seaweed salad, potstickers and edamame salad. Couple that with a bottle of Wegmans' brand lychee green tea and you've got an awesome lunch option for under $10! Oh yeah and they sell groceries too! read more

Why are there very few if any benchs in the store that would provide seating for the older customers at different locations in the store. Currently my wife who is in her mid 70s must walk all the way back to the restaurant area at least three times during her shopping in order to rest a bit. It doesn't work to have some other designated people to do the shopping f or us because they always make errors in selecting our items. This was especially true when we had our food delivered to our home. I realize space utilization is important in your store, but shoppers are too. We spend $600 to $900 a month in your store and deserve better. read more

I love everything about this Wegmans, but my favorite thing is that there are always plenty of cashiers on duty. You never have to wait more than a couple of minutes to check out. Went for lunch. Worst customer service experience ever. Cashiers name was Heather and she couldn't have been more rude! Slammed her fists on the counter when my friend and I weren't getting to her line fast enough to cash out and then when we were in line to get fountain sodas I noticed the machine was out of ice so I went and told her and she responded with "yeah I know this, and no one can fix it." How sad it is to say that Wegman's Market Cafe is the single quality coffee and snack bar in Elmira? Sad. If you can set aside the sometimes loud and disturbing noises of a grocery store, the Market Cafe has an excellent ambiance, plenty of seating, and an abundance of condiments readily available. The best part is that you have the entire store from which to choose a snack, a lunch, or a dinner. However, right there in the Market are reasonably-priced and really well-prepared subs, a variety of coffee drinks to rival Starbuck's overpriced products, three food bars plus a Sushi Bar. I wouldn't call the food bars cheap, or even moderately priced, but they do offer a wide choice. The one major setback of all this loveliness is a grossly understaffed coffee and sub bar. For some reason Wegman's management can't seem to get enough people to man those stations. read more
