My experience with this practice has been extremely disappointing…read more I initially saw Monique Lee in urgent care following a work-related dog bite injury to my hand. At the time, I was experiencing increasing swelling, pain, and concerns about the condition of my wound. During that visit, I had to specifically ask about removing the sutures so the wound could drain. I left the visit without being referred to the emergency room despite expressing concerns about the worsening condition of my hand. Later that same day, I presented to the emergency room because my condition continued to worsen. I was ultimately admitted to the hospital for about a week, underwent two hand surgeries, and was treated for a severe bacterial infection. Following my hospitalization, I required approximately 28 days of IV ertapenem therapy through a PICC line. Given the severity of the infection and the extensive treatment that followed, I believe the seriousness of my condition was underestimated during my urgent care visit. My most recent experience was equally frustrating. I arrived for my scheduled annual primary care appointment with Dr. Shandal Emanuel and was informed that I would not be seen due to an outstanding balance related to my workers' compensation claim. The balance remains unresolved because of an ongoing workers' compensation billing issue. I have been instructed by the workers' compensation carrier not to pay anything out of pocket while the matter is being reviewed, yet I have not been provided clear guidance on how to resolve the bill or confirmation that I would be reimbursed if I paid it myself. Despite explaining this situation, I was turned away from my appointment and denied routine medical care. During my conversation with the office staff, I was told that the doctor would not receive payment unless I paid the bill myself. While I understand the office's desire to be paid, I do not believe it is appropriate to place that responsibility on a patient who is actively involved in an unresolved workers' compensation claim and has been instructed not to pay out of pocket. I understand medical offices have billing policies. However, turning away an established patient over a disputed workers' compensation balance while providing no clear path toward resolution is unacceptable. Between my experience with urgent care, a hospitalization that included two surgeries and nearly a month of IV antibiotics, and being denied a scheduled annual appointment over an unresolved workers' compensation bill, I have lost confidence in this practice and will be seeking care elsewhere.

The receptionist one the other hand is rude, unprofessional, and not knowledgeable with insurance. During my 4 week appointment, she told me that it was perfectly fine my insurance was still processing and they had no problems with it but for the 8 week appointment she pretty much called me a liar that it was still processing and stated that all the other moms have there's established by 4 weeks. Btw, this appointment was already 2 weeks late because they didn't have availability. I'm military and called my VA coordinator who explained that it was the receptionist that was the liar and ChampVA does take more time. Even more frustrating my newborn was supposed to get vaccines and if I didn't pay upfront he couldn't receive them. When I told her no she said to call back when I have insurance. Fair enough except she could've told me that a month ago so I could've had his immunizations done for FREE at the health dept instead of waiting 2 weeks longer than I should to be seen here. She didn't even refer me there, she wasn't concerned at all. She kept saying I'm sorry you're having such a hard time but SHE was the only one giving me a hard time. And it's embarrassing to be talking loudly about this across the entire waiting room, which she was, no privacy, no respect. She called someone, maybe a supervisor, and seemingly mocked me over the phone. Whoever this person was didn't even speak to me so for all I know she was talking to herself. You would think in a professional establishment, a supervisor was speak to you personally. This is an important for the health of my son, I'm not trying to return a pair of shoes! The military pays medical claims for disabled vets hand over fists. I know because I've watched them do it for Washington and Greenville ob/gyn my entire pregnancy. I'll happily take that money to an establishment where when they say they support our military, they actually do it. I brought my…read morechild in with my husband, and when we were called back, we were told that only one parent could accompany our child. At the same time, another couple was allowed to go back together. I brought this to the doctor's attention, explaining that my husband should have been allowed to come too, especially since he was paying for this expensive visit. The doctor dismissed my concerns, saying, 'Well, they're not supposed to do that,' without any further acknowledgment. I ended up switching places with my husband so he could be with our son. Normally, I manage appointments with all three of my children alone, but now it felt like a problem with just one child and my husband. This inconsistency made me feel like we were treated differently, and it left me questioning if it was due to racial bias. To make matters worse, I later found out 15 minutes into the appointment that I and my husband actually were allowed to be with my child from the beginning. We were lied to. Another assistant walked me back to my child WITH MY HUSBAND after she saw what was being done to my husband and I and she helped get us both to our child! There were no apologies or recognition of the earlier mistake, which left me furious. I will not return to this practice again. Additionally, I've noticed that if you correct them on your child's name pronunciation, their follow-up response can be a bit snappy. Overall, I'm very disappointed. Greedy, overpriced and apparantly racist. I never had issues with them until the first and last time my husband came with me.
