I have lived at Willow Court Apartments for about two years now, and will be moving on at the end…read moreof the month. As someone who doesn't have a car, Willow Court is a little out of the way and a bit of a pain in terms of grocery shopping. That said, here are some things that have stood out to me during my residence:
Nobody currently working at Willow Court apartments has really spoken with me in passing. I don't really feel one way or another about this, because I definitely keep to myself and don't actively involve myself in community events or anything like that. That said, this became very noticeable after the last person at the leasing office, Bethany, left.
This brings me to the best part of my experience at Willow Court. Bethany was extremely friendly and professional. In fact, I have never dealt with someone at an apartment complex who better exemplifies those two traits. Every maintenance request or offhand comment I made to her was addressed immediately. In Fall 2016, I lost my luggage while in Armenia, and called her to see what to do about getting back into my apartment. She immediately supplied me with a new key, and coordinated with me so that my apartment would stay locked until I arrived back home. The person who took over her position did so in the last month or two, so I haven't really dealt with him too much.
The units themselves are nice. Great space for great prices. I couldn't believe how little my unit cost, factoring in the proximity to Downtown and the space it has. I believe my unit is 720 square feet, and I paid $1225/month in 2016. Unfortunately, this has increased to $1325 within 24 months. The rest of the notable points I have to make aren't really the staff's fault, but they should still be mentioned.
My unit gets HOT! It is on the second floor (which is actually level with the parking lot), and south-facing. Yesterday, May 13th, it got up to 80 degrees in my unit with no heater on, windows open, and two fans going.
Also, if you live near the entrance or level with the parking lot, expect lots and lots of noise. Children screaming, cars revving their engines, and people shouting/laughing/etc between the hours of 12AM-7AM is extremely common. I have not gotten a good night's sleep in months. Just one of the downsides of living in my unit.
The other tenants are very hit or miss. I have met a couple, in passing, who were very friendly. I have also had some less pleasant experiences, though. One day, there were children screaming in the laundry room (right below my unit) for at least 5-10 minutes straight. I went downstairs to ask their father if they could keep it down just a bit (and I mean, who wants to meet their neighbor like that?). Instead of just apologizing, the guy started making excuses, that he "didn't know someone was above them" and "have never had any complaints before". Nobody likes to be embarrassed by a noise complaint, but come on.
In summary, Willow Court is not a bad choice of apartment. The complaints I have are mainly 1) Due to my unit's location and 2) Due to the general lack of self-awareness you will find in people anywhere you go.
