The bumper cars were actually pretty fun despite the small area. The laser tag course was pretty big and they tell you who "won" at the end. Tip: You win by having the most hits, not by not getting hit.

I played my first game of the season at the Mystic Ridge course (end of March). The greens are smooth, there's shorter grass on the rough, though I can't comment on how well maintained it will be later in the season. There's putting area to practice but didn't recall there being a chipping area which is too bad. The course is efficient and straightforward, just what you expect for an executive course. I like this course because there aren't many narrow fairways or plant growth areas where I can lose a ball. I'm a beginner, and I felt confident enough to allow myself to pull out my big boy driver twice to practice on the course. The hazards aren't too challenging - few ponds here or there, but mostly off to the side and not an obstacle where you have to manage your stroke distance. The retired couple we played with is friendly and patient. They could push their golf carts at ease and are very active while I'm slowly losing steam with my back aching towards the end. This is admirable but also reminding me I need to keep fit. Oh boy.

The greens and course are in pretty good shape. A little bit more work and a couple of well placed bunkers could make this elite level. But it's already hard enough to book a tee time here, so any major upgrades will most likely not happen any time soon. The potential of this site could easily make this a top notch club in the GTA. I've heard they've mostly cut back on the restaurant and banquet facilities.

We missed our tee time but we joined a nice couple and played with them. Great way to practice and get a short game in. It's okay, not too challenging and kind of basic with not too many hazards and wasn't super interesting. I think that's the purpose just to get a quick practice. There are a couple of bigger courses here that my partner has played on and he said it was great. He would give the club 5 stars based on the bigger courses and facilities, but I'll give it 4 since I've only tried the academy course and it was just okay. The facilities are nice. For members, you can use the driving range and push carts for "free" well included in your membership rate. There's a locker room where you can take a shower, use their towels and get a stretch on and chill before your game. They also have a nice bistro with a lovely covered deck and live music on most Saturdays. Definitely wouldn't mind dining here if I'm in the area next time. I believe the bistro is for members only, but it looks like there is a non-member rate too.

I love affordable golf! To my surprise, it is a great beginner course. The fairways were well maintained. Unfortunately, the greens were hacked to bits, it could have been the fact that we were playing in September and it was late in the golf season. My only complaint is that the holes run parallel to each other and they were really close to each other. I found myself often playing while someone was trying to tee off in the neighbouring hole. This makes golf a very dangerous sport! They have a descent restaurant and nice golf shop. I wish I stayed to enjoy their patio. I will be visiting again during next year's golf season!

Note: This review has absolutely nothing to do with golf, BUT the walking/snowshoeing trail that…read morehas been repurposed out of the currently unused golf course. I believe one of the City's MPP's came up with the idea to repurpose the Lakeview Golf Course. Whomever did, it was a great idea! The course is less than 5 minutes south of Dixie Mall and the entrance is sorta hidden. If you're going south on Dixie, the driveway is on the right/west side. So keep your eyes peeled! There is parking on-site and the trail is marked. Don't just follow the paved paths because most of them end abruptly. Like most golf courses, they're open fields with some rolling hills. So it can get quite windy! Dress accordingly, including a hat/gloves. Trail is dog-friendly, but dogs must be leased...and of course, you hafta pick-up after your dog. Trail is 2km and without any snow and if you're a fast walker, it took about 30 minutes to complete. Trail is open from 10-4pm, mainly because it gets dark early now! It was fairly dead when I went, so no need to worry about social distancing.

Add to this that rounds here are always fast. We played in just under 4 hours. And the whole timing thing is even better since you don't have to drive for an hour each way. Sure the price has gone up a bit. I paid about $80 with a cart. And yes it is not a fancy and very long course. But I still highly recommend playing here for the great layout, convenience and fun that you get every time you play at Lakeview.
