We were stuck in limbo with our wedding planning, tossing ideas around but not really committing to anything. We had an idea of what we wanted, but no concept of how to make that idea into a reality. Any planning efforts we made left us feeling overwhelmed at amount of work and organization required to put together our wedding. We just didn't feel like we had the time and energy we needed to plan on our own on top of working and living our busy lives... Enter Joelle! We were totally blown away after our very first consultation meeting by how organized and professional she was, not to mention how bubbly and upbeat. She's been planning weddings for over 4 years, and has a thorough understanding of the wedding industry, and great connections and knowledge of local vendors and venues. It was a no-brainer to work with her and have her co-ordinate our wedding. We were lucky enough to have Joelle fully co-ordinate our wedding. Once we started working with her, it was like an immense weight was lifted from our shoulders. She had organized spreadsheets and timelines for every aspect of our wedding, and would regularly keep in touch with us via email about what was going on and what we needed to do. We were planning a destination wedding in the Rockies, but we liked working with a planner based in Edmonton where we lived. We were able to meet regularly in person, which really put our minds at ease because we knew we were on the same page and that Joelle had everything under control! In the last couple of weeks leading up to the wedding, Joelle had to remind us to breathe, sit back, relax, and trust that she was handling everything. Boy was she right! We were actually able to relax and spend time together during the last couple days before our wedding. When we arrived at our wedding destination, we got to enjoy greeting family and friends as they arrived, and had a lovely relaxing rehearsal dinner with close family. Both of us slept well the night before the wedding because we knew Joelle had everything covered and we didn't have anything to worry about except being present, living in the moment and enjoying marrying each other and the experience of our wedding day. Seeing Joelle on the day of our wedding was a sight to behold. She was totally in her element, and we could tell she thrives off of making sure everything stays on track and goes according to plan. She was super attentive to everything we needed during our day. Need a water break, bathroom break, your dress bustled, a makeup touch-up, or a mimosa? Joelle was always there to lend a helping hand and make sure we had everything we needed to enjoy the experience of getting married. Even little things like making sure nobody paddled off in our rental canoe, or shooing away wayward tourists who wandered into our wedding venue were handled with grace and professionalism. She wrangled our friends and family for all the family photos that we wanted, so that we had more time for couples' photos with our photographer. Our family and friends got along with her and thought she was great! Since our wedding, our families have told us they understand why we decided to get a wedding planner, and how wonderful and helpful Joelle was on our wedding day. As far as wedding planning goes, we would say that the whole process was about as painless as it could possibly be, and Joelle is the one responsible for that! One of the things we appreciated most was that Joelle really took the time to get to know us as a couple, and got an understanding of what our vision was for our wedding. I've found the staff to be very helpful here, if a bit overwhelmed. They're always really busy on weekends, so I try only to go on a weekday if I can help it. That way, I get full staff attention. I love that they have a table-making station where you can pair table linens with placemats, candle holders, and other festive decorations, and about a dozen or so tables are all dressed up for inspiration. For most items, you can rent the day before and return the day after, and almost anything about your order can be changed up until 48 hours before the event. That's very helpful for a bride with changing guest numbers!

I ended up doing the clean up after my wedding, in my wedding dress, even though it was part of my package, because Kerry and Julie were LONG gone. I spoke to Kerry on several occasions about my dissatifaction, but it made no difference. Rather then rise to the occasion they continue to drag their heels and were happy to let me do all the work...even though they assured me this wouldn't be the case. They were a total joke. I have been to another wedding, unfortunately, planned by them and it was a disaster, lots of rain and no rainy day plan. Wedding planning 101 totally lost on them. We hired them for the full package deal: wedding planning, décor, and day of coordinating. We did this because we had to move to another province for university in the fall of 2016 and decided planning a wedding would be less stressful with the help of a professional wedding service. We were wrong. Communicating with BOAB was like pulling teeth. I would send them an email and would get a response from a different person almost every time telling me they would get me said info soon...and then radio silence for weeks to days at a time. When we did get information from them about vendors it was always stuff that came up with a quick google search, something we could easily do on our own, or was information that was totally irrelevant to us. For example we asked them to help us find a suit for my wife. They sent us a link to a custom men's suit service. Last time I checked woman's suits are very different from men's and this was just one more thing we ended up doing on our own. When they provided us with vendor information they expected us to contact them for prices ect and sometimes vendors they recommended just would not respond. Basically it seemed like they would google the information we wanted, send us the results, and left us to do the rest. Ultimately, we could not trust them to do the job we paid them for and I ended up planning the entirety of the event anyway. There is a clause in their standard form contract stating any money paid to them they keep if you chose to not use them for any reason and you must pay them in full really far in advance. By the time we realized we were not getting what we had expected and wanted to stop using their service we had no choice but to continue; we thought we might as well use them for the day of coordinator and decor as it was paid for anyway. So, I planned the entire wedding and then set up family members and friends to pick up the pieces on the day of the wedding in case BOAB fell through as the coordinators. I am glad I did because so many things through the cracks that was supposed to be taken care of by them that my friends and family had to take care of instead. Additionally, I had guests complain to me about the behaviour of the coordinators stating they were rude to them during the day. I am still seething. As for the wedding ceremony: we had a rehearsal with our bridal party and BOAB the day before. They knew how our ceremony was supposed to be set up and failed to set up a table for us to sign the wedding license (this was discussed IN DETAIL the night before). We had our ceremony and when the time came to sign the registry there was no where for us to do this. Guests were confused, we were confused, and the coordinators were no where to be found. By time we flagged them down to help us several minutes had passed. By the time they got a table for us so we could continue with our ceremony guests had gotten up and were moving around/leaving/taking photos. This ruined the entire ceremony, the entire reason for having a wedding. I was and I am still LIVID about this and got a flimsy apology from one of the coordinators afterwards. I would never recommend BOAB to anyone. You can do this on your own and save yourself the stress. Edit: The company has commented all my reviews asking for people to contact her for her side of the story on this event. I find this particularly insulting as she hasn't even bothered to try talking to us.We did contact them with our dissatisfaction for their performance and this got us no where. Bottom line: they screwed up repeatably and ultimately ruined out wedding ceremony. While there may be two sides to every story I would think long and hard about using this company on your wedding day. It comes down to who you want to trust: MULTIPLE reviewers stating they had a bad experience with this company who stand to gain nothing from writing a review, or a company asking you to contact them for "their side" of a story who want you for your money. I would hate for anyone to go through what my partner and I did which is why I have reviewed them.
