Special Event Rentals is essentially the premiere place for all party rental paraphernalia in Edmonton. You need an aisle runner? They ask, "In what colour?" You need light-coloured table linens? They ask you, "Wheat damask? Gold damask? Or champagne?" You need a freaking tent? Oh, they've got every size of tent you could possibly imagine. I've found the staff to be very helpful here, if a bit overwhelmed. They're always really busy on weekends, so I try only to go on a weekday if I can help it. That way, I get full staff attention. I love that they have a table-making station where you can pair table linens with placemats, candle holders, and other festive decorations, and about a dozen or so tables are all dressed up for inspiration. For most items, you can rent the day before and return the day after, and almost anything about your order can be changed up until 48 hours before the event. As someone who organizes a lot of events for various organizations I volunteer with, I have to say this was the first time I used special event rentals. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous when it says delivery between 12-5 and at 4:30 still no delivery :) however, they showed up at 5 and began setting up immediately. There was a mix up between the diagram and what was on the quote, however they didn't leave me stranded.... instead, they went back and got the extra pieces that night! I went from sweating and wondering how the problem would be resolved to being soooo grateful they solved the problem. Mixup on the paperwork end... yes, however the delivery guys willingness to problem solve and fix the problem was AWESOME! For that alone I would book with them again. I have used these guys for hundreds of events, big and small and near impossible. They are very good at what they do. When I had to change the size and location of a tent install at the last minute, they were amazing, not cheap, but amazing. Over the years, I have come to understand their system, so know that the budget can get out of control, so the client has to be specific and clear on what they need, and limit last minute changes and add-ons. Also one should go over the bill very carefully. The nature of the business is that things get changed at the last minute or while an event is ongoing and the billing is not also accurate. But I have never had any trouble getting an adjustment, which is another reason I keep using them. read more

The experience was stress free, in text based communication so I could refer to it later as my short term memory sucks and I can't hear so well these days. Crazy big selection, extremely efficient and polite service, superb customer service (I must have changed my order 15 times before getting it right). Amazing to deal with! I dealt with Jennifer Leer. The major item we were renting was the margarita machine. Despite her warning me and telling me how big it was and what was required to transport it, I thought we could do it ourselves. So, when we couldn't, they went WAY out of their way to help us. (even on grey cup weekend). She was so good to me and helpful every time I called and wanted to add on another item to rent. Amazing and would highly recommend this company!! read more

Special event rentals accidentally refunded us too much money when we went in to get some of the money they owed us after our wedding. They called us and informed us, and we said we would return their money. Then every day after that they called AND emailed me to remind me. At one point they called me 3 times in one day. And it was less than a week since they told us about their mistake. My husband went in to give them their money back today. It's been a week since we first spoke with them and have received about 8 phone calls and 4 emails. They must really have needed their money back!!!! read more
