It's been almost a year now since Vijay captured my special day. This review is way over due! As I glance over and over at the photos he shot during my wedding (which I do at least once a month LOL), I am at awe on how beautiful they are and how beautiful everyone looks! We found Vijay on craigslist at random as I was about to give up on finding a reputable photographer. The moment we sat down with him, his outgoing personality and upbeat tone made us feel very comfortable and we hired him on the spot! His skills to capture personal moments are a big plus! Vijay did a phenomenal job and our wedding photos are very colorful and very candid which was what we wanted. I highly recommend Vijay to anyone looking for a more intimate, natural and personal photos. read more

Amazing photography! Vijay is a talented photographer with extra ordinary photo capturing skills! We had few photo shoots with him in the past. The clarity of pictures was so good that our pictures got featured in the magazine! His pleasant personality made our shoot so smooth! His assistant Miss R was wonderful during the entire shoot. He is very professional and punctual. I have worked with so many photographers around and never had such a wonderful experience with the shoot and the pictures! I would highly recommend Vijay to all the future brides and the grooms! Recently I attended a wedding where he was busy in capturing all those wonderful pictures with bride, groom and bridesmaids! The way he made everybody feel comfortable, it was amazing! All those pictures were stunning! Thanks Vijay! read more

Wedding Documentary - Amazing Capture! Loved Vijay's idea of this picture! - Videographers Near Me

Vijay and his team were a dream to work with during my mehendi/Sangeet. The precision, attention to detail, willingness to work with all of the elements of that day from families and friends wanting professional photos, etc they were so patient and kind and really took pride in what they were doing. I cannot wait to see the final outcome but based on a few sneak peaks, I know they will be exceptional. Thank you to Vijay and his team for their enthusiasm and passion. read more

Let me start by saying that Vijay is unprofessional and the biggest scam artist I've ever encountered. The only way he can have business is to hold your money hostage. He promptly collected me money and when the wedding was at the venue was cancelled he refused to do AN OUTDOOR PHOTO SHOOT WITH 5 PEOPLE. All he was interested in was to collect the money and never intended to provide any services. Where was the harm in shooting a few pics outdoor? Be warned he is a fraud and runs a scam operation read more

Oh that's one really BAD shot, says noone ever when you hire Vijay and his shooters, because really they never take a BAD shot. When I first met Vijay at my sister's wedding event --- I thought to myself he's very fun, easy and most of all knows what he's doing. This guy and his team take it to a level where no other photographer goes. It's almost like they know exactly what we want to catch onto those prints and film --- or be tagged in on facebook! When we see the photos and video that Vijay captured -- we were just in awe at what moments were caught, without being aware of them during the actual moment they were taken. They made us laugh, they made us cry. And those are the special memories you want to see in your wedding or any other events. The precious candid BUT extremely tasteful moments that you failed to focus on your busiest most important day. In addition, the quality of the prints + albums + dvds is unmatched. If you want to LOVE your wedding pictures and videos. And deal with a professional and super cool photographer. Contact Wedding Documentary now! read more

I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes as I write this review (not kidding). I finally finished watching the wedding video(s) that Vijay produced for my brother's 3 day Indian/Chinese/Malaysian wedding extravaganza and I am blown away by the quality of the product and all of the wonderful memories that he captured so beautifully on video... so many important moments that a lot of us missed because we were so busy behind the scenes, and as I relive this happy time, I am very grateful that we hired Vijay. My mother was pretty insistent that we find an Indian videographer who had experience filming Hindu weddings. Since I am a filmmaker, my brother asked me to step in and find someone with talent to avoid the hack from Fremont that my mother was eyeing. I found Vijay, the perfect blend of culture and talent. Though we never met in person until that weekend, he handled our phone and email conversations professionally. He and his assistants were non-intrusive and flies on the wall, but managed to get really great HD footage, and Vijay applied his master color correction skills to produce a stunning 3 hour final video and two short highlights videos. The colors are vibrant, the smiles are contagious, the dresses are sparkly, the love between my brother and my sister-in-law is genuine and everything comes together seamlessly in Vijay's editing. When it comes to weddings I'm not a big fan of spending a ton of money on one day, or one weekend, but this is one area that I wouldn't hesitate to invest in. Vijay is worth every penny. read more

We've been watching Wedding Documentary since a couple of our friends' weddings and definitely wanted to be our photographers and videographers for our wedding :) We did an engagement photoshoot with them, and very impressed by them! They photographed our wedding and reception, and we love our pictures. They were flexible, punctual and did an awesome job! The highlights video was the best, definitely covered all the events we had. Despite the priests literally covering most of the wedding ceremony by getting in the middle (I was so annoyed during the wedding), they worked around them and produced amazing pictures! They also gave us our pictures within 2 weeks, which we did not expect at all! Would definitely recommend them to everyone! read more

We chose Vijay as the photographer for our wedding and boy are we glad we did that. His photography is absolutely great and he has captured fantastic pictures of our event and us. We have been equally impressed with his professionalism. He is very responsive and communicates pro-actively before the event, and is punctual during the event itself. Add to these his pleasant and energetic demeanor- you have got a great photographer for your special day! read more

We had Wedding Documentary do our engagement photos. I spent a lot of time looking online for a photographer, and I was really impressed by their site. The photographer, Vijay made the whole process painless. I'm not much for having photos taken of me, but he did a great job of making the shoot relaxed and fun. He took a good mix of candid and posed shots. The photos turned out spectacular, and I can't wait for him to shoot the wedding! read more

Vijay was very responsive over the email and phone. He is straight forward with his pose directions which helped us a lot. He made us feel comfortable in-front of the camera. He had some very cool ideas for our photoshoot before the ceremony. He is very efficient at getting a lot of guests photos with bride and groom in very short time. Quality of pictures was impressive. Our family members loved the pictures! read more

We selected Vijay to do our wedding photos and we were more than impressed! We had a destination wedding in wine country (at the time of our wedding we resided in southern CA), so I felt a bit overwhelemed researching photography services online and I was also nervous about selecting a photographer without having the opportunity to meet them first - for the most important day of my life! Vijay's site was very impressive, his photos were candid and creative - exactly what I was looking for. He exceeded our expectations the day of the wedding. He showed up earlier than scheduled to get a feel of the wedding site and by the time we started taking pictures he already had several ideas. Parents, family, and friends were all commenting on his talent and his ability to work with everyone. We now have hundreds of beautiful pictures that we'll cherish forever. Thanks Vijay!!! read more

I was the Maid of Honor at one of my best friends' weddings last month and it was great! I was referred to Vijay from a co-worker who strongly recommended him. I can see why! From the beginning he was professional, prompt and easy to work with. He did everything possible to make her day (and mine because my friend, the bride, was a tad bit dramatic) as easy as possible. The quality of the shots were impeccable! We looked amazing!! He took very natural shots, as well. He has such an imagination with his photos! He was reasonable in price and actually, the quality of work was way above average! If you are looking for a top notch photographer that delivers every time, on time.....Vijay's your guy! I strongly recommend his services. read more

Vijay photographed my wedding on June 20 and did an amazing job. He made me and my husband feel comfortable during the shoot, specially considering that I am not a fan of taking pictures...at all. The end products were stunning and will be cherished forever. He is professional, responsive to calls/emails, and is very well prepared. If I had to do it again, I would hire Vijay in a heartbeat :-) He is flexible in working with you to create a custom package for your photo/video needs. Oh yes, and he works well with multicultural couples (I am a proud Salvadorian and my husband is Punjabi). Highly recommend him! read more

Vijay Rakhra is an amazing photographer and gave us more in our wedding photography than we could have ever imagined. Everyone who has seen our wedding photos has commented excitedly and honestly about how beautiful they are. Wedding Documentary - Videographers Near Me

I met Vijay a few years back at a Wedding that we both worked on. I was amazed by his professionalism and even more impressed by the pictures I received back of the Bride I had done makeup for. The pictures were simply amazing and I was proud to post them on my website. Because of this I hired him to do a portrait of myself for my website and was once again blown away at how he was able to capture me. I have never looked better in a photo and I know it is because Vijay knows just what lighting to use and how to place you so he is getting the best shot. If you are looking for a quality photographer and/or videographer look no furhter than Wedding Documentary. You will not be dissapointed. read more

Vijay's photography is top knotch. Its the most beautiful that photography possibly can be. He is also very professional. He's on time, organized, and he was very good at not disturbing my wedding while still capturing every moment of it. I highly recommend working with Vijay. read more

My wedding photos were so fabulous I was able to sell the professionally printed wedding book as a family keepsake. The artistry is superior and the incredibly upbeat attitude of Vijay ensures all angles and potential photo opportunities result in a great shot. His work allows a true capturing of the spirit of each memorable moment, which enables a gorgeous visual recount of the experience. A photobook of this caliber brings me back to the happiest day of my life every time. I am so thankful I had a photographer that satisfied beyond all expectations, because the photobook is such a treasure, and the collection of photos are just classic. He even took photos of other family's families, which were later used for the holiday card mailouts. His work is clearly professional and very sought after. I recommend him for wedding photography. Also, Vijay caught my daughter's green eyes, and he had her glowing with smiles at just 4 months old. I imagine the photos will only get better as I intend to continue working with him as she grows up. read more

Vijay and his team are amazing. I can't recommend them highly enough. Friendly and Professional We hired him for our wedding in December 2010. We were having a destination wedding in San Francisco so most of our communication was done over email and phone. Vijay was always very prompt to respond. He also turned around our pictures and videos very quickly. (In fact, he had to follow up with us to get back to him with our edits! Not the other way around!) Finally, he was always very friendly, genuine, and just a real pleasure to work with. I felt that he really cared about doing a good job. Incredible Work Product And he did do a great job. Our wedding highlight video is better than I could have ever imagined and everyone who sees it just loves it. It makes me happy every time I see it. He picked out great pictures for our album (which was really helpful to us -- we wouldn't have known where to begin!) and patiently worked with us to make the edits we wanted. Vijay has an incredible artistic eye, but also he doesn't forget to capture the substance! It's really the best of everything. I absolutely love our pictures and video and I am so thankful to Vijay and his team for so beautifully capturing our special day. Thank you, Vijay!! read more

We are so glad that we chose Vijay Rakhra's Wedding Documentary team to provide photography and videography for our wedding! We had an eclectic wedding that was mostly Indian-style, and because he has done so many Indian-style weddings, he knew exactly what to do. His team was engaging and experienced (thanks Hok, Kayvan, Jay, Jermel, and Jin!): they got a ton of great photos and videos, and one guest even remarked "Man, they are everywhere!" (in a good way!). They gave us some good ideas for where to stand and how to pose, and when we look at the photos and videos now, tears come to our eyes because of how beautiful everything is. 5 stars! read more

When looking for a photographer, the most important thing to me was to find a photographer who truly captured the emotion of joy, laughter, and love. That is exactly what we got from Vijay's beautiful pictures! Vijay is such a genuine person who absolutely adores his job! Vijay, you are truly the best! I also want to mention how much of a pleasure it was to work with Rashmi. She is always very pleasant and sweet. I was truly blown away when I saw our pre-wedding pictures, they are absolutely perfect! If you're reading this review wondering if you should book them, stop, and go book them, like now! You won't regret it :) read more

I cannot say enough about the quality of Vijays work! He and his team were very professional and artistic. We call him a ninja because he was able to capture every moment for us without it ever feeling like he was in the way. He was very stealthy and even has his own drone! We used his videography as well, and I'm so glad we did because the wedding highlights video turned out amazing. Some of our friends actually teared up when they watched it! It was really great to work with him. He's a very kind, down to earth person and easily accessible. He is quick to respond to emails/calls and he stayed in touch with us throughout the process, even after the wedding was over. We definitely highly recommend him! read more

Absolutely amazing photographers and videographers!!! We had Vijay for our engagement photoshoot as well as our wedding, and everything was so artfully and beautifully captured. The Wedding Documentary produces such high quality photographs and videos and it is absolutely worth every penny. Photos and videos are the most important things you can invest in for your wedding because they are the only things that last after the day is over, and often on the day it is too hectic to be able to take everything in. We were so so pleased by everything The Wedding Documentary did for us - the photos were stellar and of such high quality, and the videos are outstanding (both the highlights reel and even the full length videos, which take the raw footage and still is artfully edited to show the different parts of the day without being boring or too lengthy). I cannot say enough positive things about Vijay and his team. They worked with us and had extensive questionnaires about our vision for the highlights reel, song selection, what type of photos are important to us, etc. and are able to add a personal touch that appeals to each bride and groom. When you have someone that creates a product that is better than what you could ever envision, you know you have chosen a good vendor. I felt this way about many of my vendors, but is extremely important for photos and videos. In summary, highly highly recommend. read more

We hired Vijay recently to photograph our wedding in Los Gatos. He did a wonderful job. We couldn't be happier about the pictures or the process! He has a great eye for what makes a good shot as well as tweaking pictures as needed. We were very selective about hiring a photographer and took our time meeting several people to compare portfolios and packages. One of our main criteria for choosing a photographer was to get the high resolution digital negatives. Vijay certainly delivered as promised with a quick turnaround time. He was very easy to work with, had fantastic photos, and was professional and low key during the entire day. He also worked well with my family which is large and can at times be like herding cats. read more

Look no further, you have found the best. We decided to use Vijay's photography services for our wedding last summer and was truely impressed with his ability and final outcome. Vijay was very professional with some briallant ideas on the turnout of the photos. Not only that, he was able to work with us on our budget needs and gave us a great product at a great price. The outcome of the final album Vijay put together was truely amazing. He helped us find a high quality album at a great price as well. He let us be a part of the entire process and gave us professional advice on best practices. He gave a very fast turnaround on proofs and an online gallery that stays up a long time. One of the best parts was that he was able to put together a bunch of high quality mini albums to give as gifts to our family and friends. Thanks for the great work Vijay!!! Highly reccommended.... Vijay was the find of the century. We needed a top pro to capture our early fall wedding at the beautiful Boa Ventura Winery in Livermore (great wine and locale, but that's another review). A friend whose wedding we had just attended recommended Vijay. He was prompt, professional, easy going and blended into the fabric of our wedding, but of course was an integral part of it. It is truly the sign of a great photographer when they get all the required shots, and more, and most people never knew they were around. Our album was fabulous, and having all of the digital photos from the wedding was a perfect bonus. We shopped around quite a bit before the wedding, and we were impressed with Vijay's overall value and responsiveness to all of our inquiries. On a day when you can't help but worry about all the details, he exuded confidence and delivered, and gave us one less thing to worry about. As you can probably tell, we highly recommend him to anyone needing a photographer on their most joyous and important day. read more

Vijay Rakhra is the best professional wedding photographer and videographer in the Bay Area. He shot our Carmel wedding at La Playa Hotel in 2006 and we were amazed and delighted with our photos. Vijay is so good at capturing the moment. He sees things with an artist's eye and is able to take shots that are both traditional and unique. He not only blends technical knowledge with artistic vision but what makes Vijay stand out from other photographers is his warm and caring personality. He cares about your wedding and is committed to bringing you the best photographs and video possible. I highly recommend him! I was so happy with him, that I hired him for professional business photographs as well. read more

Vijay's work is incredible and everyone who has seen our wedding album has remarked upon it. He did an excellent job of capturing all of the important moments while being as unobtrusive as possible, something that was really important to my husband and I. Not only are the photographs great, the service was as well. We received all of our photos before we left on our honeymoon two days after the wedding. Amazing! We're now expecting our first child and will look to Vijay to take photos of our expanding family. I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a photographer. read more

Vijay was suggested to me by a friend, and thank goodness. I love my wedding photos. I have received countless complements on the amazing photography. Not only were the pictures great, but he was super timely. We were married 10-17-09 and had received all that he promised like viewing the photos in a week, CD of all negatives and the nice leather album that he designed for us all before Thanksgiving. Very impressive from what I have heard and seen from other wedding photographers. He is very experienced, friendly, relaxing, and professional. When Mike and I did our engagement photos we were worried we wouldn't know what to do, but Vijay lead us and made us feel comfortable and look great. I would highly recommend him. read more

Vijay has taken our yearly family photos for the last two years. He is extremely patient (it can be tough trying to get a 2 year old to smile at the camera!) and incredibly talented. He has an artistic eye and really knows how to bring out the beautiful surroundings to compliment every picture. In fact, for the last 2 years we have used his photos for our annual family holiday card. He also happened to shoot my brother's wedding and I saw first hand how he gracefully dealt with the chaos of an indian wedding. I wish we had known about him for our wedding - we would have absolutely used him. Highly recommend him! read more

Vijay did a great job on our wedding! Always on time, easy to work with, and a good sense of humor. Photos and videos consistently met or exceeded expectations -- we had looked at his portfolio and there were no surprises in terms of the quality of his work. He was great at posing groups, too. We had a relatively small wedding with many mishaps, yet Vijay managed to make it look better than it was ;) Thank you! read more

A few days before I met Vijay, I was scouring the Internet for a wedding photographer; and not just a "wedding" photographer, but one that took pictures and videos of Indian weddings. Indian weddings are special in that they are not all the same, so no real "template" to work off of; there is a lot going on - moms / aunts ordering you around; "mela" and chaos among the vibrant colors; loud noises and in some cases 500+ people. The first few photographers I looked at were "okay" but nothing that made me smile and/or go, "wow." And then; serendipitously I ended up on a wedding vendor forum board I read about this great photographer "Vijay Rakhra." So I naturally Googled him and ended up on his site, and yes, I smiled and said, "wow." If you haven't been on his site yet, go, go now! (http://weddingdocumentary.com/ - full disclosure - the third picture on the home page is of me and my husband). The site opens up with three beautiful photos, it's easily navigable and there are not only wedding photos, but beautiful photos from his travels through India and Africa. And that's when I knew I had to meet him, b/c he wasn't just a "wedding" photographer, he was a photographer that understood all types of photography and cultures. We met Vijay at the Great Bear Coffee shop in Los Gatos and within the first 5 minutes I knew I wanted to work with him. He was so easy to talk to, completely understood where we were coming from, what we wanted, and how to go about doing it. He had brought some great samples of his work, beautiful albums, mini-albums, etc... and I was completely sold. Engagement: We did a photo session in San Francisco at the Levi's plaza and on one of the piers, which more than anything, was so much fun. He made us really comfortable, had us laughing throughout and the pictures that came out were so, so beautiful. Wedding: we had a typical multi-day Indian wedding and Vijay was on point for the whole thing. He and his team were EARLY, completely professional, worked well with the myriad of loud family and friends and on top of all that, they blended in. I really like it when you can't tell who the photographer is b/c they aren't being intrusive and really just became a part of the party and that's exactly what Vijay and his crew did. The pictures and video he put together for all the events (Garba / Sangeet; Wedding; and Reception) were so beautiful and colorful that I find myself going back to his site time and time again to relive the magic and love of the wedding. And yes, I cried the first time I watched the wedding video... Price-wise, wedding photography is not cheap. Indian wedding photography with video is even more not cheap, but the great thing about Vijay is that he can work with most budgets and will put together great packages for your price point. Beyond just the wedding, Vijay is now my friend and I will look to him to continue being the individual that is there to capture the significant moments in our lives. He's a great person on top of being a consummate professional and I highly recommend him. I also recommend booking as far in advance as you can... Thanks Vijay! read more

Vijay is fantastic! He has been so amazing to work with! He has not only taken our engagement photos in 2005, he has also documented our wedding in 2006 in photos and on video! He was able to capture the complete essence of how I wanted to remember my wedding day. Since then we had our first child in July 2008 and he captured my daughter's innocence at 4 weeks old and gave us our 1st family photos! Just today we once again worked with Vijay to give my husband's parents their Christmas gift with photos of the whole family! He is so talented and I would recommend him (as I have to so many) over and over again. The work that he does is priceless and gives you memories to last a lifetime. Vijay you are AWESOME! Thank you for everything. read more

Working with Vijay and his team was a great experience. I heard about him through a friend who used him, and was just as pleased. They are professional, fun to work with, responsive, and take great photos and video. Every step of the process was enjoyable, and we couldn't be happier! Thanks again! read more

I don't even know where to begin! Vijay Rakhra with Wedding Documentary did a fantabulous job for our wedding. First of all, he came all the way to Los Angeles for our 3 day long wedding!! He spent as much time as needed for all 3 events and I didn't even feel as though he was there at all. When I saw my photos, (all 3,000+), I couldn't believe how much he captured! He didn't miss a thing! Not only were they uploaded in record time for me to view, but, my CD of ALL photos was mailed to me in record time as well. The album...oh wow...myself and my husband, along with any friends and family whom have seen it are just floored at the quality and creativity. It's absolutely beautiful and super unique which is what I wanted. Vijay is so fun to work with and so easy going....yet loves what he does!! You can tell by the end result. If you're looking for quality and creativity to the max....have Vijay fly out to shoot your wedding. By far the best I've seen! read more

The one decision you will never regret is hiring Vijay to be your wedding photographer. My husband and I live in Boston, but we were married in the Bay Area. We had originally hired another photographer, but after being referred to Vijay by another couple, and after speaking with him, we actually decided to go with him instead. We could not meet him in person, but he spent the time over the phone and through email to really get to know us, and to make sure that we got to know him. We not only understood his philosophy and style, but we also felt like he began to understand us as a couple -- our concerns, our idiosyncrasies, our crazy multicultural family, and our hopes for our wedding day. I really believe that the time he took to get to know my husband and I before the wedding (even though we were so far away) was reflected in his ability to capture the most important and emotional moments during our wedding. I did not meet Vijay in person until the moment I arrived at our wedding location -- but with his personality, and the time he had taken with us beforehand, I felt like I had known him forever. During the long, complicated ceremony, he was unobtrusive and yet, he was everywhere he needed to be to capture the perfect images. And he was not only a photographer -- he was emotionally intelligent about what we were feeling and needing (he had been to more weddings than we had!). If Vijay's character does not win you over, his photography definitely will. He is incredibly talented. I absolutely loved the shots he took, and the most difficult part was narrowing it down to a reasonable number that he could put into an album. Even though it took my husband and I a while to get Vijay our selections, it did not take him long at all to get to us the proofs for our album. The photos were stunning, but the way he laid them out were even more incredible, and powerful. Today, almost a year after our wedding, i was showing the album to some people I had not seen for a while. Over and over, I heard that it was the most beautiful album they had ever seen. I cannot disagree. I would recommend Vijay as a photographer without hesitation, without qualification, and without reservation. read more
