Situated on an A426 between Rugby and Lutterworth, the calm within is amazing and the wealth of gift ideas and quality goods for home and garden. Visit their website and read about the history of the farm and, in particular the barn itself? It's an education. An absolute must, and my main reason for visiting regularly, is the refreshment area. It really is sublime. There is a small seating area right opposite the counter which, in the colder months, has a log burning fire. There is a larger and very comfortable seating area in an upstairs lounge with mixed seating.sofas, armchairs, tables.another log burning fire which is regularly attended to. Sink into one of the cozy chairs and watch the traffic pass yet at the same time feeling, as if perhaps, you are somewhere else? An impressive array of homemade cakes etc., awaits your attention when you place your order which, even if you choose to take a seat in the upstairs lounge, will be brought to you by a member of the pleasant staff. For a light lunch you may try their delcious homemade soup with a roll? I would be happy to recommend this establishment to my female contacts as a place for the unaccompanied traveller to stop and rest a while in a spotlessly clean and safe environment. Worth a detour!!

Inside on Sunday lunchtime, the place was buzzing but a table was soon found for us. There's no draft beer, so we ordered Peroni and a bottle of Argentinean Malbec. The food order was taken promptly by a friendly young waitress. The starters of pâté and toast and calamari were both good and the roast topside of beef was splendid. This a lively place, well-patronised by families and deservedly so.

I thought I'd better share this review after my recent visit to the Waterfront Restaurant in Market…read moreHarborough after my marathon 3 hour sitting! The Waterfront is almost totally free of taste or character and, as described by my brother in law, the main restaurant area is one up from a school canteen. The tables were arranged in a specially designed liner pattern; the waiters appeared to be also specially trained in deliberately bumping into all of the guests! This started off being a comedy moment but after the seventh occasion I realised this wasn't so funny, and was starting to get some sort of repetitive injury. I changed tables to one closer to the waiter behind the bar who was posing as an undertaker. The dining experience started after over an hour (and two complaints) when my food finally arrived. Other people were clearly waiting longer than our party and I could hear the grumblings of a lynch mob forming. My authentic Eastern European waiter professionally tried to diffuse the situation by saying, you want more bread then? My starter arrived which can only be described as a watery crayfish cocktail; it had been clearly defrosted during the monumental delay. There was a good pool of what I can only describe as fridge water left in the bowl at the bottom. To be fair and give a balanced review the main course was as described; rib eye steak which was tender and well cooked, although I may have been choking on the price. The accompanying bowl of boiled unseasoned vegetables was ok but rather insipid and the McDonalds-style fries were equally as described (although obviously they didn't have the packaging). The crowning glory of the service was the surprising edition of a gravy thumb print in side one of our bowls of food from presumably the waiter; I'm really hoping it was gravy. To finish my sweet was fine and as described, however one of my group ordered the cheese board, which I hate to say was misleading, there were four thumb sized style pieces of cheese and four biscuits to be accurate. Overall I was disappointed with the whole dining experience mainly over the expectation of the price versus food quality and service. The restaurant isn't cheap, in fact it's one of the most expensive in the area so for the price (and joking aside) I expected more than this. It seems that the owner, the chef and I have lost interest.
