ALL BEWARE and AVOID!!!! Hammersla's Automotive cannot fulfill its claims OR outright LIES to…read moreclients. I entrusted a 1970 Chevy C-10 pickup to be restored with Jim Hammersla, owner of Hammersla's Autobody. He is indeed a charmer. I bemoaned how every shop I contacted in my NJ/NY/PA tristate area seemed shady, was too expensive, did not do this kind of work, or needed at least a year. I called Jim from a third-party recommendation (MAACO, with whom Jim lost or dissolved his franchise--I suspect the former), and he explained I had contacted the right business. Promised: restoration in under a year, no more than $30,000 cost, and wonderful results from his kids (his team). I even bought him and his wife dinner. We seemed to be getting along. That was May of 2022. It is now January 2025. I recently reached out to him, but he replied with a notarized "DO NOT CONTACT" letter, not signed by a judge (no judge would ever sign), and he wishes to charge me $58 a day storage fees. He has over $7000 of new parts (suspension system, disc brakes, chassis, and more), my truck engine and exhaust system, and my BF Goodrich tires and wheels. I am the client. I am trusting his years of experience and integrity. I was yelled at continuously on the phone by Jim whenever I reached out about the delays. I was told I was at fault. And that now, in his notarized reply, he wishes to charge me for holding my truck two years over the agreed date of completion. THIS LATEST LETTER FROM HIM, I HOPE, CONVINCES YOU, THE READER, THAT HE IS A LIAR AND THIEF. I am pursuing Consumer Fraud and televised media as well to bring his malfeasance to light.

Come read the tale of a naive client (me) who willingly left his 1970 Chevy C-10 truck to be…read morerestored with Jim Hammersla. We reviewed the work required, and he agreed to have the truck finished in under one year at a $30,000 budget. This was May 2022. A whole year goes by and Jim barely contacts me, a few texts here and there. In year two, I have shipped him over $7,000 in parts and he shows me pics of... maybe my truck? But who knows? Jim enjoys laying the blame of his lack of progress on the client--an astounding talent. I checked his reviews and realized he has a PR firm that removes bad ones (they are ll on Google if you care to look). Who wouldn't, right, if your business cannot fulfill promises? The last conversation with Jim was a promise to have my Chevy restored within 6 months of year two. We are at YEAR 3. Nothing but a note from Jim forbidding any contact with him and he wishes to charge me $59 a day for storage. The truck was to be auctioned off for the LEUKEMIA AND LYMPHOMA SOCIETY to raise funds for cancer clinical trials. I posted poor reviews on his website and he is pursuing harassment charges against me. THIS IS HOW JIM DOES BUSINESS. I am taking this to consumer fraud and the Attorney General of PA. Thanks, Jim. You have lied the entire three years.

Once the car was in the shop I was there for another 3 weeks and we were told less then a week. After several times of being told I would get a call by Friday I never did. The car wouldn't turn over as we pulled up. So they replaced the battery and then said it need a starter. We had them fix all that. Which they didn't even start after having it a week. At pick up they did clean the car and looks like they cleaned just the drivers side floor. After taking it home. The back hatch window didn't shut, and the hood wasn't latched. The car doesn't turn over and will not start. We took it in for two rust spots under the door on both sides, for a jeep.. never will I go there again. I had to send my husband for a surprise visit to make sure they were even doing the job. Should have went somewhere closer.
