We decided to have it checked out, to see what the problem was. (We could see $$$ in our minds.) Coffey's has performed other work on our cars, in the past, so we took it to them and left it, while they investigated the problem. A couple of hours later, David called and told us the A/C was working and we could come pick it up. The best part: it cost us a lot less than other repair shops wanted to charge! Then they found out GM no longer manufactured my engine, so it would cost $7K for them to put in a used one. That didn't sound right to me, so I called Coffey to see when I could bring my car by the shop. I didn't tell them what the other repair shop told me. Coffey said it was the thermostat, and charged me $372. A big difference from $7K. Needless to say, I won't be going back to the shop that tried to cheat me. They figured a gray-haired old lady was stupid. They were wrong!

This review is about my follow-up service with Super Eagle. Unfortunately, this experience was…read moretotally different. My first service was to address a brake issue. I was told that my front brakes were at 1% and that I would eventually need to also have my back brakes fixed. So, I got the front brakes fixed, but when I picked up my car, I still heard a disturbing noise. I called Jake at Super Eagle and shared the concern. Jake responded appropriately and said to bring the car back. The sound became worse over the weekend. When I took it back, I did not get the same type of service as before -no text messages sharing the status of my car and no calls with updates. We called three times and only got voicemail. Upon finally hearing from them, I was told that my back brakes/pads were basically gone - metal on metal, and they couldn't/didn't even try to drive it to hear the sound. It is unacceptable that one week later, my car was worse. Hubby and I have concluded that they replaced the wrong brakes the first time. This mistake, the absence of updates, and the subpar level of service were extremely disappointing. Full disclosure - after expressing our displeasure, we were given a discount of maybe 15-20% Unfortunately, my initial excitement of finding a new shop for my Volvo is gone. I'll keep searching for a consistently dependable shop.

Last week, my wife's 2012 Chevy Traverse refused to crank. She had the vehicle towed to the…read moreclosest shop which was Shamrock Auto. They diagnosed the issue as a starter and we paid $800-ish for the repair. Three days later, the Traverse started throwing warning lights... the battery indicator, check engine light, and check battery charging system. In hopes that the issue was somehow connected to the new starter, we returned the car to Shamrock to diagnose. Unfortunately, they diagnosed the issue as the alternator and quoted 700-800. They suggested that I also get a new serpentine belt. With the belt, the total would be 1300. Because the vehicle is 14 years old, and we had just dropped 800 on the starter, we decided to minimize the cost of repair and we would just start looking for a more reliable replacement vehicle. We opted to save the 500-600 dollars and only get the alternator work completed. When the repairs were complete, they called to settle the bill. Expecting 700-800 dollars, I was shocked when they said the total was just shy of 1200. I asked if they had installed the serpentine belt, because this total was WAY out of line with the 700-800 originally quoted. I was told that I wasn't accounting for the THREE HOURS of labor. Maybe it's just me, but when shops quote repair estimates, they typically include the labor! I also checked online to see if I could get a good idea of what these repairs typically cost. Chevy Traverse alternators are typically replaced in the 700-800 range (total cost), with labor typically running 1-2 hours. I am not a gear head, but I have two friends that do all of their own repairs and maintenance work. Both of my friends are of the opinion that I was taken advantage of... and with zero apologies or reasonable explanations from the owner at Shamrock. I would definitely proceed with caution if you plan on utilizing this business... and get their quotes in writing BEFORE authorizing work.
