I thought about giving 3 stars but the situation for the sulfur smelling/tasting water was a mechanical issue that could have happened at any time. To their credit, they were apologetic and provided us with a few bottles of water and a bag of ice. Other than not being able to use the water, the place is great! Very quiet in the rooms. Even when 8-10 trucks and boats left early in the morning for the tournaments, we didn't hear a thing. The rooms are newly remodeled and look great! I wouldn't hesitate to come back and stay again although I would definitely ask about the water first. Oh, plus they are dog friendly for $10/night which is MUCH cheaper than putting her in a kennel.

This campground was a perfect thanksgiving getaway with the family. As a family we rented two…read morecabins and a large camper. The large camper was so spacious, very comfortable, and all the kiddos had a blast having a sleepover with Grandma in it. Everyone had a nice spot to sleep and we even had a craft game day inside with the family and it fit all of us nicely. The two cabins we rented were so cute and so comfy, very clean and the beds were very comfortable. We spent our days chatting by the camp fire, exploring the creek side, fishing and taking walks over the bridge, it was a peaceful fun adventure with the little ones, something I hope the older ones will always remember and cherish. The hosts were so great at responding to anything we asked for. We had forgotten all our markers and crayons and they brought us a big box with scissors and everything. So grateful it was so close to my sister's house and it was so quiet too, like we had the whole place to ourselves. We would definitely love to come visit Hideaway River Farm during the summer, go tubing and attend a live music event. Thank you so much for your kindness and being so helpful.

But later that day after checking out they called me to inform me they were charging me an extra $50 cleaning fee because the room had been smoked in. I debate this with the woman because I'm a nonsmoker. She told me that they found and ash. So I asked if she would send me a photo of said ash? At that point the room had already been cleaned so she could not. And at that point they already had my card and knew there was nothing I could do. Seems like a nice little legal scam they got going on for the off season to help keep the lights on. I'm betting they do that to every one night guest that comes through. So Hickory County.

I was not given the discounted rate at check in. I was told they didn't have that rate and the website was updated. I didn't have the email saved to prove otherwise. My uncle had a screen shot of his discounted rate so they gave him his rate. We came in early, our room wasn't ready so they put us in a different room upstairs. We were in there for an hour and a half with the ac at 60 and it wouldn't cool down. The fridge wasn't plugged in and it takes 24 hours for it to get up to temp so we couldn't store milk in it. My family had rented 4-5 rooms total and the conference room so I put our cold stuff in the fridge in the conference room. I went downstairs and asked if I could get my dad's keys to make sure his ac was on and fridge plugged in. The ladies weren't friendly about it but gave me the key and let me know I was to bring it right back. A little bit later I went down to switch rooms as our ac obviously wasn't working and the lady seemed irritated about it. She went to talk to the younger lady who worked there and came back and let me know she didn't want to clean another room. I let her know I didn't want to stay in a room without ac. She finally gave me the keys for the other room, but the whole conversation was just absurd, no customer service skills at all. As we're switching rooms I can hear her being nice and laughing in cionvo to my husband, but all her interactions with me were just rude or cold. I let my family know to check that their acs work and fridges were plugged in but decided against telling them about the attitude figuring it was a one off off. My cousin's family gets in and asked to make sure they had a room with a good ac and the woman says "how am I supposed to know" with a bunch of attitude. My cousin sends us all a message about the rude lady. We felt lots of negativity Friday night and Saturday. They came in to replace the ac on Saturday after my complaint. The Saturday night lady was very friendly, but the others were not.

The website policy states that no loud parties or extra guests are allowed and that management will enter the rental in the case of extra people and loud parties. I cancelled our rental for a future date, and have had nothing but trouble with a simple refund. The office issued a refund to the wrong bank account number. I have been trying to deal with the office for a week now.

Both are warm and cozy, easily sleep 6-7 people (two bedrooms, plus pullout couches and plenty of extra space. Both have a fully-stocked kitchen (plenty of plates, cutlery and pots and pans). Wolf Pack Place includes a wood-burning stove and a hot tub (!!!). The rates are extremely reasonable for the amount of space and the beauty of the location. We went hiking in the woods, walked down to the lake (about .25 miles) down the hill, and relaxed in the cabins. Note: no TV, no wifi and cell phone coverage is non-existent. This is a GREAT spot to get away from it all. Approximately 2.5 hours southeast of Kansas City, so it's particularly great for an overnight or weekend trip.

All of them have a large fire pit area , hot tub, board games, and one of the larger ones had a wood stove to boot! They even supply wood!!!!! Grandkids love the board games , large area outback to play yard games and , of course, the hot tub! Easy set up to keep eye on the kids! It's very close to lake Pomme de Terre, where you can go fishing, boating, jet skis. I can not imagine doing Easter any other way! We've talked about taking a few weekend trips out here because we love it so much. We live three hours away and the drive out is beautiful in spring! The owners, Scott and Gina Wolf , super nice and easy to work with. I accidentally booked the wrong one and and he offered to swing by and open up the other one , no problem. We ended up staying in this one since it had the wood stove! What a hidden gem this place is!!

So I told myself don't forget to get pictures of the mini store, playground, bathrooms, cabins, yurt, camping spots and so now all I can share are my memories. Which are pretty great! With this being my first visit, this is what I would do on my next: Even though I liked the yurt and it was comfy enough, I would probably add the cabin next to it for the adults. Just to be more comfortable, Yurts which are permanent tents, have room to sleep 5-6 with a fan and outlet. We brought our own fans too. The cabins do have AC units and a mini fridge but still no bathrooms. The community bathrooms have 2 showers and 2 toilets each, surprisingly their was never much of a wait. It is highly recommended that if your going to float the river which takes about 4 hours, Caplinger provides canoes and transportation for pick up and drop off, set out no later than 10am. We did a mini float (we had 4 kids under the age of 6), with our own raft and we parked a car down stream at the next bridge since we had 2 cars. Just for a heads up, the river flows fairly quickly so not much paddling needed. With our own raft we made sure to bring all our kids a life vest. It's as shallow as 3 inches to 10 ft in some spots before the damn is opened. After which it's just all flooded, moves even faster and much deeper. By 4pm even the campsites see a significant rise in water but still a good 200ft from the cabins all of which recedes before you wake up the next morning. Which also means lots of mud (let the reader understand). We just brought a sturdy stick to push away from protruding branches and rocks. A kid did jump out (because kids do that, well ours did) but we had an adult outside the raft walking/floating alongside just for such an event! Highly recommend booking in advance.

We live within easy driving distance so we haven't used the campgrounds but have been through the area to put boats in. The waterways are a beautiful area to float with lots of places to stop along the way. Highly recommend, you won't be sorry.
